Thank you to @sufiyaahmed for visiting Hathershaw and inspiring and engaging our students with the spies and suffragettes talk. Sufiya also provided a creative writing workshop for year 7 pupils who were really proud of the work they created and enjoyed sharing it with the class.
Happy World Book Day to all our staff and students.
It's World Book Day!
We are encouraging our pupils to discover different genres and find joy in reading their way. There's lots taking place across school including a book fair, the masked reader competition, treasure hunts and an author visit!

I enjoyed my World Book Day visit to Oldham on Wednesday, chatting to students and giving them creative writing tips - and talking about books, of course!
Yesterday, we had author, Philip Womack in school, delivering engaging workshops to Year 7,8 and 9. Students had a great time participating in story writing activities and learning tips for writing a good story.

A simple lifestyle swap for good sleep is to switch off devices and read a book before bed, but choosing a book can be difficult. In light of #WorldBookDay, here are some book recommendations from our students in year 8: ow.ly/ZEB450N71w9 📚

Lots of exciting things happening for World Book Day this week: @markillis1 is coming for a visit on Thursday, try and guess who the masked readers are in the form competition and we have a book fair running all week and other activities. #WorldBookDay2023
Students: Don't forget the book fair all this week at break and lunch in the library... if you have a book token.. come and pick yourself a book for you to keep. 📚📚📚
Welcome back! Have a look at the competition running in the library this half term... Don't judge a book by its cover! Pick up a mystery book, read it and create your own book review, hand this in to Mrs James by the 12th Dec for your chance to win a prize.📚
#Sustainability is very important in the Hathershaw Library too.. so important that it even has its very own dedicated book section with many new titles continually being added.
We're taking another step towards #sustainaility and have now officially got a sustainability statement of commitment within our collection of college policies!
