The difference between the man you are and the man you want to be is usually just 90 minutes of discomfort every day that no one will ever see.
Pay that tax. Everything compounds.
THE NEW FEMALE MANAGER DISCOVERED THAT ONE EMPLOYEE HAD BEEN WORKING WITHOUT A PROMOTION FOR NINE YEARS. HER RESPONSE SHOCKED HIM. 😅
Manager: “Robert, how long have you worked here?”
Robert: “Nine years, ma'am.”
Manager: “And what position are you holding?”
Robert: “Senior Operations Assistant.”
Manager: “Interesting. What position did you start with?”
Robert: “Junior Operations Assistant.”
Manager: “So you've only moved one level in nine years?”
Robert: “Yes, ma'am. I'm very loyal.”
Manager: “Have you ever asked for a promotion?”
Robert: “Several times.”
Manager: “And what did management say?”
Robert: “They said I'm too valuable where I am.”
Manager: “That's unfortunate. What exactly do you do?”
Robert: “I train new employees, supervise the department, approve reports, handle difficult clients, and occasionally cover for my manager.”
Manager: “Wait. Who approves your leave?”
Robert: “My manager.”
Manager: “And who handles his work when he's away?”
Robert: “Me.”
The manager slowly closed her notebook.
Manager: “Robert, I have some good news. I'm recommending you for a promotion.”
Robert's face lit up.
Robert: “Really, ma'am? After nine years?”
Manager: “Absolutely. We're moving you to Assistant Manager.”
Robert: “Thank you so much!”
Manager: “And your new responsibilities will include supervising the entire department.”
Robert smiled.
“Wonderful, ma'am. One question, though.”
Manager: “Yes?”
Robert: “Who will be doing my old job?”
Manager: “You will, until we find someone.”
Robert stood up.
“Ma'am, I think I'll need nine more years to think about this offer.”
Behind some people's quiet routines are unfinished chapters and promises they've carried for decades.
I hired a 71-year-old woman to help run my small hotel. She had one strange habit: every evening, she would stand outside Room 12 for exactly five minutes.
She never entered. She never explained why.
Her name was Margaret.
She was polite, hardworking and hardly ever spoke about her past. During her interview, she had asked three unusual questions.
Was the hotel more than thirty years old? Did we still keep the old guest registers? And was Room 12 still furnished the way it used to be?
I found the questions odd, but I hired her anyway.
For three months, she was the best employee I'd ever had.
Then one evening, I caught her crying outside Room 12.
When I asked what was wrong, she wiped her face and said:
"Someone once promised to come back for me in this room."
I thought she was talking about an old lover.
I had no idea what she meant until the day she was taken to hospital.
Never confuse access to someone with a right to their time.
People have responsibilities, private struggles and personal priorities. Respect their availability instead of demanding instant attention. Healthy relationships leave room for individuality.

NEWS🚨🚨
Domestic violence is real, and this is heartbreaking.
A video involving a teacher from Kisii has gone viral after he was allegedly filmed beating his wife in the morning over a disagreement about money for bread.
What makes the incident even more painful is hearing their young daughter pleading, “Dad, give Mum money so we can solve this.”
Imagine a child witnessing such violence in her own home.
No woman should have to beg, plead or endure violence to access basic household necessities. Disagreements over money should never turn into physical abuse.
Children are watching, and domestic violence leaves scars that go beyond physical injuries.
Violence is never the solution.

The Somali community is celebrating Ilhan Omar’s victory in Minnesota
It’s interesting how Somalis celebrate political victories, opportunities and achievements in other countries, yet Somalia itself continues to struggle with instability and political challenges.
Imagine if that same energy could be channelled into rebuilding Somalia. What a different story it would be!

A Kenyan police officer allegedly removed the keys of a Super Metro bus while it was still in motion after the driver and conductor reportedly refused to pay a bribe. The incident resulted in a serious accident, putting passengers' lives at risk.
Angry passengers were so furious that they wanted to teach the officer a lesson.
How can someone entrusted with protecting lives put innocent passengers in such danger over a bribe? Who will hold such officers accountable?
