This is why Bukayo Saka will always be special to me. ❤️ Not just because he wears the Arsenal shirt, but because of the person he is away from the pitch. Imagine being that little boy and having someone you admire care this much. Absolutely beautiful.
Hearing Bukayo Saka read that little boy’s letter was genuinely emotional. Forget football for a second. This is what really matters. Knowing you’ve made a difference in someone’s life is worth more than any trophy. What a human being. What a legend. ❤️

Recently, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi announced he would step down in 2030. In a Reaction Shot for Diwan, @SayighYezid asks whether this was political theater, or perhaps Sisi's effort to widen his margin of maneuver with regard to the military: carnegieendowment.org/middle… #Egypt #Sisi

US energy company execs have resigned in disgust as the Trump family is caught secretly expediting the funneling of $25 billion from a sanctioned Russian energy giant in exchange for allowing Russians to obtain a natural gas project in Alaska. According to investigations by The New York Times and Financial Times, Russia's Novatek allegedly concealed its financial involvement in the American project through a UAE-linked intermediary. Gentry Beach, a longtime Trump ally and close friend of Donald Trump Jr., signed an agreement with Novatek to pursue natural gas development in Alaska. Reuters documented the arrangement in February. Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin discussed this cooperation on the Alaska energy project with Trump's representatives, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, during negotiations involving Russia and Ukraine. The controversy deepened when Polar Train LNG's CEO, Joel Riddle, raised concerns about concealed Russian financing and possible sanctions violations. He departed in September, followed by other senior executives. The Financial Times also described discussions about a potential arrangement under which Novatek would provide technology for the Alaska project in exchange for sanctions relief benefiting its Arctic LNG 2 development in Siberia. According to The New York Times, Riddle and two other departing executives warned the Trump administration about the Russian financing and urged officials to investigate. The White House maintains that the project was mentioned only briefly and that no detailed discussions took place. There is no established evidence that Kushner or Witkoff knew about the allegedly concealed financing. Polar Train LNG denies wrongdoing. The central question is how a sanctioned Russian energy company became involved in a major American energy venture while Putin was discussing potential economic cooperation with Trump's representatives and a longtime Trump family associate was pursuing a separate agreement with the same Russian company. Selling Alaska to the Russians or selling Ukraine to the Russians - to the Trump family it's all the same. ft.com/content/e9cfbfbb-e65a…

Gadi Eizenkot, this evening, shortly after the reports, approved by Israeli censorship, that Chief of Staff Zamir has been standing firm andblocking Netanyahu from intentionally provoking a war before the elections. "Netanyahu, my eyes are on you. The man on whose watch the greatest disaster in the nation’s history occurred refuses to understand that Israel’s security is not a political bargaining chip, the lives of Israeli citizens and IDF soldiers are not abandoned property, and the State of Israel is not his private property. I have full confidence in Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir and the IDF commanders who act out of professional responsibility and absolute commitment to the state's security. We will not allow the IDF to be turned into a tool in Netanyahu’s survival campaign. I warn Netanyahu: Do not dare to place your political interests above the security of the state. Holding the elections on schedule and completing the democratic process is a central component of Israel's national resilience. We will not allow you to jeopardize Israel’s future in order to preserve your rule. In two days, the citizens of Israel will put an end to the reign of recklessness and restore responsibility, statesmanship, and Israel’s security. I give my word.

Sure, why not? A certain level of irony is creeping in. The largest holder of contracts to sell LNG is rapidly becoming one of the bigger buyers of contracted LNG after years of struggling to sell more contracted LNG. Have to wonder if they could do it all again, would they have skipped the domestic expansions and just bought US LNG? @ColumbiaUEnergy

The GRU hacked into Jared Kushner's iPhone. Dutch military intelligence (MIVD) then recruited a GRU spy who gave them access to the hacked phone. What MIVD discovered was that Kushner had access to two bank accounts --one Azerbaijani, the other Israeli --where Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Emirati ruler Mohammed bin Zayed deposited money. It sounds like a slightly far-fetched episode of "Slow Horses," but it's real. And it proves just how eye-poppingly corrupt this administration was and continues to be as its "special envoy" decides the fate of tens of millions in Europe in the Middle East. Simply incredible reporting by Matthew Cole, drawn from his new book on Kushner. vanityfair.com/story/jared-k…

Some numbers for context: #Jackdaw aims to produce 2bn cu metres/y of gas; UK output fell by 1.5bn cu metres in Jan-Jul this year to 17bn cu metres, covering just under half of demand. Meanwhile US gas production increased by 28bn cu metres in same period.

