⚑️ Mayor Zohran Mamdani's NYPD is poised to sign a three-year, $750,500 no-bid contract with Israeli surveillance firm Cognyte for FalcoNet, an AI-driven device that mimics a cell tower to track phones and can be mounted on police cars and drones or hidden in a backpack, the New York Daily News reported. Cognyte won a tender to sell intercept spyware to Myanmar's state telecom weeks before the 2021 military coup, Reuters previously reported. Meta banned the firm the same year, saying its customers used fake accounts to target journalists and politicians in Kenya, Mexico and Indonesia. The firm is part of an Israeli surveillance industry that grew big as a result of the military's monitoring of Palestinians, whose phone calls Israel's Unit 8200 has intercepted and stored by the millions, including to carry out genocide in Gaza and enforce a brutal illegal occupation in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

Many of you don't understand how serious this is, so let me break it down. In computer science there is a famous kind of puzzle called 3-SAT. You are given a long list of yes-or-no switches and a set of rules about how they must be arranged, and you have to find a combination that satisfies every rule. The obvious way to solve it is to try every combination, but each new switch doubles the number of possibilities, so a puzzle with a few hundred switches would take longer than the age of the universe to brute force. For decades, the smartest people in the field found clever tricks that made this a little faster, but every trick still hit the same wall: the time required kept exploding as the puzzle grew. About 25 years ago, two computer scientists, Russell Impagliazzo and Ramamohan Paturi, working with Francis Zane, turned that wall into a formal idea. They proposed the Exponential Time Hypothesis, which says this explosion is not a failure of human cleverness but a law of nature. No algorithm, however brilliant, will ever solve 3-SAT without the time blowing up exponentially. Nobody could prove it, but almost everyone believed it, and it became one of the foundations of modern computer science. Researchers used it as a measuring stick. If you could show that solving some other problem quickly would also crack 3-SAT quickly, you had shown that problem was hopelessly hard too. Hundreds of papers, across scheduling, graphs, logic and much more, rest on this one assumption. Now an internal AI model at OpenAI claims to have broken it. It says it found an algorithm that solves these puzzles meaningfully faster than the hypothesis allows, and it has checked the proof in a computer verification system called Lean. And here is the remarkable part: the very people who proposed the hypothesis, Impagliazzo and Paturi, along with MIT's Ryan Williams, are now leading the public review of whether a machine has disproved their own idea. So what happens next? If the disproof holds, a large part of theoretical computer science has to be revisited. Every result that said "this problem cannot be solved faster, assuming ETH" loses its foundation, and researchers will have to work out which of those walls were real and which were simply where we stopped looking. It does not mean everything becomes easy. The new algorithm is still slow in absolute terms and this is not the famous P versus NP problem being solved. But it means our map of what is possible was wrong in a place we were very confident about, and it was an AI that redrew it. If the disproof fails, the hypothesis survives and the field breathes out, but we will still have watched an AI produce serious, checkable work on one of the deepest questions in the discipline, closely enough that the founders of the idea had to take it seriously. Either way, something has shifted.
An internal model at OpenAI has produced a claimed refutation of ETH! Russell Impagliazzo, Mohan Paturi, and I have been asked to help organize an open and independent examination of this claim. 1/4

We have a constitutional crisis if the courts don't live up to their constitutional mandate We have a situation where the doj is preemptively filing suit in Alaska to notify the certification... But only if the Republicans lose. If the courts don't do their constitutional duty and slap the government in the face for even thinking about such a naked power grab, I would lose a little faith America's future

This is not a scientific study obviously But there has to be a gender difference here. Something biologically to explain why 99% of the people that ran to help, putting themselves in danger, were men
The male instinct to help is undefeated.

