#Inflammation is one of the primary causes of #insulinresistance (and other cardiometabolic complications, like #heartdisease/#atherosclerosis). Underlying this is the connection between #fat mass (#obesity and #overweight) and inflammation (what was first called "subclinical chronic inflammation). We've long known that excess fat tissue leads to excess inflammation--it's like the fat tissue is causing the body to fight an infection that's not there. The humble macrophage is at the center of this. When fat mass expands, it welcomes macrophages into the neighborhood (especially visceral fat). These then become aggressive residents, actively producing and secreting pro-inflammatory cytokines that effectively carry the inflammatory signal throughout the body. If your C-reactive protein is elevated, it could be a reflection of excess fat mass. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3772…

During this year's Technogym Globul Education Event, I was able to explain the advantages of lactate diagnostics in theory and practice. The insights into the metabolic processes were the most important "take home" messages. @EKFdiagnostics

So much of poor metabolic health begins in the hypertrophic fat cell. As the fat cell grows ever larger, it produces pro-inflammatory cytokines, increasing inflammation throughout the body. This contributes to increased #insulinresistance, #heartdisease, and more. This newly-published report finds that omega-3 supplementation (EPA/DHA) reduces #inflammation from #fat tissue: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3718…

Dear @NNUH
Diabetes is essentially the inability to manage glucose.
Please can you justify your harmful advice to base meals on starch/glucose or ditch it?

The Bonus is a lower carb approach promotes a healthier life outside of sport too 😇
How many carbs should athletes ingest each day to maximize their training and future performances? Usual answer is: As much as can be tolerated. Yet this study, long forgotten,
journals.physiology.org/doi/… found "no clear benefit to endurance performance when eating 640 vs 383 g/day"
100% correct! Focus on eating foods that DO NOT spike insulin production.

Well said! Just being lighter does not mean much....Body recomposition means the equivalent scale reading can equal a much healthier body.👌

During the holidays, you can prevent added pounds and inflammation.
One Tip: Add Salmon - It actually resolves the #inflammation. The EPA/DHA - omega 3s, prevent inflammation before it starts. Salmon also has astaxanthin - another powerful anti-inflammatory.
