PHILLIP BRETT, THE DUP, AND THE PHANTOM DISAPPEARANCE OF "CHRISTIAN VALUES"...
Regardless of what Political Party one supports, the behaviour of Phillip Brett of the DUP at today's Committee for The Executive Office was both extraordinary & breathtaking in it's rudeness, hostility, bigotry and abject immaturity.
In one remarkable spell (of just under three minutes), he managed to display bullying, misogyny and also outright bigotry towards Sinn Fein First Minister Michelle O'Neill.
That really takes some doing...
A cascade of abuse and false accusations directed towards a confident and unflappable First Minister. Michelle O'Neill (as always), was more than capable of handling anything that Brett hurled at her...
And maybe that was Phillip's real problem...
A highly skilled female First Minister showing him what real political leadership and maturity are all about. Time and time again, Brett flung his papers onto his desk, unable to handle his own abject political ineptitude.
And, to end it all, we had a truly comical episode when Brett (now in full Alan Partridge mode) accused Michelle O'Neill of "running away" before promptly grabbing his own briefcase and "running away" himself out of the Committee room...
You just couldn't make it up...
It has to be said that the behaviour of Brett's DUP colleague @deborah_cheryl and the TUV's @TGastonMLA were equally deplorable.
These are Political Representatives who regularly preach about "Christian Values" in the Assembly Chamber, but they are a million light years away from even any the most basic traits of human goodwill or respect...
Is this really the state of Unionism in 2026? Devoid of leadership, devoid of strategy and a simmering melting pot of the very worst of human behaviour...
As for Michelle... She confidently left all the chaos behind her to stride off to Musgrave Street, to make it clear to the PSNI exactly why she had stood on Garvaghy Road, and why she would do it all over again in a heartbeat...
"The times they are a-changing..."

Good article today from Andrée Murphy regarding ongoing attempts to criminalise the Nationalist Community following the recent events on Garvaghy Road.

A huge moment in US politics.
AIPAC, which for decades ploughed untold millions into paying candidates to do Israel's bidding, is ending direct donations. The AIPAC name has become toxic in a country where popular support for Israel has collapsed.

CONCERN GROWS OVER NEXT WEEK'S PARADES COMMISSION DECISION RE THE LOWER ORMEAU ROAD PARADE.
Concern is heightening regarding next week's decision by the Parades Commission on the proposed Lower Ormeau Road parade by the Apprentice Boys, Carl Whyte of the SDLP has expressed concern after his meeting with the Parades Commision yesterday.
He stated that at one point they remarkably defended their decision to authorise the Orange march at Drumcree. He described the meeting as "difficult" and it has now heightened concerns that this could result in a similar determination to Drumcree.
Clearly that would potentially create a security nightmare in the city of Belfast.
The Parades Commission are due to make their decision next Wednesday (28th Oct) with the march due to take place on Saturday 7th November.
🟢 NO SECOND CLASS CITIZENS
🟢 NO GOING BACK...
I was born in the Holylands and spent my early childhood on the Lower Ormeau.
I remember the horror of the Sean Graham massacre and the shock seeing Orange marchers mock those murders as just months later.
I joined @garymckeown who represents the area today at the Parades Commission where we made it clear the Commission cannot pander to loyalist elements who wish to drag Belfast back to a past we have firmly put behind us.
It was a difficult meeting - and remarkably the Commission defended their actions regarding the Drumcree determination - despite both the Chief Constable and the Secretary of State using Section 9 & Section 11 for the first time ever to scrap it.

British Secretary of State saying that he will work with the Parachute Regiment association to “get the bill to the very right place”…
That’s the regiment that perpetrated the Ballymurphy massacre, Bloody Sunday, Springhill massacre, shot Dessie Healey (14), & John Beattie (17)
There was a big turnout tonight in St Comgall's, Belfast tonight for the Lessons from Garvaghy Road debate which was hosted by Gerry Carroll from People Before Profit.
Breandán Mac Cionnaith was the Keynote Speaker. It is great to see so many people from the broader Nationalist & Left-Wing community becoming politically engaged again..

👏🏻 Massive reception as hundreds pack the Montalto Estate for the launch of Sinn Féin Strangford candidate Chris Hazzard’s election campaign.
With new areas coming into Strangford for the first time in the Assembly election next year, Sinn Féin is now in pole position to win a seat.
There has never been a Nationalist MLA in Strangford.
You can change that next May.
You can elect the first Sinn Féin MLA ever in Strangford.
You can elect Chris Hazzard.
Together, let’s make history in Strangford.
