The self-proclaimed activists/politicians and #PotemkinParty sympathizers are so busy betraying their own people that they fail to realize they’re digging their own graves — ጉድጓድ ንፈሓሪኣ! Imagine being so politically blind that you mistake your own people’s downfall for the pursuit of an illusion. What a spectacular act of self-sabotage! Welcomed Ms. Elena Piriondi, Chief of the Executive Board Branch, and Mr. Robert Stevens for a briefing and exchange on the development of the new @UNFPA Country Programme for #Eritrea. Discussions focused on the programme's substantive elements, strategic orientation, development process and alignment with Eritrea's national development priorities. The briefing provided an opportunity to review the proposed areas of cooperation, expected results and the framework for UNFPA's continued engagement in #Eritrea. Emphasis was placed on ensuring national ownership, meaningful consultation with relevant national institutions and coherence between the programme's objectives and Eritrea's development priorities. The exchange also took place against the backdrop of wider UN reform discussions, including system-wide concerns surrounding the proposed mergers of UN entities, institutional restructuring and the broader implications of the reform process for the UN development system. Issues of particular relevance include the potential implications for institutional mandates, accountability, governance arrangements, resource allocation, country-level presence and the delivery of development assistance. The importance of ensuring that reform does not undermine specialized mandates, diminish Member State oversight or compromise the ability of UN entities to respond to the distinct priorities and circumstances of programme countries was highlighted. The UNFPA representatives outlined the next steps in the programme development and approval process, confirming that the new Country Programme for #Eritrea will be presented to the @UNFPA Executive Board in 2027.

#Canada petition calls for sanctions over #Ethiopia rights abuses, ceasefire in #Amhara region Canadian MP Gord Johns has presented an Ethiopian-Canadian-backed petition to the House of Commons, urging Ottawa to impose targeted sanctions over alleged human rights violations in Ethiopia, demand an immediate ceasefire in the Amhara region, and press for the unconditional release of political prisoners and prisoners of conscience. The petitioners call on Canada to use its diplomatic leverage, declaring that “the Ethiopian government has carried out the arbitrary detentions and torture of Amhara journalists, civil society leaders, members of Parliament and opposition figures.” The petition also calls for greater transparency over Ethiopia’s June 2026 general election results and an inclusive democratic process.

This guy is missing his 'Qeroo' days. He sounds and looks like he is speaking on behalf of some Qeroo youth and organising street demonstrations. He speaks about battlefields and military strategies as if he is in the middle of the war. Last time he was in Ethiopia was when Abiy put him in prison for organising street demos. Now he is in front of computers pretending to be a Millitary general 🙄 🪖
Abiy’s Deconfliction Measures Put Isaias to the Test There has been a divergent but interesting strategic game playing out between Isaias and Abiy over the past couple of weeks. By pulling some Ethiopian forces back from positions near the Eritrean border, Abiy Ahmed has responded to international calls for de-escalation without relinquishing Ethiopia’s right to defend its territory. Separating forces reduces the risk of an unintended military clash. But deconfliction cannot work if only one side changes its military posture. Ethiopia has also demanded that Eritrea end its military presence inside Ethiopian territory, stop providing sanctuary and material support to armed groups fighting the federal government, and accept credible arrangements to monitor cross-border movements. Without these commitments, a quieter border could simply conceal the same underlying security threats. Those pressing Ethiopia to avoid another war are now asking what Isaias will do in return. So far, his response has been contrary to what advocates of de-escalation had hoped for. First, he allowed TPLF’s Army 70 to move from Sudan to the Shiraro front through Eritrean territory. Second, TPLF movements around Rama, and their proximity to Eritrean military positions, raise particular concerns about possible cross-border military assistance. Third, despite Ethiopia's demand that Eritrea stop supporting rebel groups, the Alliance for Survival's council met in Eritrea a few days ago and announced plans to strengthen cooperation against the Abiy government. This is yet another clear indication that the Eritrean regime has little intention of reciprocating Ethiopia's de-escalatory gestures and appears determined to continue provoking tensions. Abiy can use these developments to press international partners to scrutinize Eritrea's role in the escalating tensions, rather than allowing the discussion to focus exclusively on Ethiopia's troop deployments. In short, Isaias is refusing to reciprocate Ethiopia's de-escalatory measures. This allows Abiy to demonstrate that his government has responded to international calls for restraint while its legitimate security concerns remain unaddressed. The Ethiopian troop pullback strengthens Abiy's diplomatic and international case for taking defensive measures if those threats persist.