Among the earliest advertised Egyptian anti drone products was a series of standalone jammers and sensors, developed between 2018 and 2021, Egypt proceeded to integrate these sensors on APCs, MRAPs and other vehicles as the “Hares” series.

Egypt's Possible Saudi-Backed Military Intervention in Yemen Sparks Heated Debate Across Egyptian Media 🇪🇬🇸🇦🇾🇪 A heated debate is unfolding across Egypt over whether Cairo will deploy military forces to Saudi Arabia or become directly involved in the war against the Houthis in Yemen. The discussion has spread across major television programs and political @YouTube channels, reaching millions of viewers and exposing divisions over Egypt's potential involvement in another regional war. At the center of the debate are President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi @AlsisiOfficial's recent statements pledging to defend Saudi Arabia and his reference to seeking parliamentary authorization if necessary. Sisi stated, "We will take whatever measures are necessary to protect and defend you," while emphasizing that Egypt's intentions were defensive rather than offensive. Amr Adib @Amradib, one of Egypt's most prominent television personalities, discussed the country's military capabilities with Brig. Gen. Samir Ragheb, a military analyst and head of the Arab Foundation for Development and Strategic Studies. Their discussion focused on Egypt's counter-drone capabilities, including laser-based interception systems. Ragheb described these weapons as an additional layer of air defense, particularly against low-altitude drones. He claimed that laser interception could cost as little as "$1 to $5" per engagement, compared with tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars for conventional interceptors. Although the discussion centered on military technology rather than a confirmed deployment to Yemen, it highlighted capabilities Egypt could potentially contribute to defending Saudi infrastructure against Houthi drones. Meanwhile, Happy Citizen ,@ASaidOfficial a political YouTube commentator with more than 2.7 million subscribers, examined President Sisi's statements and the possibility of Egyptian military intervention. The discussion focused on Article 152 of Egypt's Constitution and the requirements for deploying armed forces on combat missions outside Egyptian territory. The program raised questions about whether Egyptian forces would undertake "defensive missions or combat missions" and why Cairo would consider entering a conflict it had previously avoided. The commentator questioned the strategic justification for intervention, asking, "Why should we enter this war ourselves?" @egychanal, hosted by journalist Ahmed Abdel Hadi @shbabmasrleader and followed by 894,000 subscribers, explored what it described as a possible "new Egyptian-Saudi military alliance" that could alter the regional balance of power. In an October 19 broadcast, Abdel Hadi examined whether Cairo and Riyadh were moving beyond political coordination toward direct military cooperation against the Houthis. He raised concerns about the possibility of Egypt becoming involved in "a war whose limits only God knows" and questioned whether Saudi Arabia genuinely required Egyptian military intervention. His program also discussed Egypt's military intervention in Yemen during the 1960s, warning that a new deployment could expose Egyptian forces to similar risks. @moatazmatar, whose official YouTube channel has 4.94 million subscribers, delivered one of the strongest criticisms of possible Egyptian intervention. Matar questioned why Egypt would consider sending troops to defend Saudi Arabia after repeatedly refusing direct military involvement in Gaza. He argued that Egyptians had been told for years that direct intervention in Gaza would endanger the country's national security. Matar also criticized Sisi's reference to Saudi leadership's "directives," interpreting the language as suggesting that Egypt was allowing another government to influence decisions involving Egyptian soldiers. He claimed that Egyptian naval forces were already operating near Jeddah, including rotating naval formations and attack craft. These specific claims remain independently unverified. @Sayedgoubeyal's Ne3raf, a current affairs channel with 1.1 million subscribers, examined the constitutional and strategic implications of intervention. Its coverage questioned why parliamentary authorization would be necessary if Egyptian forces were being deployed solely for defensive purposes. The program suggested that seeking parliamentary approval could indicate preparations for "combat missions rather than purely defensive operations." It also raised concerns about the Houthis' missile and drone capabilities and the possibility that Egyptian forces could face a prolonged confrontation. @osgaweesh, whose YouTube channel has 1.05 million subscribers, hosted political analyst Dr. Osama Abu Irshaid for a discussion titled "Egypt Officially Enters the Yemen War and Sisi Awaits Saudi Orders." The title reflected the program's political interpretation rather than a confirmed Egyptian combat deployment. Gaweesh questioned Sisi's statements about Saudi leadership, asking why "the president of one country speaks about waiting for directives from the leader of another country." Abu Irshaid criticized Egypt's regional priorities, arguing that Cairo had remained relatively passive on security challenges involving Gaza, Sudan, Libya and the Red Sea. He questioned why Egypt appeared prepared to act militarily over Saudi Arabia when threats to its own national security had not produced comparable responses. The wider debate reflects three competing positions. Some commentators consider military support for Saudi Arabia necessary to protect "Arab national security," secure maritime navigation through Bab al-Mandab and safeguard Egypt's economic interests in the Suez Canal. Others support defensive assistance, including air defense systems, naval deployments and intelligence cooperation, but oppose sending Egyptian ground forces into Yemen. A third group rejects military involvement altogether, warning that Egypt risks repeating its costly experience in Yemen during the 1960s. The central question is no longer simply whether Egypt supports Saudi Arabia, but how far Cairo is prepared to go militarily. Air defense assistance, naval patrols, protection of Saudi infrastructure and direct combat operations inside Yemen represent very different levels of military commitment. Despite the increasingly heated public discussion, the available information does not establish that Egypt has formally authorized or begun combat operations inside Yemen. However, What is clear is that the prospect of Egyptian intervention has become a major issue across Egypt's media landscape, with commentators debating its constitutional, military, economic and political consequences.

