I think about this moment for my dad. He was 25. Third Olympics. WR holder in the mile, 1500, 800. 1968 Olympics he’s been the favorite even though it was held at Mexico City and a mile of altitude. Despite that, and having mono that year and pulling a hamstring, he. . .

"Most members of the [Democrat] majority have “no clue” what life is like for a Washington farmer." 3,700 WA farms lost in just 5 years, with bad state policy taking most of the blame. A damning report by TCS Washington's @CarleenJohn1970 thecentersquare.com/washingt…

A 16-year-old Sophomore in HS just ran 1:42.27 for 800m. The 18th fastest time in history. Cooper Lutkenhaus beat two world champs and finished a tenth behind another. Read that again. It’s mind-blowing. As a former phenom who didn’t live up to the early hype, I keep getting the same question: how do you handle this moment? Here’s the guidance I’ve shared with a dozen phenoms over the years:

Here's a good list of the absolute sickness on display by Democrats in WA state. @libsoftiktok
At 2am this morning, the WA House Democrats passed HB 1296 Parental Rights Gutting under the cover of darkness. Perhaps the worst part of it are the amendments they voted down: ❌ 9 year olds can't excuse themselves from campus ❌ Parents must be notified if their child doesn't appear at school or leaves campus ❌ Disallow Boys to shower with Girls ❌ Disallow Boys in the Girls' bathrooms ❌ Disallow OSPI to punish schools for non-compliance with state policies that violate Federal Law ❌ Parents must be notified if a medical incident happened to their child at school ❌ Parents must be notified when a medical procedure happens that requires Insurance ❌ Parents must be notified if their child is assaulted off school campus ❌ Parents must be notified if their child is SEXUALLY ASSAULTED BY A SCHOOL EMPLOYEE off campus- Democrats not only voted this one down, but they added an amendment that explicitly allows schools to hide this information ❌ Allow Parents to request their child's medical records ❌ Allow Parents to review GRAPHIC material before instruction ❌ Allow suspensions of repeat disruptive students ❌ Remove the Emergency Clause to allow Referendum ❌ Send HB 1296 to the voters since it unwinds I-2081

After decades of one-party "Democrat" rule, Washington state needs ELECTION REFORM more than ever. @WaHouseGOP @WaSenateGOP
We Need Major Election Reform ▪️Right to in-person voting is absolute ▪️Mandate paper ballots ▪️Voter photo ID requirement ▪️15 day voter registration deadline ▪️15 days of early in-person voting, including weekends ▪️No same day voter registration ▪️Ban ballot harvesting ▪️Make Election Day a nat’l holiday ▪️Photo ID requirement for mail-in ballots ▪️Voters must request a mail-in ballot in order to receive one ▪️Any drop boxes must be camera monitored 24/7 & located inside of a courthouse or election office ▪️No automatic mail-in ballots, as seen in CA, NV, OR, & WA ▪️Reinstate in-person voting in Washington State ▪️Increase payment for Election Day Workers ▪️Illegal voters may be removed from the rolls at any time ▪️No ballot may be received after Election Day deadline ▪️Election officials may be held criminally liable for unpreparedness e.g. running out of paper on Election Day ▪️Voters cannot register via a P.O. Box or business ▪️Social Security # required to register to vote; a Driver’s License alone is not sufficient ▪️If a voter moves to another state & registers to vote, that new state must inform the previous state of the new voter registration; this is followed by imminent cancellation of the previous registration *While I understand many Americans’ desire for one day voting, I ask for voters to take some circumstances into consideration: If we were only to allow for one day of voting, that limits police officers, pilots, nurses, doctors, members of the military, the elderly or infirmed, Election Day Workers, & businessmen to vote in our elections. This also includes the millions of expatriates that are still American citizens. Ultimately, we would be limiting millions of conservative voices from voting. Using Pennsylvania as an example, 3.5 million voters gave their votes to President Trump in 2024. Senator-Elect Dave McCormick won his seat by 15,000 votes. Is it possible that 15,000 of those 3.5 million people could not vote on Election Day, but — b/c we had early/mail-in voting — were able to cast their votes & defeat democrat Bob Casey? Yes, I believe that is rational & logical reasoning. The 119th Congress must make it a priority to reform our elections immediately upon taking office in 2025.

Washington State Vote Return Heatmap as of 5:00 pm Aug 5. Counties in the red boxes underperforming and unless they turn dark green with high turnout today, The I-5 corridor will once again prevail. County parties, do the work and Get Out The Vote!

Before you seriously consider dating, let alone marrying someone, it's probably wise to find out how they behaved during 'the pandemic'. Not all worldviews and personality types are compatible. Better to find out early, along with religion, politics, and all the usual stuff. A lot of couples broke up during those years because they discovered their values and beliefs were not as aligned as they thought. Real talk. Good luck.