ETHIOPIA’S OVERTLY DECLARED WAR AGENDA AGAINST ERITREA (Verbatim Statements by Ethiopian Government Senior Officials regarding Eritrea’s Sovereignty) Abiy Ahmed Ali, Prime Minister of Ethiopia · "Sovereign access to the sea by any means necessary - through negotiations if possible and by force if necessary, Ethiopia would not remain a prisoner of geography." · "Regarding the Red Sea, and speaking about it repeatedly, let me say it again to make my stance clear; why does Israel hold the Golan Heights? Israel holds the Golan Heights because it believes problems regarding national security, survival and its existence… People are born, grow, age and people die, this is natural. Red Sea access and Ethiopia are just like that." · “We have found no document – in Cabinet, Parliament and other Government Archives - that asserts Eritrea's independence”. Taking their cue from the Prime Minister’s incendiary statement, Prosperity Party state media channels actively called on citizens to mobilize and ‘withdraw’ recognition of Eritrea's 1993 sovereignty, labeling it a ‘historical mistake’." · "Adulis, located on the Eritrean Gulf, can be considered one option. Massawa and Assab can also be considered other options. We do not necessarily hold the position that it must be Assab or Massawa. What we seek is simply a breathing (sovereign) outlet, access to the sea." · "As you know, five or six years ago we established a navy. Did we establish it so that it [the Navy] could swim around in this glass [container]? I am a million percent certain; Ethiopia will not remain landlocked-whether anyone likes it or not." · "For Ethiopia, losing access to the Red Sea took about 30 years [Eritrea’s legitimate struggle for liberation] - after the 30 years’ war, Ethiopia lost it. Now, however, I do not think Ethiopia needs another 30 years to retake it". · "Therefore, efforts will be made to resolve the issue and minimize losses. Whether it happens through peace or through force, it is inevitable". · "If fighting breaks out, the outcome is clear. After that, crying and wailing will be of no use. If we enter [the war], the outcome is clear. We have sufficient and dependable capability. There is no force that can stop us. This must be clear”. Field Marshal Berhanu Jula, Chief of Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) · "We will strengthen our army. We will accelerate our development. We will obtain access to the sea, whether through peace or through force; through negotiations if possible and by force if necessary - through Bale or Bole". General Abebaw Tadesse, Deputy Chief of Staff of the ENDF · "The offensive launched in Tigray will not stop there. Mekelle is a mere stop-over; our ultimate destination is Assab; our main objective is to raise our flag in the Red Sea". Ethiopian Air Force Commander General Yilma Merdasa · “The main goal is the recovery of sovereign sea access, particularly through the Eritrean port of Assab.” Maj-Gen. Teshome Gemechu: Director-General of International Relations and Military Cooperation (ENDF) · "Ethiopia is not a landlocked nation. We are not landlocked. Rather, we are an ocean-linked country. Ethiopia had it. And even though the matter hasn't been resolved yet, we are not landlocked". · "We were created together with the water. We used to have water. The water used to be ours as well as the port. Because it is a special case, we have a double right to demand it". · "The Red Sea belongs to Ethiopia. We will take it back at any cost! Assab is Ethiopia's Red Sea province". · "The port of Assab, even its design was made in such a way that it only serves Ethiopia, or starting from the Afar region, focusing only on serving through that route - take this into account as well: in international law, it can serve for a dispute". Military Commanders · Public displayed, at the Inauguration of Military Recruits few months ago, of an official Map of Ethiopia that unlawfully incorporates the port city of Assab and Eritrea's southern coastal territories. L. General Alemshet Degife, Advisor to the ENDF and Chief of Staff and Board Chairman of the Defense Engineering Industrial Corporation (DEIC) · "We have entered a process about a territory we do not control, which connects [us] to other continents, could allow those whom we have historically regarded as our enemies to establish themselves directly within 60 kilometers of us without asking our permission". Shimelis Abdisa, President of the Oromia Region · " Irrecha [traditional Oromo celebrations] will be celebrated in the Red Sea (Assab), next year." General Bacha Debele, Former Ethiopia's Ambassador to Kenya · "When we say Assab belongs to Ethiopia, it is because it belongs to Ethiopia. What you [Eritrea] took by force, we will return by force". · "Once war breaks out, there will be no such thing as the Government of Eritrea. This must be clearly understood. Geography will change. Governments will change. The borders of countries will also change. The border that exists between Eritrea and Ethiopia will cease to exist". · "If the Eritrean Government ceases to exist, what could possibly happen? It will collapse on its own and it will be gone. Isn't this war? Once a war breaks out like this, there is no distinction between the rear base and front line. In modern warfare, there aren’t separate rear base and front lines. Any place becomes a front line. Asmara cannot remain a rear base area [no-combat zone], while Badme is the front line. Both are the front lines". General Tsadkan Gebretensae, Military Advisor to the ENDF • "I have begun raising the idea that we should correct the mistakes we made previously and seize Assab from them [Eritrea]". • "At present, our relationship with Eritrea is not merely an issue of national security, nor merely about raising the question of ports or discussing the Eritrean government. I believe we must recognize, in light of history, that the manner in which we answer the Eritrean question is connected to our very existence”. Ambassador Dina Mufti, Member of the Federal Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee · “Ethiopia's quest for sovereign sea access is non-negotiable”; and he proceeded to aggressively demand international pressure against Eritrea! Daniel Kibret, Social Affairs Advisor to Ethiopia's Prime Minister · "Once Ethiopia obtains access to the sea, the reason for Eritrea being Eritrea will cease!" Adanech Abebe, Mayor of Addis Ababa City · "Are we supposed to live forever with the question of our sea closed off to us? There is no young person who will accept living with it closed; at one time it was close to us and we lost it. But this generation will not accept that”. Lencho Bati, Director General at MoFA of Ethiopia's Diaspora Service · "The Ethiopian military that suffered in the deserts of Tigray, will not stop before taking off its shoes by the Red Sea and wash its feet on Eritrean Red Sea waters”.

