Another election it is
Israel’s Channel 13 exit poll projects a divided Knesset, with the opposition bloc securing 53 seats, Netanyahu’s coalition bloc 50 seats, and Arab parties 17 seats. Neither major bloc reaches the 61 seats required for a majority in Israel’s 120-seat parliament.

>inherit Latin America's top oil producing comapny, run on commercial principles >put it under political control >fire 18k workers, including engineers >replace experts with loyalists >turn a commercially driven company into a government tool >oil production collapses

it's genuinely insane how little has changed in this country over the decades. i could dead teleport u back to the 90s and you'd find the exact same buildings, same streets, same everything. it's like its been stuck in a permanent time loop. not even a fuckin rock has been moved

This is just false. The economic interests have long been secured through partnerships with a number of monarchies and dictatorships in the region. Including militarily. Israel isn’t that important from this angle at all. Communists will continue to cope about being wrong tho.
Israel is a bridgehead for imperialism's economic assets in the region

Agreed. Egypt actually spent much of 2023 keeping the pound at 31 which led to dollar shortages and a bigger black market. only to let it fall past 50 in 2024 anyways. Better to let the currency adjust than burn reserves defending a rate the market won’t sustain
The Egyptian Pound is falling. That's not a sign of weakness, but a sign of good policy. Oil prices are spiking as fears of another hot war build, so the weaker Pound is offsetting all of that. Egypt deserves huge kudos for letting the Pound float... robinjbrooks.substack.com/p/…

could either be a diplomatic nothingburger that leads nowhere or a historic realignment that reshapes the entire political landscape of the region. probably a nothingburger tho

it's insane that he actually built this whole image of being so eloquent and well spoken when he genuinely can barely express a coherent thought without sounding borderline illiterate lol

It’ll most likely be another hung Knesset. Neither side reaches 61 seats and Eisenkot leads. The opposition may have enough seats to oust Netanyahu but it’ll depend on whether Eisenkot can secure Arab party support to reach a majority. If not they’ll end up with another election

Regime change is a fantasy atp lmao. Iran will likely survive despite the pressure and we’ll be stuck with years of instability and more wars across the region. The rest of the world gets higher oil prices and weaker economies. Can’t see things going back to normal anytime soon
3 possible outcomes in Iran 1. The U.S. leaves and Iran controls the straight & freely sells energy to the world 2. The U.S. gets the regime change it wants, controls the strait and the energy. 3. The U.S. leaves but not before the strait and broader region is in such bad shape that the strait and the regions energy assets are unavailable to the rest of the world. Guess which one of the three is not going to happen.

White people be like “I emailed Saddam Hussein after 9/11 to see if we could work things out between him and America”
Saddam Hussein emails a random American citizen, Christopher Love of Pennsylvania, who tried to contact Hussein earlier this month, to express his personal condolences for the September 11 attacks. “Dear brother in the family of mankind,” the email reads in part, “I am presenting my condolences to you. God has created us, and to God we return. May you have a long life.”

Authoritarianism sounds great when you imagine a competent technocrat like Lee Kuan Yew running the country, not so much when you remember the same system can leave you stuck with a Gaddafi or a Mobutu for decades with virtually no way to get rid of him lmao
Incredibly blackpilling as a liberal democracy fan that liberal democracies always see big protests, changes of governments, disorder, getting nothing done, etc. while authoritarian regimes can occasionally just bypass all that