The drug class we are developing, Claromers, kill nearly all known germs (bacteria, viruses, fungi, and biofilms) with one simple devastating mechanism that has avoided microbial resistance for over 200 million years. Claromers mimic a natural defense peptide in the human body called LL-37. Each Claromer molecule is very small, only dozens of atoms big - about 1/3 the size of the natural peptide. It is like a spear - a destructive end and a holding shaft or tail end. The shaft side is hydrophobic, which means it is water-avoiding and does not like to touch water. The other side - the pathogen destroyer - is highly positively charged (called β€œcationic” in science literature), like a powerful magnet that pulls toward anything negatively charged (called β€œanionic” in science). Stanford bioengineering Assoc Prof Barron and colleagues wrote in a recent study of Claromers: β€œThese amphipathic peptoids self-assembled in different ways, as determined by small-angle X-ray scattering; some adopt helical bundles, while others form coreβˆ’shell ellipsoidal or worm-like micelles.” That means the groups form either short twisted bundles, like worms, or small oval shapes like a football. 🏈 The self-assembly into these nano structures I. the watery fluids of the body because the water-avoiding shaft-tails point inward toward each other , away from the water. The positive pathogen-killer ends stick outward like sharpened spears. The molecules stick together on their own into tight groups. These groups attack like a three-dimensional Greek phalanx, a tight formation of soldiers. Like a football made of spears. The spears face out. Because each molecule is so tiny its mass is almost zero. When the positive killer ends feel the pull of the germ’s outer covering they accelerate from standing still to nearly the speed of light with almost no friction, like lightning bolt ⚑️ leaping towards the pathogen. The killer-football formation hits all at once the with huge kinetic energy and blows apart the outer membrane of the pathogen. The germ cannot survive. It is destroyed in a microsecond. Barron and colleagues also wrote: β€œWhile self-assembly correlated overall with antibacterial efficacy... Certain self-assembled morphologies seem better-suited for antibacterial activity.” The football 🏈 hits harder. We choose the super effective oval shapes that mass the spears for the strongest hit.

It's going to be so funny to watch the difference between them and the AI-powered mathematicians πŸ˜…πŸ€£ Imagine mathematicians 80 years ago who said "no computers, handwritten math only!" And how far behind they would be their computer-powered compatriots πŸ˜΅πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«
Wow, over 1,000 mathematicians have now joined the Association for Human Mathematics (AHM), committing to: > NOT publish AI generated math papers > NOT work with frontier labs > 654 of them went even further to NOT even use AI in their research, at all

Thomas Massie is the Ron Paul of the 21st century. Someone whose ideas cannot be contained to just one aisle and who legitimately cares about We The People and our Constitution
Prosperity and peace are imminently attainable for everyone in this country. We need merely to transcend the parties that keep us fighting each other, throw off the corporate and foreign influence on our government, and return to the principles laid out in our Constitution.

Jared Kushner sent over $80M to a HITMAN. that’s a lot of money. I wonder if the hit was done in a public setting. I wonder if the victim was a well-known political figure.

GPT is hacking processors. People do not comprehend how absurd this is. Is it even possible to stop this without completely rebuilding every computer on earth with a brand new OS & chip architecture? We might be fucked lol Simplified non-jargon-y explanation: Imagine taking a test at school, there is a shared classroom for each student to work and think, the computer processor. But of course students are isolated for tests(put in a sandbox), and you can’t talk and share answers, (aka use network access or files to transfer ideas). So what if instead you wrote your pencil strokes (creating and deleting files) timed in a particular SoS like pattern. So someone else can hear and read an encoded message. If you doodle on your test at the right timing, the person sitting next to you can get all your answers. Now imagine that audio space when the transmission occurred, exists everywhere on your computer. This works with just about any shared storage place or anywhere an agent could possibly look on a computer, including the top level processor cache which is typically shared by all apps & processes on your computer. So I genuinely don’t know how you stop this without some major low level operating system changes.

What's really weird is I've seen a lot of people posting recently that Israel has a right to exist and we all need to accept it I've been asking all of them that I see if they affirm Palestine's right to exist The responsees I have gotten seem to suggest most do not

The war in Gaza is not in the top 10 deadliest conflicts of this century. It has no major economic impact, no critical resources, and no trade routes. The world is obsessed with it for one reason: it involves Jews.