You never win alone. Someone is always working for you, even when nobody sees it. Eritrea is making that same effort on climate, and I am glad to be part of it with @UNDPEritrea.
A special ride with @UNDP Goodwill Ambassador @GrmayeBiniam on what cycling can teach us. One shared goal. Knowing when to lead. Respecting the nature we depend on. Facing tough climbs and headwinds together. Lessons for the road and for climate action. #COP31

Peter Kagwanja, CEO of the #Africa Policy Institute, states that #Ethiopia is in the worst situation in its entire history and has effectively entered its third civil war. Yet, the regime in Addis Ababa continues to pretend that everything is normal. I would say this is because all communities in Ethiopia are engaged in conflict, either with the government or among themselves. The situation in Moyale is an expression of what is happening across Ethiopia. Take #Tigray, for example. There was a peace agreement in Pretoria, but the war has started again, and this time, neither Fano nor #Eritrea is supporting the #Ethiopian government. The #Oromo people are also in conflict with the government. At this point, there is no major community supporting the government, and the political class is now coming together against it. The big issue, therefore, is not just Moyale, but the very concept of Ethiopia itself. I have always argued that Ethiopia's problem lies in maintaining a 2,000-year-old or older system that is, in itself, anachronistic and outdated. Ethiopians need to do what every other country in Africa and around the world is trying to do: struggle to build a system that is accountable to the people. What we can say with certainty is that Ethiopia is lagging behind in this entire process, starting with its constitution, which does not see people as citizens but as members of ethnic groups. Now, look at the conflict between the Oromo and Somali communities in Moyale. It is essentially a fight between two ethnic groups over a flag, nothing particularly significant in itself. What does this tell us? It tells us that this is a country engulfed in tension and conflict. Yet, the regime in Addis Ababa continues to pretend that everything is normal. @addisstandard @SudanTribune_EN @AJEnglish @TheVillaSomalia @BBCAfrica @US_SrAdvisorAF @EUSR_Weber @eu_eeas @StateDept @cgtnafrica @trtafrika @AfricaProg .

