Coastal is where the majority of tax revenue comes from and alone would have a GDP of $3 trillion. Inland would have a GDP of a bit over 500 billion.
Coastal would also have almost all of the electoral votes and congressional members. Inland would effectively be a bigger Mississippi without the ability to fund public services those areas rely on.
