This is going to become a go to response to a lot of BS over the next few months:

Patrick Stewart is the reason we got a new TV. We had one of those eponymous wooden cabinet CRT TVs growing up. My brother and I were the remote controls. And, as we aged together, the tube began to fail. The TV would take longer and longer to warm up.

My brother and I couldn’t watch cartoons after school because there was no picture, just sound. As time went by it took an hour, two hours, three hours to get an image. And, as you can imagine, my parents weren’t overly sympathetic that we couldn’t watch Children’s BBC.

But then Star Trek: The Next Generation premiered. And the TV was unwatchable. My dad bought a new TV. Thank you, @SirPatStew. My Scottish dad loved you and Star Trek so much he cracked open his wallet as soon as he couldn’t sit in delight at your adventures every week. ❤️

Seeing the president’s plane was meant as a treat for those at the White House Halloween event. But for some outside the Executive Mansion, it was more of a scary trick when they looked up yesterday evening to see the underside of a 747 flying low and slow over DC. The video below is the view from across the Potomac in Virginia. The Washington Post reports that one big complaint from local officials is that they only got 15 minutes' notice about the flyover. The jet, of course, is known as Air Force One when the president is aboard. Flight tracking data showed the plane’s altitude was between 400 and 1000 feet. For reference, the Washington Monument is 555 feet 5 1/8 inches. There was a ground stop at nearby Reagan National Airport during the event. #WhiteHouse #flyover #aviation @ARLnowDOTcom @MidwestSafetyYT @HillaryHowardDC @NFTC_News @matthewyoung31 @MikeEmanuelFox @MacFarlaneNews @Acosta @dclinenews @tomsherwood

I was on Connecticut Avenue when it went over and I straight up yelled. Seeing a plane that size fly over that low (and it seemed so SLOW) was unnerving.

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026) Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love. We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway. America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire. His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen. Ian McKellen 29 October 2026 Photo: University of Huddersfield

#RIP Patrick Stewart of Star Trek and X Men ... On 12-4-1997, after getting a @PressClubDC coffee mug, he was asked, "Just from a purely logical point of view, why is it that a Captain whose name is Jean-Luc Picard have a perfect English accent?" Patrick Stewart answer here:

We lost one of the greats of stage and screen today. And, in my book, a tremendous friend and man. I learned so much from him. I will miss you, Patrick Stewart, all of my days. @mang0ld

What a heartbreaking week it has been. Sir Patrick Stewart was a friend, a colleague, and a magnificent actor. From the stage to the bridge of the Enterprise, he brought intelligence, grace, and a deep sense of humanity to everything he did. Captain Picard stood for the best of us, and so did the man who played him. I was filled with affection and admiration for him and his work. My heart goes out to Sunny and his family. He will be deeply missed.

Remembering this and other anecdotes in Patrick Stewart's memoir. RIP.
A delightful anecdote in @SirPatStew’s new memoir, from his time filming DUNE (1984).

OBAMA: The president wasn't even mad. About The Saddam Hussein comparison. That part didn't bother him. But he was very upset about The Cheesecake Factory. He took great umbrage. He said I didn't understand the work of the artisans in the White House. They mobilized a whole of government response to that joke. Not to inflation, but to that joke.

The #Chiefs add Justin Tucker, the 7-time Pro Bowler, to their practice squad, the first time he's signed since serving a 10-game suspension for violating the league's Personal Conduct Policy. He's insurance for Harrison Butker, who has missed 15 total kicks since the start of the 2025 season.

Amy Acton's stepfather's surviving biological daughter spoke to The Daily Mail when they knocked on her door in Ohio, while sobbing. She said: She believed Amy's story, because her father raped her sister more than once (the victim in this 1974 indictment); she remembered Amy lived in a tent with Donna and Cledith; it's been terrible for her family to see Vivek's ad run in Ohio; and she heard rumors her father had victimized even more young girls.
NEW: I obtained the full Trumbull County file for Amy Acton's stepfather's 1974 charge which shows that he was indicted for incest involving his 16-year-old biological daughter in 1973. The sheriff was then unable to locate him to serve him a summons in the county and nothing further happened in the case. Donna Arthur, featured in Vivek Ramaswamy's still-running campaign ad, married Cledith the next year in a neighboring county.
