32 years ago today, the original Stargate movie premiered! Thank you to @Dean_Devlin and @rolandemmerich for creating this incredible film that spawned an entire universe we all love. Here's to the movie that started it all! #SaveStargate #StargateDay

The petition has crossed 125,000 signatures! Well done! And before you ask, yes, this does have an impact. It proves to Amazon/MGM that we are still here and still waiting for a new show that will honor the Five Pillars of Stargate.
If you haven't signed the petition yet, now is a great time! If you have signed the petition, thank you! You are making a difference.

There are not early industry leaks, just that one YouTuber who has been wrong about everything to date. Come on, man.

Amazon finally announced a new Stargate series.
A lot of fans want no part of it.
Within an hour of the Jac Schaeffer news, replies filled up with #RIPStargate, #NotMyStargate, and threats to cancel Prime.
The reason is simple.
Fans spent the entire summer fighting to bring back Martin Gero’s canceled Stargate series.
That campaign passed 120,000 petition signatures.
Instead, Amazon started over with the creator of WandaVision.
“We did not #SaveStargate,” one fan wrote. “#RIPStargate.”
Nerdrotic had an even shorter reaction:
“DOA.”
Others are hammering Amazon for ignoring the existing fanbase after canceling Gero’s version over concerns it wouldn’t appeal broadly enough.
One fan summed up the problem:
Amazon may now have a new Stargate series in development while #SaveStargate is still going strong.
That could get awkward fast.

Samuel Cockings’ Stargate fan film is nearly through principal photography, backed by hundreds of CGI/VFX hours and a story spanning SG-1, Atlantis and Universe. Support the next step toward a 10-episode web series on GoFundMe, and share it with a fan. #SaveStargate gofund.me/3b5873ab9

Almost a month since I last posted about #SaveStargate.
Not because I stopped caring.
Quite the opposite.
In the time since my last post, I’ve been reminded again and again why this franchise matters so much to people.
Stargate isn't just something we watched.
It became comfort.
It became friendships.
It became characters we carried with us.
It became a universe people could escape to when the real one got a little too heavy.
And that's exactly why I still believe there is an audience waiting for a new Stargate.
Not just the fans who have been here for decades.
People discovering SG-1 and Atlantis for the first time.
People who haven't even found their Stargate yet.
The gate was built to take us somewhere new.
So please, Amazon MGM, don't let this be where the journey ends.
Open the gate again.

My honest thoughts. I wanted Gero and his Stargate vision with Joe and Brad. That’s the Stargate I’m invested in and feel should’ve been tried out.
They deserved that RESPECT as the ones who made the Stargate we all love.
If they’re going the reboot route. I’m not going to poo poo it before it’s out. Battlestar did it and it surpassed the original.
Stargate however is so established, and in my view the show surpassed the original film which yes I know is part of the story but you know what I mean.
If Amazon is going to do a limited 7 ep series if a reboot not one is really exicted about with no established link to the original cast.
Why bother? I want Stargate, but I don’t want it hollowed out into some husk of its former self.
I stand by it. The fan backlash wouldn’t have been as bad if MGM actually came out with a reason why this wasn’t going to work and how they’re committed to the fans bla bla.
In this new era. Fans are far more switched on.
PS. Please do not employ Alex Zurtzman I beg.

MGM asked me to do exactly what you’re describing after I finished Travelers, just before the pandemic. New and legacy characters working together, facing an entirely new enemy, several years after the events of Continuum. (in which I included a hint of the setting) I wrote a pilot I was proud of and MGM seemed excited, but obviously the timing could not have been worse. I can only presume Amazon didn’t like it. I was 100 percent behind Martin and his team, but that was even more heartbreaking because they got so close.
In other words, we tried. Martin will go on to make something amazing. I may even have another show in me. But I have moved on.

We want Stargate back.
But more importantly, we want you to understand why we want it back.
There is a concern among many long-time fans that the value of the Stargate franchise is being viewed primarily as its basic premise and brand recognition, rather than the incredible universe that has already been built.
Stargate 1994 movie was just the beginning. A small window. Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe didn't simply tell variations of the same story. Together, they created a vast mythology, established characters, countless worlds, civilisations, technologies, mysteries and decades of history.
That history isn't baggage.
It's the franchise's greatest asset.
We aren't asking you to simply recreate SG-1. We aren't asking for endless nostalgia or a carbon copy of what came before.
We want something new.
Give us new characters. New teams. New worlds. New threats. New mysteries.
But don't throw away the universe that makes those new stories possible.
There is no reason why a new series can't be accessible to someone discovering Stargate for the first time while still respecting the people who have been watching, supporting and talking about this franchise for decades.
In fact, that would be Stargate's greatest strength.
You don't have to choose between new audiences and existing fans.
You can bring people into the franchise by giving them a compelling new story — while rewarding longtime viewers who understand the history behind the universe.
So please don't look at Stargate and see something that needs to be rebooted simply because it's old.
Look at what you've inherited.
Look at the enormous universe that is already there.
And then ask yourselves:
“Where can we take this next?”
That's the Stargate we want.
Not a replacement.
Not an erasure.
A continuation. An expansion. A new chapter in a universe we already love.
Amazon MGM — please listen to the fans.
Don't reboot the universe. Explore it.

Wouldn't this be interesting?
"Then you can spin off into multiple directions: a new SG team exploring the Milky Way, a new Atlantis-style expedition, a deep-space series, or even an entire series following characters and civilizations from the alternate universe. Meanwhile, Prime Daniel can return to our universe and become the connective tissue between the new shows and the original Stargate continuity." #SaveStargate
An alternate-universe Stargate series could have be the perfect way to start fresh without rebooting the franchise.
The hook: Prime Daniel Jackson—the Daniel we know from SG-1—is discovered alone aboard a ship in an alternate universe.
He has no idea how he got there.
This universe is different. Its history, Stargate program, characters and civilizations have taken completely different paths.
But Daniel remembers our universe.
That makes him the audience's bridge into this new reality. We discover the AU alongside him, while his knowledge of our timeline creates a constant mystery:
Why is this universe different?
What happened to the people he knew?
Where is this universe's Daniel?
And why was Prime Daniel brought here?
The first series can ultimately follow Daniel trying to understand this reality and find a way home.
But getting Daniel back shouldn't be the end—it should be the launch point.
By then, the series could have introduced new characters, teams, planets and civilizations that are strong enough to support their own shows.
Then you can spin off into multiple directions: a new SG team exploring the Milky Way, a new Atlantis-style expedition, a deep-space series, or even an entire series following characters and civilizations from the alternate universe.
Meanwhile, Prime Daniel can return to our universe and become the connective tissue between the new shows and the original Stargate continuity.
You don't reboot Stargate. You use the Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks) we know to open the door to a whole new Stargate universe—and potentially an entire new generation of spin-offs.

Some people ask why we're still here.
Because hope doesn't have an expiry date.
Because stories that changed lives deserve to be remembered.
Because every day someone discovers Stargate for the very first time and falls in love with it just as we did.
We're not living in the past.
We're fighting for the future.
