Gold has struggled to build on its rebound from $4,000 ahead of today's Fed decision, easing back overnight after surrendering part of Tuesday's gains. With higher oil prices keeping inflation risks and bond yields elevated, while central banks continue to accumulate gold in their reserves, soon we could see a decisive move in one or the other direction. I am watching the trend line and a break above it would be a clear bullish signal for me.

with no updated projections I think Warsh has some room to tilt a bit more dovish, similar to July
given mid-terms next week and recent pressure in stocks, I think the motivation will be in that direction

Australia's Q3 CPI lands tomorrow, and it could make or break expectations for another RBA hike in November.
CBA, NAB and ANZ forecast trimmed mean inflation of 1% q/q, with Westpac slightly lower at 0.9%.
Both exceed the RBA's estimated August baseline of 0.8%, reinforcing concerns that inflation is proving more persistent than anticipated.
With markets pricing around a 62% chance of a November hike, there's plenty of scope for repricing in either direction.
