Such a great night at Ole Miss as we celebrate the recently named, Ray Mabus Department of Political Science. Ray, served as Governor, Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Secretary of the Navy. So glad to get to visit with Reggie Love, longtime personal aid to President Obama, former Ambassador to Singapore David Adelman, longtime Mississippi Attorney General Mike Moore and our dear friend, Zach Scruggs.

Highlight of tonight’s ceremony renaming the @OleMiss Dept. of Political Science to the RAY MABUS Dept. of Political Science was the @OleMiss band surprising Ray with the Marine Corps Hym and “Anchors Away” in honor of his being the longest serving Secretary of the Navy since WWI.

I stopped by Renee and Alex’s memorials today and was inspired to see all those who showed up to pay their respects and leave an “I voted” sticker. We have not forgotten. Accountability is coming.

On this day in 1872, Susan B. Anthony broke the law and voted for the first time. This was illegal because women were not allowed to vote. She was arrested, charged with voting unlawfully, and fined $100 (which she never paid). Cheers to all who celebrated her legacy, and that of every person who fought for the right to vote, by casting ballots yesterday.

30 years ago today, President Bill Clinton was re-elected to a second term as President of the United States. In his November 5, 1996, victory speech, he reflected on the progress made over the previous four years and looked ahead to the work still to come. He spoke about putting differences aside, finding common ground and building on the shared values that bring Americans together. "America always wins" when we set aside our differences and work together, he told the crowd that night. Three decades later, his message about the importance of unity and working together continues to resonate.

Dolores Huerta taught generations that organizing is an act of hope. Throughout her life she fought for farm workers, women, working families, and she reminded us all: Sí, se puede. I was lucky to know her and will forever be inspired by her example. Holding her family in my heart.

We mourn the passing of Dolores Huerta, a pioneering force in the struggle for civil rights and a fearless champion of migrant workers and working people. Her courage and conviction helped shape the conscience of our nation, and her life was a testament to the belief that dignity and justice belong to us all. From organizing farmworkers in California to advancing the broader struggle for labor and civil rights, Dolores stood alongside those whose voices had too often been silenced. She understood that racial equality and economic justice were inseparable, and that lasting change required communities to stand together. For our family, her passing carries a deeply personal significance. Dolores shared a cherished friendship with my beloved mother, Coretta Scott King, forged through their shared commitment to justice and their work advancing the Civil Rights Movement. Their friendship reflected the deep bonds between the struggles for Black and Latino equality and the belief that our collective strength will always be greater than the forces seeking to divide us. Her enduring rallying cry, “Sí, se puede,” was more than a slogan. It was a declaration of hope and a reminder of the power of ordinary people to achieve extraordinary change. Our hearts are with her family, loved ones, and all those whose lives she touched. As we honor her remarkable legacy, may we carry forward her unwavering commitment to justice, build bridges across communities, and continue the unfinished work of creating a nation where freedom, equality, and dignity are realized for all. Sí, se puede. Yes, we can.

Donald Trump wanted to make this election about him. He got his wish, and that's why voters are turning to Democrats in droves.
