Earlier today while at @pwatchug for the university students’ leaders convention organized by parliament of Uganda, @MakGuild Julius Nyerere leadership center where university student leaders gathered and discussed issues of student leadership to do with student welfare, infrastructure and the need for their voices to be heard.
The speaker @ObothOboth reminded us of our role as student leaders in uniting the students at all levels on issues social economic development of Uganda.
Hon @SamBegira informed us of the impact of the different government programs like emyooga and PDM where youth can get access to capital for starting up businesses to supplement on their degrees.

Qn: @Mwijukyeivan to Hon @SamBegira Uganda has rolled out YLP, Emyooga, Youth Venture Capital Fund, PDM, Presidential Skilling Hubs and other wealth-creation interventions, yet a fundamental question remains:
Are these programmes dismantling youth poverty or institutionalising elite-class patronage, political clientelism and economic tokenism?
Who actually controls access, who determines beneficiaries, and what proportion of the resources translates into sustainable enterprises, productive employment and intergenerational wealth?
Is youth empowerment measured by the number of political handshakes, SACCO registrations and ceremonial cheque presentations, or by measurable economic mobility, enterprise survival and decent jobs?
Young people need structural economic transformation, not perpetual management of poverty through politically mediated handouts.
