🚨Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall on why he left Chelsea for Everton:
🗣️ Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall: “When I left Chelsea for Everton, people acted like I had destroyed my career.
I remember the comments.
‘Why Everton?’
‘Why leave Chelsea?’
‘He’s gone backwards.’
Honestly, some of it made me laugh.
Because people were looking at the badge instead of looking at my career.
Chelsea is a massive club. I respect that.
But being at a massive club doesn’t automatically mean you’re developing.
Sometimes you can be surrounded by £100 million players and still feel like nobody is really watching you.
That was my reality.
I didn’t want to spend another year trying to convince people at Chelsea that I deserved an opportunity.
I wanted to play football.
Real football.
Important football.
And Everton gave me that.
People talk about Everton like it’s some small club.
I’m sorry, but have you actually looked at the history of this football club?
The stadium, the supporters, the expectations — this isn’t a holiday destination.
You walk into Everton and you immediately understand what responsibility feels like.
Then I met David Moyes.
He didn’t treat me like a player who had come from Chelsea looking for somewhere to hide.
He looked me in the eyes and said, ‘If you’re good enough, you’ll play. If you’re not good enough, I’ll tell you.’
I respected that immediately.
At Chelsea, I sometimes felt like I was fighting to be noticed.
At Everton, Moyes made me feel like I had something to prove every single day.
He gave me responsibility.
He gave me freedom.
And he gave me something I desperately needed confidence.
I made mistakes in training and expected him to destroy me.
Instead, he’d say, ‘Again.’
I’d look at him like, ‘What do you mean again?’
He’d say, ‘You heard me. Do it again.’
That changed me.
He didn’t want a player scared of making mistakes.
He wanted a player brave enough to demand the ball when everything was going wrong.
That’s the player I wanted to become.
So when people say I left Chelsea for Everton, I don’t see it as a step down.
I see it as the moment I stopped waiting for somebody else to decide my value.
And maybe that’s what bothers some Chelsea fans.
Because I didn’t leave and disappear.
I left and started becoming the player I believed I could be.
David Moyes gave me responsibility Chelsea couldn’t give me at that moment.
Everton gave me a reason to fight for my place every weekend.
So if you ask me whether I regret leaving Chelsea?
Not for one second.
I didn’t leave Chelsea because Everton was bigger.
I left because Everton was better for me.
That’s the difference.
Sometimes the club with the bigger name isn’t the club that gives you the bigger career.
Chelsea gave me a big badge.
Everton gave me belief.
And David Moyes gave me my football back.
So people can keep calling Everton a small club.
I’ll keep playing for them.
And maybe one day they’ll understand that I didn’t step backwards.
I simply stepped away from the noise and found a manager who actually believed in me.
That was the best decision I could have made.”

Notice the very first second of this video clip, where Lindsay Lohan pulls her skirt down. Then notice how she's sitting right on the edge of the sofa, leaning away from Russell. She looks visibly uncomfortable.