Egypt's leaders plan a military curated succession while attacking what's left of independent press. The impunity fueling this was fostered by the US waiving rights conditions on military aid & the EU falsely claiming Egypt improved rights to disburse billions in conditioned aid.
Lina Attalah, Mada Masr’s editor-in-chief, received a summons today from the Supreme State Security Prosecution to attend a questioning session on Wednesday, October 21. The summons did not say why she is being questioned. The new investigation, Case 9072/2026, is the sixth case brought against Mada Masr, its journalists and its editor-in-chief in the past six years. The most recent was in August 2025, when the security prosecution released Attalah on LE30,000 bail. She was questioned at the time on charges of “broadcasting false news” and “using a website without a license,” based on a National Security Agency investigation report, in relation to a Mada Masr story on prisoners’ complaints of abuse in detention facilities. When asked why she trusted the sources cited in the story, Attalah said she had abided by professional journalistic standards and had acted in the public interest. She also pointed to the legally protected right to inform authorities of events through publication, noting that the outlet presents a full range of viewpoints. storage.googleapis.com/madam…

لقراءة التفاصيل، bit.ly/4Bf8skN

Directives sent out to all state-backed “influencers” prove otherwise. This is but political maneuver. There is no way he’s voluntarily leaving office. Remember this tweet.
On Wednesday, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi reiterated his promise not to exceed his constitutionally permitted tenure. His assurances follow a pattern of similar public commitments not to seek longer or additional terms in office before presidential term limits were extended in 2019. Is this time different? Mada Masr spoke to political and judicial sources who had different readings, with some saying there is a direction to transfer power and others stressing that the comments do not close the door on possible pathways for the president to stay in office beyond 2030. storage.googleapis.com/madam…

Big development. Let's see if it sticks. If it does, stepping down would be an important part of Pres Sisi's legacy.
Egypt's President Sisi, in power since 2014, says his presidency will end in 2030 and the matter is "settled." He has also said there are no plans to change the constitution, amid rumours of a fourth term. "The coming period, in 2030, will be the end of my term as head of state, if God grants me life. This is completely settled and will not be discussed,” Sisi said. Amendments passed in 2019 extended presidential terms from four to six years and kept a two-term limit. They counted Sisi's first term as starting in 2018, which clears the way for him to serve until 2030. Sisi also unveiled a plan to train Egypt's next generation of leaders. PhD holders would spend 30 months at a state academy, and Egyptians would then elect from among them.

Image Made With AI
