Fav quotes from @AdamMGrant’s book:
The purpose of #learning isn’t to affirm our beliefs; it’s to evolve our beliefs.
If #knowledge is power, knowing what we don’t know is wisdom.
Scientific #thinking favors humility over pride, doubt over uncertainty, curiosity over closure. – at California, USA

Roughly 80% of how we act, think and present ourselves in the world was shaped in childhood, by our parents, siblings, the people closest to us and the significant events we lived through.
That's the thesis of my new podcast guest, Pam Manfredo Curtis, in her book, The Origin of a Leader: Transforming Family Patterns Into #Leadership Power.
Most of us carry those patterns into our #work without knowing it. Often this limits our managerial effectiveness.

The #CEO of #AmericanExpress is the newest to announce layoffs because of #AI, but before #AI justifies eliminating any jobs.
They do this because no one pushes back on AI as the reason.
Says the #CFO:
The company's #leadership is seeking to "reduce layers and increase spans of controls, so that we can automate and take advantage of AI in the coming quarters and the coming years."

A huge problem in most companies is that they've defined effective #leadership too narrowly: they evaluate and grade manager performance without adequately considering how results are achieved and what they do to people.

Are Companies About to Repeat Their Biggest Mistake With Employee #Engagement?
For years, organizations invested heavily in improving engagement, yet the numbers barely moved. Now, many are approaching employee #WellBeing as another #HR initiative.
I believe that's a fundamental mistake. The people who have the greatest influence on employee well-being are the leaders who shape the conditions in which people work.
I explore why in my new Fast Company article.

Beliefs aren't facts. They're tools.
And like any tool, they wear out.
Most of us walk around using beliefs we picked up at 12, 22, or 32 without ever asking whether they still work. We treat them as truths about who we are instead of what they actually are: instruments we chose (or inherited) to get through something.
Here are 7 signs a belief has stopped serving you:
1. It used to protect you. Now it isolates you.
2. It explains your past better than it predicts your future.
3. You defend it harder when it's challenged than when it's working.
4. It makes you feel certain, but not capable.
5. The people who gave it to you no longer live by it themselves.
6. It keeps you safe from the exact thing you say you want.
7. You can't remember the last time it changed your behavior — only how you talk about yourself.
The test for a belief isn't whether it feels true. It's whether it still does the job you hired it for.
When it doesn't, you're allowed to put it down.

When a #business transformation isn’t working, leaders often quickly conclude:
“We need a different team.”
But how do you know whether your people are truly incapable of changing—or whether you simply haven’t led them through change effectively?
I explored that question with Constantine Alexandrakis, author of The Catalyst CEO, on my new podcast.
We talked about executive teams, transformation and the difficult judgment leaders must make between developing the people they inherited and replacing them.
It’s one of the hardest decisions a CEO can make.

The "Vibe Coding" Advantage: Alexandr Wang's Powerful Advice for the Next Generation
Alexandr Wang, Chief AI Officer at Meta, sharing some profound advice for young people that resonates deeply with the current technological landscape.
He emphasizes that we are in an "incredible moment of discontinuity," akin to the early days of personal computing. His core message: "You just have to figure out how to use the tools maximally."
Wang highlights that those who dedicate significant time like "10,000 hours playing with the tools" to master new technologies will gain an immense advantage. He points out that unlike adults who are often tied down with jobs, young people have a unique window of opportunity to immerse themselves.
He draws a powerful parallel: just as the early adopters of personal computers (think Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg) gained a massive edge, today's youth have the chance to do the same with emerging tools, especially in AI. The interviewer adds to this, noting how young people are already leveraging platforms like Minecraft servers or even "sneaker flipping" to make money, not just learn.
His ultimate call to action for a 13-year-old? "You should spend all of your time vibe coding and just, you know, that's how you should live your life."
This isn't just about coding; it's about deep engagement, experimentation, and becoming truly fluent in the technologies that will shape our future. It's about finding that passion and dedicating the hours to truly understand and innovate with these new tools.
