NY Voters: This is Important! Vote NO on the Mamdani power grab charter revision amendments on your ballot and spread the word. These amendments will take away community input and voices, as well as reasonable checks and balances and oversight, in so many areas—street sheds, tall towers, street usage, architectural preservation, contract review and so much more. It’s a power grab. This is the first time a mayor convened a commission so quickly after taking office . Other mayors wait until they have the experience to see what we really need . Then he picked someone to head it who like him has no municipal government experience. The result is a gift to special interests and lobbyists. The summary below is from the @OneCityRisingNY voter guide which was prepared by Independant, Dem and GOP volunteers who looked at the facts objectively. Vote No!!! @OneCityRisingNY @nyc_evsa @Shebbie4nyc @AFineBlogger @dylanypyen @gtjco @bronxilla @stick_dynamite @katiewr31413491

Hey, NYT, if you're telling people whether the subways are "safer" or not than they used to be, here's the data points you should use! You're welcome. 1/3

Please vote NO on all five New York City Charter amendments. The stakes could not be higher. These proposals if passed would fundamentally change how decisions are made in our city, with consequences that could last for generations. This is a power play by the mayor to concentrate power in the executive branch, and cut out opportunities for the public, and even our community boards and city council representatives, to dissent. It is authoritarian and must be rejected. At stake is the future of community input, accountability, and the checks and balances that protect New Yorkers from bad policies. If these amendments pass, we believe the city will lose important safeguards, community boards will be substantially weakened, and ordinary New Yorkers will have fewer meaningful opportunities to influence decisions affecting their neighborhoods and their lives.

Calling community input "red tape" should worry everyone. If these proposals, drafted heavily by @openplans, @TransAlt , become law @nyc_dot could close streets, restrict access, movement — hand public space to real estate interests, with no community voice in the process.

please pay attention: @NYCCFB @NYSCOELIG and address this clear violation of election law. There is nothing neutral or educational about this. The administration is using taxpayer funds to get people to vote yes by saying this will deliver a faster government. It’s also a big fat lie. What they really want to do is eliminate the possibility of any dissent on any of their plans. They want to be able to give gifts to their special interests without anyone in the community objecting , just like they do in authoritarian regimes. Every community board president, every city council representative, every community leader, district leader or elected should be objecting to this flagrant misuse of taxpayer funds. We say : VOTE NO ON ALL FIVE. @OneCityRisingNY @nyc_evsa
The city is not supposed to spend funds on electoral campaigns so this is "get out the vote" campaign that is HEAVILY implying you should vote a certain way without saying it. We saw the same thing with the City Council last year, and the year before.

.@TransAlt lobby group is funded by @uber @lyft @VerraMobility They want private vehicles removed from NYC streets to benefit their funders. Nothing to do with safety.
Red tape and overly bureaucratic processes are keeping our streets dangerous.
