டோரதி திரைப்படம் கார்த்தியின் கண்ணீரோடு தொடங்குகிறது. அந்தக் கண்ணீரை குற்றவுணர்வின் கண்ணீர் என நாம் நினைக்கிறோம். ஆனால் அது காதலின் கண்ணீர்; பிரிவுத் துயரின் கண்ணீர் என படம் முடிகையில்தான் புரிகிறது. அந்தப் புரிதல் ஒரே நேரத்தில் ஆனந்தமும் ஆசுவாசமும் அளிக்கின்றன.
கார்த்தி பிரிவாற்றாமையில் அழுகிறான். சுப்புவை நினைத்து நினைத்து அழுகிறான். குடிக்கிறான். பிரியும்படி ஆனதே என திருநங்கை விடுத்த சாபம் பற்றி எண்ணிக் கலங்கி தன் நிலை மறந்து விபத்தில் சிக்குகிறான். யாரோ ஒரு திருநங்கை மருத்துவமனையில் தன்னை ஆசீர்வதிக்கையில் சுப்புவின் நினைவில் தளும்புகிறான்.
ஆண்கள் அழக்கூடாது என படம் நெடுகிலும் போதித்துக்கொண்டே இருக்கும் ஆண்களும் அழுகிறார்கள். ’எந்தப் பொட்டச்சிக்காகவும் இனிமே எங்கண்ணு கலங்காது’ எனச் சொன்ன கார்த்தி அழுதுகொண்டே இருக்கிறான். இந்தக் கண்ணீரை எல்லாம் பார்வையாளர்கள் முதன்முதலில் பார்க்கையில் சுப்புவைக் கொன்றதற்கான குற்றவுணர்வின் கண்ணீர் என்று முதலில் புரிந்துகொண்டு, பின் இறுதிப் பகுதியில் அவை காதலின் கண்ணீர் எனப் புரிகையில் ஏற்படும் பரவசம் தமிழ் சினிமாவில் மிக அரிது.

