Isaiah / Valar are on a role with these recent hires
Just an insane level of talent landing in the company
Building something generational / civilizational
Excited to welcome Brian Cummings to Valar Atomics as VP of Nuclear Operations!
Brian has spent 20+ years both regulating and running nuclear facilities across the Navy, NRC, DOE, and new advanced nuclear companies.
At INL, Brian ran the nuclear safety oversight program and led nuclear operations for the TREAT reactor facility. At Kairos, he helped to develop the Hermes PSAR and led the execution of their TRISO plant.
Brian has chosen to take the next step in advanced nuclear and join us on our mission to make energy cheaper and more abundant in the universe than ever before. Grateful to have him on the team!

Composite parts for western drones, made in America, more than competitive with China - what's not to like 🦾
Incredible team (and if you've met them you know this!) did this first for F1 cars, now taking best in class materials and manufacturing to scale
Going to be a wild ride 📈

Kevin Ryan / @tferriss on deep tech:
→ 10-year trends - hot now means too late
→ 2nd order effects - assume trend, then what?
→ nuclear wasn't hot - no policy path, pre-capex build out ⇒ we co-lead Valar's seed
→ robots will scale - 100-10,000x / single-task / factories first
→ e-com is solved - nuclear, cancer, energy aren't.

Bureaucracy has already throttled space exploration, and this article proposes creating a UN-affiliated 'Planetary Stewardship Council'? As a species, there are few things we actually agree upon here on Earth, so how could this possibly advance progress in space?
No. The authors incredible accomplishments aside, as a society we need fewer bureaucrats regulating tethered caps on plastic water bottles and more doers if we want to see even a glimpse of that exciting future so many of us imagined as children.
When the capabilities are there to send NASA astronauts back to the Moon and on to Mars, we will go. We will do so thoughtfully, as we always have, and we will do so for all mankind.

When @josephfkrause told us he would reinvent material science discovery
He meant he would reinvent material science discovery
This is *awesome*
RAI-939 outperformed industry-leading aerospace material C103 by 125x.
In a head-to-head torch test, Purdue Applied Research Institute confirmed that Radical AI’s RAI-939 sample exhibited superior environmental survivability to C103.
C103 has been in use since the Apollo program, but its performance limitations and constrained supply have fueled a decades-long search for a replacement.
Our lab discovered that replacement in just 16 weeks.
Now, we aim to scale up production of the alloy to make bigger components.

Exciting moment to share our investment with @AvatarRobots with the world
@thecolinwebb and the team are doing one of a kind work *actually scaling* robots today, with teleops and AI systems that work *today*
We backed them before deployment, now they are approaching 1M items - awesome to see compounding things compound
There are a ton of hard problems to solve when your goal is scale and real benefit to real *customers* today. Very different from pilots or trials - real robots doing real things with real margins and real payback
Congrats Colin - let's go! 🤖 📈
So proud to announce that Avatar Robotics has raised $6.5M in Seed Funding, led by AlleyCorp, along with a preseed led by defy.vc.
Warehousers around the country are wondering how they’re going to find the help they need to meet this year’s holiday volume.
Robotics companies show great lab demos, but never solve the problems it takes to deploy to real facilities, where work is constantly changing.
Avatar bridges that gap. In under a year, we went from an idea in my living room, to robots that have packed, sorted, and shipped over 900,000 products to consumers nationwide.
With the funding, we’ll be bringing more robots to more facilities, accelerating our path to autonomy, and scaling our growing team of operators and engineers within the Avatar family.
Tremendous thanks to our early customers who welcomed us into their work and challenges, our amazing team who ships solutions at the speed of light, along with our investors Headline, Henry Ford III, Refashiond, Paul Vogel, Jack Huffard, Samuel Udotong, and more.
This has been the most exciting thing I’ve ever worked on, and it’s only the beginning.

"He is applying the Elon playbook to nuclear" 💯
Welcome to the @valaratomics journey, @shaunmmaguire 🫡
As a kid obsessed with physics I dreamed of a nuclear future
But since the 1980s the regulatory environment made this impossible
Also, as America outsourced its industrial base to China, our demand for power was stagnant
Now there's a double why now: the AI build out + reshoring of manufacturing has made America hungry for power again
Also, nuclear has become a bipartistan issue and the regulatory framework is rapidly improving
Enter @isaiah_p_taylor with @valaratomics
He is applying the Elon playbook to nuclear
Find an industry that America used to be good at, but lost its way on: rockets, tunneling, manufacturing cars
And then go build a simple unit, you can deliver quickly, to get on the exponential ramp in terms of real world feedback + early revenue + technological progress
Then claw your way back to the prior state of the art, before pushing far beyond our prior limits
I believe Isaiah is a generational founder and this is a generational company
@sequoia is ecstatic to partner with him and the Valar team
(Especially when we get to do it with our friends at Valar, Conviction, Atreides, and the early investors here)
And massive thank you to @PalmerLuckey for giving me a tip regarding how special this company is
