Yep. I like the Daunt profile, it's sharp and well-crafted, but it exists mostly to soothe the status anxieties of elites. The takeaways obscure a larger paradigm shift.
The literacy crisis is real. Sorry, @NewYorker, but you got that one wrong.

I’ve never seen early returns like this from Latino voters in 36 years of running campaigns. Why? Because it’s never happened. Some of these data points are just jaw dropping. Latinos are notoriously late voters but not this year - we explain why here.
Latino turnout is off the charts - but what exactly does that mean? I’m joined by @tbonier - one of the best data guys in the business. Some of these data points are jaw dropping! youtu.be/HAos_NGa2nw?is=JUuw…

I talked to Corbin about his poll and they have a VERY hard likely voter screen. I believe this is likely an underestimate of the low propensity democrats that I believe will turn out. However if you want a projection that will not overestimate, there is no better method.
New polling on Abdul El-Sayed from A Fight Worth Having we have him up by 4.8 Poll of 2,696 likely voters in Michigan October 20-23 afightworthhaving.com/pollin…

Ick. Triple ick.
Pastor John Hagee's "Night to Honor Israel" kicked off by having the venue transition from singing the US national anthem to the Israeli national anthem. Controversial Zionist federal Judge Roy Altman can be seen at Hagee's side proudly singing both anthems.

Same.
There’s a line in YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING that I’m convinced I must have misheard because of how little discussion I’ve seen/heard around it and it’s really weighing on how I look at the whole Thing

I see the election hasn't even happened yet and they're already rolling out "now is not the time"
.@SenBrianSchatz says that if Democrats take the Senate, the party's left wing needs to be strategic about not proposing things "that the president of the United States is guaranteed to veto." "If we want to be more aspirational, if we want to make more bold policy changes... that's for 2028."

Thread. Good work, everyone.
💢 Israeli forces have driven more than 2,000 Palestinians from their homes in Hebron, Hebron Mayor Yousef al-Jabari said Saturday according to AFP, carrying out Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's vow to raze the neighborhood of the two gunmen who killed two Israeli soldiers manning an illegal military checkpoint Friday. Soldiers ordered families out over loudspeakers in the middle of the night, residents said, and many left with only what they could carry. Bulldozers had already begun demolishing homes near the Farsh al-Hawa checkpoint on Friday, and Hebron officials say about 1,300 more people could lose theirs. The city of more than 200,000 remains under siege, with residents unable to enter or leave. Palestinian officials reminded local media that "collective punishment” is prohibited under Geneva Conventions. Netanyahu, who faces elections Tuesday, has paired the demolitions with a pledge to build "over 100 new settlements." Israeli forces and settlers have also continued attacks on Palestinian civilians across the West Bank in the past 48 hours, where they have killed more than 1,100 Palestinians since October 2023, according to AFP.

I just read Brody and Dargis reviews—they’re terrified of spoilers so they basically skip the second, far more intriguing half.
