How it works
XLightShows founder Simon Pollock (@Teslalightshows) posts one special Christmas show for download on the morning of Dec 12. You play it on your Tesla, alone or with a group, film it, and send in your footage for the official worldwide video.

Get ready, step by step
Step 1: Register free on the XLightShows Worldwide Christmas 2026 page with your name, email, country and location, and say if you are hosting your own show.
Step 2: Check your car. Tesla (@Tesla) lists Model S and Model X from 2021 on, plus every Model 3 and Model Y, on software v11.0 (2021.44.25) or newer.
Step 3: Do a dry run now. Last year's Christmas show files are posted on XLightShows, made for each model. Load one into a LightShow folder on an exFAT or FAT32 drive, then open Toybox, tap Light Show, then Schedule Show.
Step 4: Find a group near you. XLightShows lists club shows in Austin, San Antonio and Washington State so far, plus several in Europe.
Step 5: On Dec 12, download the new show that morning, film in landscape, somewhere dark, in 4K if you can and 1080p at least, and upload the raw footage by midnight.
Tesla Owners Washington asks everyone to hold off posting their video publicly until the worldwide video from @Teslalightshows is out.

Step by step, fix a drive
Step 1: Look at the popup. If it says Light Show instead of Custom Light Show, the car did not find a valid show on the drive.
Step 2: Check the format. exFAT, FAT32, MS DOS FAT on a Mac, ext3 and ext4 work. NTFS does not.
Step 3: Clear out extras. The drive must not have a TeslaCam folder at the top level, or any map or firmware update files.
Step 4: Check the folder. It must be named LightShow, case sensitive, at the top level of the drive, not inside the folder you unzipped.
Step 5: Check the pair. MarineHymn.fseq needs MarineHymn.wav or MarineHymn.mp3 with the exact same name. Tesla recommends .wav.
Step 6: Plug into a front USB, USB C or glovebox port, wait a few seconds, then open Toybox, tap Light Show, then Schedule Show.
If the files are found but the show file has a problem, the car shows an error message, so grab a fresh download.

The first evening of standard time came early, and the work week starts tomorrow. Before it does, lock in one easy plan for next weekend: Tesla's at Cars & Coffee and Lunch Convoy on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at VFW Post 2550, 360 Douglas Ave, Dunedin, FL 34698.
Cars & Coffee goes from 7:30 AM to 10 AM, and the VFW serves its amazing breakfast starting at 8:00 AM. At 9 AM the Teslas meet up for the inaugural EV and Tesla debut at the VFW's monthly show. All types of vehicles are welcome, so bring whatever you drive.
Want a close look at Full Self Driving (Supervised) or Actually Smart Summon before you decide what you think? Tesla owners will run free FSD demos and free Actually Smart Summon demos with their own @Tesla vehicles and talk you through how each one works.
It is a family friendly morning with a playground for the kids, free garlic dill pickles for everyone, and Pinellas Trail bike access for anyone who wants to ride in. Ski & Odin are hosting, and showing up helps support VFW Post 2550.
At 10:30 AM the convoy heads toward Honeymoon Island, one of the Gulf coast gems in the @FLStateParks system, for lunch at Cricketers British Pub from 11 AM to 1 PM. @TeslaFamOrlando, the drive over is a great excuse for a Saturday road trip.

Classic Garlic Dill Pickle 🥒

Brine in bulk, mixed cold
1 gallon water
1 gallon vinegar (1/1)
1 cup canning salt
1/2 cup light raw cane sugar
Makes 2 gallons, about 8 quarts of brine. Mix it cold and park it on the counter while you wash the cucumbers.
Per quart of brine
2 cups water
2 cups vinegar
2 tablespoons canning salt
1 tablespoon light raw cane sugar
Count on close to 2 cups of brine for every packed quart jar, so a single quart of brine takes care of about 2 jars.
Per quart jar
1 large fresh dill sprig (get from produce market)
3 cloves garlic, whole, smashed, or chopped
6 to 10 black peppercorns
A pinch of red pepper flakes
Optional
Mustard seed and bay leaf. I don't usually use them, but they give a classic taste people like, and bay leaves can help keep pickles crunchy.
Always
Cut the blossom (flower bud) end off each cucumber. It has enzymes that can soften pickles.
Steps
1. Mix the cold brine and set it aside.
2. Add the dill, garlic, peppercorns, and red pepper to each clean plastic or glass quart container.
3. Pack the cucumbers, sliced or whole, into the containers.
4. Pour brine over until fully covered.
5. Cover and refrigerate 2 to 3 days, sampling daily.
Layer tip
In a large container (about 6 quarts), pack wholes on the bottom, then halves, then chunks, then slices on top. Dig in from the top, because the slices are the first to turn into pickles.