Profile Q & A - #Eritrea: Integrating Skills for Digitalized Future to improve Healthcare Service by Kidane Shimendi "Looking ahead, the Ministry of Health aims to expand this digital foundation by updating and digitizing the National Formulary Manual to provide detailed monographs containing information on dosage and indication, pharmacology, adverse effects, contraindications, and clinical precautions. Future updates will also incorporate interactive clinical tools directly into mobile platforms, such as automated drug interaction checkers and dose calculation features for paediatric care. Furthermore, digitizing updated national Standard Treatment Guidelines will provide healthcare professionals with real-time, disease-specific diagnostic and therapeutic algorithms at the bedside. Unifying these reference tools within accessible mobile applications will harmonize clinical practice, optimize resource utilization, and strengthen rational medicine use across all levels of healthcare". shabait.com/2026/11/04/integ…

One of the most untold humanitarian stories today is the way #Eritrea is accommodating #Sudanese people fleeing the devastating war in their country. As the world knows, #Sudan has been engulfed in a civil war for years, with direct military involvement of the #UAE and #Ethiopia. The people of Sudan are enduring unimaginable suffering, killings and mass displacement amid a conflict that has devastated their lives, communities and the country. Yet, the people and government of #Eritrea have welcomed their Sudanese brothers and sisters. Rather than simply erecting refugee camps filled with tents, Eritrea has opened hotels and homes to accommodate those fleeing the war. It has not made a public spectacle of their plight or turned their suffering into a campaign for international recognition or funding from #UNHCR and other organizations. Instead, the #Eritrean people are sharing whatever food, shelter and resources they have with their brotherly Sudanese neighbours, despite their own limited means. This is an extraordinary expression of solidarity, humanity and #African brotherhood. At a time when so many countries publicise their humanitarian contributions and seek international recognition or funding for their efforts, Eritrea's approach deserves far greater attention and lesson to the world. This is the spirit of solidarity that the people of #Eritrea are demonstrating towards their #Sudanese brothers and sisters. @US_SrAdvisorAF @_AfricanUnion @Refugees @trtworld @AJEnglish @BBCAfrica @cgtnafrica @SudanTribune_EN @CrisisGroup @antonioguterres @EUSR_Weber @eu_eeas @StateDept

#Eritrea - Beyond the Politicized Narrative; by Bana Negusse "More broadly, Eritrea’s engagement with the Social Forum reflects the country’s longstanding commitment to international cooperation and partnership. Setting aside deeply rooted misassumptions and problematic narratives, the truth is that over the years, the country has maintained relations and collaborated with a wide range of states, international organizations, UN agencies, and other institutions, guided by the principles of mutual respect, sovereign equality, mutual understanding, and shared interests. These partnerships, irrespective of differences in political systems or development approaches, underscore Eritrea’s conviction that meaningful international cooperation must be grounded in respect for national sovereignty, non-interference, and the pursuit of common objectives. This longstanding approach aligns closely with the principles underpinning the Social Forum and reflects Eritrea’s continued commitment to constructive multilateral engagement". shabait.com/2026/11/04/beyon…

The Absurdity and Paradox of Abiy Ahmed’s ‘Medemer’ World! Abiy Ahmed is a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, awarded by @NobelPrize and @NobelPeaceOslo for making peace with #Eritrea. Yet, he has turned out to be a warmonger, presiding over devastating violence and mass killings in #Ethiopia while preparing the ground-work for a war with #Eritrea. Taye Dendea @DendeaTaye was appointed Minister of Peace by Abiy in 2021. In 2023, Abiy had him arrested after he criticised his leadership and exposed the realities of his administration. He remains in prison. Abiy has also betrayed and discarded former allies, ministers and confidants, beginning with Lemma Megersa, the man widely credited with playing a crucial role in Abiy’s initial rise to power. A Nobel Peace Prize laureate who arrests his own Minister of Peace, abandons those who helped him rise to power, presides over devastating internal conflicts and risks igniting another war with #Eritrea—all while promoting a political philosophy called Medemer (synergy)—embodies one of the greatest paradoxes and absurdities of Abiy Ahmed’s political world. @BBCAfrica @trtafrika @AJEnglish @cgtnafrica @CrisisGroup @StateDept @US_SrAdvisorAF @_AfricanUnion

