I have a friend who told me she intentionally keeps her freelance income where it is because if it went up her family would lose food stamps, free daycare, and free healthcare. the incentives are so bad here, who would work to earn $10k more knowing they'd lose something like $60k in benefits as a result?

Consciousness evolved among populations of experience-having entities that were ALREADY ALIVE, reproducing, subject to natural selection, capable of likes and dislikes, etc.
You can't just code or even train a machine, turn it on, and have it "come alive."

The MAIN, #1 thing men want in relationships is female sexuality - sex itself, beauty, romantic love, attraction, affection, foreplay and oral, fun dating, probably kids.

@JoelWebbon and @Wesley_Todd_ explain how the soul comes from God but also through the bodies of the mother and father, shaped by their "genetic particularities." Therefore, like physical features, the nature of soul and spirit is inherited through lineage, i.e. ethnicity.