When progress seems slow and tough, that's often a sing you are on the right track. Skills come from struggle. When something feels too easy, it's often a sign we aren't learning and growing.

Yesterday I did a random spot check on my teenager’s phone. Scrolled through her texts….I am so glad I did. We have all the parental controls on my daughter’s device. We use a 3rd party app to control access to games time spent on the device. 1/

I’m sorting household, financial and medicinal admin for an elderly loved one. Almost everything requires digital - either ordering, purchasing or verification. What on earth are our elderly supposed to do when they aren’t online, able to travel or don’t have a support network?

Wow. Musk has no idea the DARPA rattlesnake he just stepped on by this doing this… My take on @elonmusk’s new rate limit policy, from the lens of the censorship industry:
To address extreme levels of data scraping & system manipulation, we’ve applied the following temporary limits: - Verified accounts are limited to reading 6000 posts/day - Unverified accounts to 600 posts/day - New unverified accounts to 300/day

"It's just sport" "It's one of the most important parts of a long and healthy life." Come deeply to terms with this paradox in your head and you will... Have the humility to avoid doing stupid stuff in the short term. Have the resolve to keep doing important stuff in the long term.

Cross Country is a great metaphor for life. From the outside, it looks like an individual sport. A bunch of people running their own race. But in reality, it's a team sport. The sooner we embrace the team aspect, the better we perform, and the more joy and connection we create.

This is deeply personal, but I nonetheless share it in the hope it will encourage someone. Today I was tested for Parkinson’s. I suffered massive trauma in 2015 when I was hit by a car while bicycling: broken neck, 19 broken vertebrae, flail chest, 12 shattered ribs, hemothorax, traumatic brain injury, shatter orbital and jaw, loss of half of my blood volume, internal hemorrhaging, etc., etc., etc. I was crushed and spent a lot of time with the good nurses in UAB’s burn-trauma unit. I live with a lot of pain now. A lot. But I decided I could deal with that and other symptoms. I would press on when back on my feet. Since that time I’ve had shaking in my hands and legs. It’s gotten worse each year. If you watch the podcast you can see it, especially if I raise a paper or cup of coffee. It’s a bit embarrassing because people think I’m nervous. We knew I’d suffered nerve damage. Okay. Fine. No biggie. I’ll deal with that, too. Then my doc thought I might have Parkinson’s. Turns out Parkinson’s can be triggered by trauma. Okay, Lord, I’m yours. Break me or heal me as you see fit. I belong to you. I meant it and mean it still. But I really didn’t want a degenerative brain disorder that would impair my ability to work and burden my dear wife. So I’ve felt a sense of urgency to make hay, so to speak, while the sun still shined upon me. Today the neurologist said, nope, not Parkinson’s. Brain scan, she said, shows a “remarkably” healthy brain. No, she continued, the news is still not good: you have a spinal cord injury that is only now manifesting itself as your body loses the ability to compensate and hide it. All that breakage at the base of your skull has not healed and your spinal cord has lesions, scars. It’s inoperable. We can only treat the symptoms. Bad news, right? This was, to me, awesome news. This might depress some, but the Lord has taught me to give thanks in all things—even (especially?) the bad things. And the alternatives were all grim here. But this one meant I would not slowly lose my ability to think, work, and support my family. It meant I would continue to experience pain, numbness, shaking, yes, but all things I’m well-equipped to handle—and all things I’ve been dealing with for years. I’ve learned to embrace Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s observation that God’s purpose in us is not our comfort, but “the development of the soul.” In this life we will experience pain and suffering to some degree. It’s unrealistic to think otherwise. We find ways to cope: love and support of family and friends; therapy; medication; counseling; for me, the Psalms; and what I call the tender mercies that usually, but not always, come from women who are, by God’s design, agents of God’s grace in little kindnesses. (In my considerable experience, women are typically better caregivers. Men typically want to fix things, and without a mission or crisis to be conquered or solved, they don’t know what to do with themselves. Children know this instinctively: they run to mama for comfort; they run to dad in an emergency that requires decisive action.) To the great caregivers out there (like my wife): Thank You! God Bless You! From those of us who suffer, I cannot express enough gratitude that the Lord put you on this earth! Do not grow weary in doing good. For those who suffer: can you, in your deepest travails, give thanks? Is there something, however small, that you can point to and say, “Thank you, Lord”? My spinal cord injury, like the rest, will not be healed in this life. Perhaps you likewise suffer physical or emotional pain that will not be mended in life as we currently know it. But if you know Jesus Christ you have this great hope: “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” ~Revelation 21:4 The atheist has no such hope. The Christian does. Hold onto it with both hands.
