Everyday tasks? No sweat. Faster graphics? Nailed it. On-device AI? You bet. It’s the new 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac, faster than ever and supercharged by M6.

Today, the calendar makes a right triangle, for the last time this century. This Saturday is October 24, 2026. Write it as 10/24/26 or 24/10/26, and the same beautiful relationship appears: 10² + 24² = 26² 100 + 576 = 676 But here’s what makes today special. There are infinitely many Pythagorean triples. Only a handful fit our calendar. Using the rule month² + day² = (last two digits of the year)², the month cannot exceed 12, and the day cannot exceed 31. Those small limits leave exactly 12 qualifying dates in this century. Today is the last. The next will be March 4, 2105: 3² + 4² = 5² That is a wait of more than 78 years. An infinite family of triangles. Just twelve appearances on a century’s calendar. Happy Pythagorean Triple Day.

70% of the internet was vulnerable yesterday to very bad security flaws inside a coding language. Turns out, *one volunteer* is mostly responsible for maintaining that code & helping push updates. Yesterday Ondřej Surý saved the internet. So I called him up. He rules. theatlantic.com/technology/2…

Because of the nice feedback we got on our first YouTube video, we decided to make another one! In our new video, we take you along on our visit to the Texas State Fair in Dallas, where we spent two days trying different foods, exploring the fair and seeing what there is to discover. Sorry for the long wait on this one, but we only have time to edit in the evenings when we get back to the hotel, so it takes some time. We’re trying to make one longer video every week to show you a bit more of our trip and the things that are hard to share in just a few tweets. Next week’s video will be about our search for German heritage in New Braunfels and Fredericksburg! But for now, here’s our Texas State Fair video. Hope you like it! I've been toying with this for a couple months now. Importantly: know the following; Face tracking works natively with a webcam now on desktop and mobile. It needs to see your whole face, tho, so: VRCFT is still required for setups like beb2e and a chincam. The current vrcft beta contains a "blob" format that uses the new format. Try it out!
The VRChat native face tracking beta SDK has arrived! β I've updated some of my add-on with experimental versions if you wish to provide feedback. I will start updating all of my packages to the native SDK after it is part of the next main SDK release. ⬇ More info bellow ⬇ I am curently holding off on updating all of my packages to avoid confusion and learn how to make the switch as seemless as possible for everyone. Here are the add-ons that are supported: - Lapwing - Marycia - Shinano - Milltina - SiuSiu - Chocolat - Mamehinata - Milfy - Mayo - Lumina what does this update bring? - MUCH reduced synced parameter requirements (only ~10bits max) - your friends will see your face tracking more true to what you're seeing - visemes shouldn't clip anymore - better performance important notes if you wish to provide feedback: - You will need the face tracking beta SDK in your project - Only the open beta version of VRChat will be able to display the beta face tracking - Please switch to the beta branch of VRCFT on steam to be able to control the experimental face tracking - Importing the experimental version will automatically switch your face tracking to the newer VRC systems if you are using the base prefab. - If you are using a customised version I advise you copy the avatar descriptor component from the prefab and remplace the references of the head mesh and eye bones. - Styling should remain the same, if you observe any anomalies or have geenral feedback, please reach out on Booth or Ko-Fi

VRChatワールド「追憶 -A Place to Remember-」を公開しました。

The Great Texas Road Trip has started!🤠🇺🇸 The State Fair inspired us to drive all across Texas. Over the next probably 10 days, we want to make one big loop around the entire state and see as much as possible. I feel like this could be the coolest part of our whole trip! Any recommendations for places we should check out? Especially small towns or lesser-known spots!

Next stop: The Dr Pepper museum! It’s my favorite soda and it was founded here in Waco. We spent around two hours exploring the museum. For our one friend it was actually his first time ever trying it, and apparently he liked it because he just bought another bottle at Walmart😅

I have to say a huge thank you to everyone we met this summer who told us to come back for college football in the fall. This was the best idea ever! Before this trip, we had never really followed American football, not even the NFL. The Super Bowl was the only game we watched. Now, four weeks into our trip, we’ve become such big fans of the sport that we’re already planning watch parties in the middle of the night when we’re back in Germany! After today’s game, we rushed back to our hotel to catch the rest of Alabama vs. Georgia, and now we’re sitting here watching Boise State vs. Fresno State. Never thought we’d get this hooked on football. Thanks for introducing us to this amazing sport! 🙏

Preliminary data continues to be assessed at NWS Mobile, seeing a distinct corridor of enhanced winds (80–110+ mph) WEST of where Hurricane Isaias made landfall. Data review and quality control will continue, with a final post-storm assessment expected in the coming days.

We did at the *very last* minute get rapid core collapse in Hurricane #Isaias as extreme wind shear finally began ventilating the eye. Central pressure rose 13mb in 2 hours between the last two aircraft measurements, and the eyewall structure on radar fully opened up. However, highly dangerous conditions are ongoing on the ground as Isaias nears imminent landfall in the vicinity of Destin, #Florida. Hope everyone stays safe tonight.

As a hurricane model developer, one of the things I like to do is look at observations to evaluate how well the model is doing with TC structure. For HAFS-B, comparing the forecast radar structure with the current observed shows that today's 12z run and even yesterday's 12z run did a pretty good job of showing the "half-moon" structure with the core still somewhat intact. The runs from a couple days ago were too weak and also too slow-moving. We'll have to see how we can make improvements to model physics, initialization, etc for this and other cases.

JUST IN: Saildrone Explorer SD-1045 passed through the eye of Category 3 Hurricane Isaias, recording wind gusts over 90 knots (103 mph). This is the same USV that filmed inside Hurricane Sam in 2021, setting a Guinness World Record. Watch ↓ @NOAA_AOML @noaapmel
