Goo Goo Dolls mgr Artie Kwitchoff: “#Buffalo had this really vibrant music scene. A lot of really talented musicians & all of them ended up… at the end of the bar, telling stories & I was determined that if nothing else, I’d get the band out of Buffalo.”

Jack Kerouac died on this day in 1969. He was 47.
Kerouac described On the Road as 'a story about two Catholic buddies roaming the country in search of God. And we found him. I found him in the sky, in Market Street San Francisco (those 2 visions), and Dean (Neal) had God sweating out of his forehead all the way. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY OUT FOR THE HOLY MAN: HE MUST SWEAT FOR GOD. And once he has found Him, the Godhood of God is forever Established and really must not be spoken about.'
Though many may ignore or overlook this aspect of Kerouac' oeuvre and life, and misinterpret his writings based on what they wish the text were saying, Kerouac was a Catholic, and almost every page of his diary has drawings of crosses, prayers, and appeals to Christ.
'He and I suddenly saw the whole country like an oyster for us to open; and the pearl was there, the pearl was there.'
In the Taconics, discovered a unique bookstore in barn at 1786 Wilson Homestead, Hebron, N.Y. It’s well stocked, redolent of old books & the woman who runs it is a delight. Picked up some Steinbeck, Faulkner, Dostoyevsky & Tolstoy. I’ll be busy for a bit. #WritingCommunity #books

In case you were wondering if Larry Ellison would use his partial ownership of TIKTok to shut down the exposure of his billionaire buddies and their weirdness, corruption and grifting … wonder no more. TikTok just shut down the media page of the world renowned, Oscar winning director Alex Gibney’s documentary film “MUSK”. The comprehensive documentary on all things Elon. It’s more f&@&’d then you can imagine. The best thing any of us can do now is to go see it! It will blow your mind. Billionaire broke mind virus. Hear it from the people who have known Elon over the years. #BrokeMindVirus

I may never “move with leisurely panache” (tried once, pulled a muscle), but according to Kirkus, my new mystery does! My “prose is crisp” & the whole thing is “a shaggy comic whodunit featuring a sleuth with charm aplenty”! Great way to start the day!

Trevor Noah is the greatest export we ever made, just listen to how he answered the “White Genocide” question on this interview, such a true patriot of the country. 🙌🏾🇿🇦.

Chris Rock just nailed one of the biggest problems with wokeness.
Helping people who feel marginalized is good. He says so himself. The trouble starts when a good cause becomes an institution.
The first few witches were real. Then you open a witch office. Now there are salaries, budgets and pensions to justify, and the office needs a steady supply of witches to keep existing.
That’s the trap. Once a cause becomes a career, solving the problem means losing your job. So the problem never gets solved. It just keeps getting redefined.
A system built to find wrongdoing will keep finding it, whether it’s there or not.
The dysfunction is the plan. A shadow of a press briefing for a few days under Zacharia, followed by her ouster which then becomes the top story. Meanwhile, the grift goes on…

If a great Irish writer’s books can no longer be published in the UK because she stands with Palestine, the question isn’t what law might Sally Rooney have broken, it’s what sort of country has Britain become. irishtimes.com/culture/books…
I’ll say it again: Increasingly sports journalism is in service of sports gambling.
After a decorated 24-year run at ESPN, Nicole Noren resigned in protest.
She couldn’t go along with the network’s all-out embrace of gambling.
For the first time publicly, in @CJR, Noren shares the deeply personal reasons behind her decision.

Hegseth wants to livestream a public execution for the same reason ISIS livestreamed/posted their public executions: to radicalize & recruit the same demographic of downwardly-mobile, low IQ, credulous 17-27 year old males that ISIS snuff films attracted.