#டோரதி படத்தை சற்றுமுன் பார்த்து முடித்தேன். என் யோசனை முழுவதும் இப்போது கார்த்திக் சுப்புராஜ் என்ற பிடிவாதக்காரனைச் சுற்றியே சுழல்கிறது.
இதன் உள்ளடக்கத்தை காட்சிக்கு காட்சி குறியீடு பொருத்தி எழுத ஆரம்பித்தால் மிஷ்கின் ஸ்பீச் மாதிரி மிகையான ரசாபாசமாகிவிடும் என்பதால் அந்தப் பக்கத்தை மட்டும் சாய்ஸில் விடுகிறேன். ஒரு கலைப்படைப்புக்கான உள்ளுணர்வு என்பது லாஜிக் கணக்கீடுகளை விட ஓராயிரம் மடங்கு பிரம்மாண்டமானது. ஓர் இயக்குநரை அவனது ஆழ்மனம் வழிநடத்தும்போதுதான் அந்தப் படத்துக்கு உரிய எல்லையைத் தாண்டி ஆகாய உயரத்துக்கு இட்டுச் செல்லும் (மனசுதான் கடவுள், மூளை வெறும் சாத்தான் என்று உச்சக்கட்ட காட்சியில் ஒரு வசனம் கூட வைத்திருக்கிறார்). கோலிவுட்டில் ஏற்ற இறக்கத்தால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டு நாயக துதிபாடல்களுக்கு பஜனை சத்தத்தை யோசித்துக்கொண்டிருந்த கார்த்திக் சுப்புராஜ் - தன் ஆன்மாவின் குரலைக் கேட்டு புரிந்துகொண்டதாலேயே இன்று காலவெளியை நோக்கிய கர்ஜனையாக இப்படி ஒரு சுய-சீர்த்திருத்த படத்தை எடுத்து அல்ல... வடித்து நம் முன் நமக்காக வைத்திருக்கிறார்.
தமிழின் மகத்தான காதல் சிறுகதைகளில் ஒன்று 'தனுமை' (ஒரு கால் ஊனமுற்ற கருத்த தோல் காதலி மீது களங்கமற்ற ஒருதலைக் காதலை குளிர்மழையாகப் பொழியும் விடலைக்காதலனும் அவனை அலைக்கழிக்கும் காமம் என்னும் வெம்மையும் வண்ணதாசனால் எழுதப்பட்ட ஆண்டு 1974). திருநங்கையர் குறித்து 1964-லேயே தமிழில் எழுதப்பட்ட ஆகச்சிறந்த சிறுகதையின் பெயர் 'கோமதி'. மேற்சொன்ன இரண்டு படைப்புகளும் தந்த உணர்வு உச்சத்துக்கு சற்றும் குறையாத வனப்பைக் கொண்டவள் டோரதி என்பதை உளமார ஒப்புக்கொள்கிறேன். கார்த்திக் சுப்புராஜின் முன்னேர்களான வண்ணதாசனையும் கி.ராஜநாராயணனையும் ஐம்பதாண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு அந்தக் கதைகளை எழுதச்சொல்லி செலுத்தியதும் 'சக மனிதர்கள் மீதான கரிசனம்' என்ற ஒற்றை விசை மாறிலியே.
தான் பெற்ற ஸ்பார்க்கை காட்டுத்தீயாக மாற்ற கா.சு அணுகிய நபர்கள் - சனத் & ரிஷிகாந்த். இவ்விரண்டு குருவிகளும் தத்தம் சத்துகளுக்கு அப்பாற்பட்ட எடையைத் தாங்கி தன் இயக்குநருக்காக உயிரையே உருக்கி கைகளில் ஏந்தி தந்திருக்கிறார்கள்.கொஞ்சமும் பயப்படாமல் தங்களை ஒரு பலிபீடத்துக்கே ஒப்புக்கொடுத்திருக்கிறார்கள். தன்-மைய-நோக்கு இல்லாத இந்தக் கதாநாயகர்கள் இருவருக்கும் இந்தக் காரணத்துக்காகவே நிறைய நல்லவை நடக்கவேண்டும்.
குழந்தைமுகமே உருவான ஓர் இயக்குநர் மனித இருத்தலியல் சார்ந்த தன் உள்ளுணர்வுக்கு செவிசாய்த்த ஓர் அற்புத தருணம்தான் செவ்வக வடிவ கண்ணாடியாக உருப்பெற்று பார்வையாளர்களான நம் எதிரே ஓங்கி நின்று நம்மை கேள்விக்குள்ளாக்குகிறது, அகங்காரத்தை துண்டு துண்டாக சிதைக்கிறது, பிறகு அதுவே நம் ஆழ்மனத்தளத்தை ஆற்றுப்படுத்தி அரவணைக்கிறது. இம்மாதிரி படமெடுத்து தன்னையே தன் செய்தி ஆக்கிக்கொண்டு செயல்படும் ஆன்ம வல்லமை என்பது அடிப்படையில் அகம் கனிந்த மனத்தில் மட்டுமே நிகழமுடியும். கார்த்திக் சுப்புராஜ் ஒரு நல்ல மனிதன். நல்ல கலைஞன். காலக்கோடுகளைத் தாண்டி தமிழ்ச்சினிமாவில் தனது பெயர் நிலைபேறு பெற்றிட தனக்குத்தானே அளித்துக்கொண்ட உச்சபட்ச சமர்ப்பணம்தான் டோரதி ❤

I'm so fed up of filmmakers staging horrendous violence (almost always towards women) as an excuse to show oppression and establish a heinous villain. It doesn't have the intended effect when you clearly Relish staging those scenes. You can feel them salivating at the ugliness

As he says, he kept using the film track from In the Mood for Love across his films, right from his debut. Nobody has done anything beyond that. No one else could interpret the essence of the reference track and transform it into their own signature.
But in Raaja sir’s hands, it became “Long Drive.” You can still hear the waltz element and the melancholy of the reference, yet it evokes an entirely different set of emotions that perfectly serve the film’s context.