ETHIOPIA’S OVERTLY DECLARED WAR AGENDA AGAINST ERITREA (Verbatim Statements by Ethiopian Government Senior Officials denigrating Eritrea’s Sovereignty) The Potemkin Party is engaged, these days, in a frenzied and deceitful diplomatic campaign to re-package the unprovoked war that it has declared against Eritrea for over three years now in “self-defense garb”. As illustrated in the link below, the regime has leveraged, throughout this period without let-up, all its political, media and military institutions to indoctrinate its population, and especially the youth, with incendiary propaganda to normalize and rationalize a war of aggression against Eritrea. To this end: 1. Eritrea’s Statehood and hard-won independence were, and continue to be, denigrated as “a conspiratorial Project conceived by external forces”. These inflammatory and provocative positions constitute brazen violations of international law and the sovereignty and integrity of a UN member State. 2. The Eritrean sovereign port of Assab is often depicted as “stolen Ethiopian land” that must be retrieved to “correct a historical mistake”. This falsehood and revisionist narrative of history is peddled to justify its agenda of “sovereign access to the sea”. 3. Eritrea’s southern coastal land must also be annexed to provide “strategic depth” to Ethiopia’s phantom navy. 4. Even prior to its declaration of war against Eritrea through the announcement of its Leader to the House of Peoples Representatives on 13 October 2023, and as early as July-August 2022 while the war in the Tigray Administrative Region was still raging, the Potemkin Party had sought to create an alliance with the TPLF to wage war against Eritrea which it had dubbed as the “ultimate enemy” of both entities. 5. The Potemkin Party also ramped up, inconsequential as it may be, its hostile activities of sponsoring subversive groups (“RASDO”, “Green Islamic Movement”, and another obscure outfit classified as a foreign-based terrorist Group by Germany’s Prosecutor Office) for the purposes of “regime change”. 6. The intensive war campaign and relentless saber-rattling have been accompanied by massive weapons purchasing spree; mostly underwritten by external forces. shabait.com/2026/11/02/ethio…

During our tour of Indonesia, we also visited the Tahura Ngurah Rai Mangrove Forest in #Bali, an impressive example of environmental restoration, coastal protection and climate resilience. These water forests act as a natural defense shield against coastal erosion, storm surges, and rising sea levels. Indonesia's experience highlights the considerable economic potential of mangrove ecosystems beyond conservation. Through innovative community-based enterprises, mangrove resources and associated species are being transformed into a variety of products, including juices, syrups, jams, honey, tea, natural dyes, vinegar and even distilled spirits from nipa palm sap. From the fresh water dam used to irrigate the fields, to the solar powered nurseries, the mangrove forest showcases Indonesia’s commitment to climate resiliency. Visiting such innovative sites offer interesting possibilities for #Eritrea in developing sustainable mangrove-based value chains, food processing, fisheries, beekeeping, ecotourism and community enterprises, small and medium enterprises, particularly benefiting #women and #youth. Indonesia's experience in mangrove-based enterprise could enhance #Eritrea|s longstanding efforts in coastal restoration, help connect environmental protection with livelihoods, food security and a broader blue economy. #Eritrea has a significant history of mangrove conservation and coastal restoration, extending from the liberation struggle into the post-independence period. During the liberation struggle, #Eritrea began mangrove cultivation along its #Red Sea coast. I remember the work of the late Dr. Gordon H. Sato, a Japanese-American biologist and humanitarian whose pioneering work linked environmental restoration with food security and community self-reliance. Today, mangrove planting is part of the national students' summer work programme in the Southern Red Sea Region, including activities on Fatma Island. Mangrove ecosystems are powerhouses for carbon sequestration, storing significantly more carbon than typical tropical rainforests. Wherever I travel, I make a conscious effort to discover the common threads that connect countries and peoples, often across vast geographical and cultural distances and I am continually struck by how seemingly small similarities, shared histories, experiences, values, aspirations, or approaches to development, can create an unexpected sense of familiarity and affinity among people from distant parts of the world. I am of the opinion that diplomacy is not only about managing differences between nations. It is equally about discovering what brings us together. Sometimes, the smallest commonalities reveal the greatest opportunities for #friendship, #solidarity and #cooperation. Will build on this experience to enhance #Eritrea #Indonesia relations.
