A big part of Dem discomfort (and R euphoria) of that period was dealing with an antagonistic press for a change. Luckily it didn't last!
I just want to note something… For a three week period, resistance libs lost their minds anytime someone would share a story from the NYT, WAPO, NPR, Politico, Axios about the president’s ability to campaign, concerns from Democratic party leaders, etc. Lose their minds with replies like “more anonymous sources?!” “I don’t trust the MSM!” Those same people are back to sharing stories with anonymous sources about JD Vance and Kamala Harris’s potential VP picks from the VERY SAME reporters and publications they told people should not be trusted with anything.

Iran, college students, Nazis, and former Google employees are all united in being really upset when Jews don’t just stand there and let people murder them.

I would like to debate Ben Shapiro on Israel and the *current* definition of antisemitism. Can somebody make that happen?

So, Fuentes and his followers have taken issue with this post as not being representative of his remarks. Being specific is important to me. So let's be specific about some of the things Fuentes said last night. These are direct quotes: "Jews are a very narcissistic group. Similar to black people." "We can say Christ is king. And we can say that we would like to live in a Christian country without necessarily always having to be held hostage by these Jews. Like, do you understand how long of a shadow they cast over American life?" "I don't hate Hitler, you know, I mean, I don't. I'm not in favor of genocide or whatever. But I look at Hitler as a statesman. Hitler didn't kill my people or anything like that." "Jews globally are extremely networked, they enjoy immense power and privilege." [Fascinating how much Fuentes sounds like Ibram X Kendi or some other CRT proponent here, except his grievance peddling is on behalf of white people]. "We took prayers out of school, we put the Holocaust in, you don't pray in school, we don't learn about the church in school." "We don't live in a Christian society. That is not the hegemonic religion or the hegemonic philosophy, the organizing principle of the state, it's something else. It's something like liberalism, tinged with, you know, some preference for Jews. And I think that is reflective of the fact that Jews run our society." Now, for those who want to put in the nearly four hours, certainly go listen to these remarks in context. But he offered no concrete support or citations for claiming blacks and Jews are narcissistic or that our country is "held hostage" by Jews or that they "run our society." Do Jewish people tend to be successful relative to other ethnic/religious groups? Sure. So maybe we should consider the fact that according to Pew, they have second highest marriage and second lowest divorce rates (just behind Mormons, who also tend to be pretty successful). They score third-highest in educational attainment, just behind Hindus and Universalists (both MUCH smaller groups). What Fuentes did was mix things many Christians like me agree with (like that we should be very concerned about how Soros is promoting open borders and we should want Christian leaders and policies) in with things that are manifestly anti-biblical, like obsessing on Jewish privilege. Things that are, in fact, sin. He suggested it's a Jewish conspiracy that the Left talks about the Holocaust so much relative to other genocides when the much more obvious explanation is that the Left doesn't want to highlight mass slaughter driven by socialism. I have zero problem with people who want to argue that it is not in America's interest to devote U.S. resources to Israel's war with Hamas. But that's not what this was. This was not, as he complained during the space, his "greatest hits" taken from over the course of many years or jokes taken out of context. It was all said within the space of about an hour. And it was all said in all seriousness. I believe in the First Amendment and support Fuentes' right to say these things I deeply reject BECAUSE I'm a Christian. So, for those claiming I am "concern trolling," I can assure you, my concern that there is a subset of young men on the right who find such remarks anything more than a manifestation of what seems to be deep seated envy that results in the same divisive identity politics in which the left engages is very real.
So having listened to Nick Fuentes tonight, his M.O is pretty much equating normal Christian concerns like wanting political leaders who support biblical morality to being mad ppl don’t think it’s cool to say the Jews (as a broad religious and ethnic group) killed Jesus (they didn’t). Like he just goes around pretending that disliking removing the Bible from schools and proclaiming Jews run the government are the same position? And there are a significant number of people who think Scripture would actually support such a man?? 🙄

She offered ZERO EVIDENCE. This is ridiculous. She accused someone of sexual assault with no proof, no corroboration, can't remember where or when it took place, and journalists are still carrying water for her. It's outrageous.
Christine Blasey Ford’s new memoir places her Senate testimony in the wider context of her life. And as her story goes on, it "comes to read as an indictment—not of one person, but of a form of politics that sees stories as weapons in an endless war,” @megangarber writes. theatln.tc/TrdY7scn

The clip of the CREC pastor calling for the end of the First Amendment in the name of restoring Christian hegemony is to be appreciated for its candor. I think it is wrong, but again, I appreciate its honesty. It is virtually impossible to find an example in history to validate this pastor's plea where a nation with an established church and a coercive legal regime to protect and privilege Christianity was proven successful. Why? Because Christianity is not, chiefly, a political program. It cannot be advanced through unregenerate mechanisms. State syllogisms or quote Reformers and Puritans all you want, but governments cannot self-consciously order citizens or their entire political community to eternal life. It has never been attempted without further strife, blood, disappointment, and failure as its result. And why I am to believe that a new set of establishmentarians will not repeat past errors belies reality. The church orders to eternal life because it has a singularly unique vocation not symmetrical to the government. Is this a blank check for all viewpoints to roam free? Of course, not. Lines get drawn everywhere, but political theology that calls for upending "liberal democracy" or the "post-war consensus" (a banal pejorative) is calling for something it never succeeded in accomplishing previously. This sort of political theology has its own problem: It paves over the very real and ineradicable reality of the antithesis of Genesis 3. Political theology must both accommodate to the reality of Genesis 3 (without falling into license) and also ameliorate it (without falling into tyranny). There is no perfect formula to do so, but heavy-handed censorship and concentrated authoritarianism have a history of collateral damage proving just how unworkable both are. To be sure, liberal democracy does not prevent every evil and it requires a moral system underneath it to make it work as well. No earthly system can or will ignore the ruins of Genesis 3, but liberal democracy still affords mechanisms for the rule of law and due process that are preferable to inquisitions that unsparingly and arbitrarily censor, banish, imprison, and kill in the name of religion.

When we elect children to the Senate they get real power to indulge childish dreams. Shame on all of us.
Replying to @atrupar
Vance on what he would've done on January 6: "If I had been VP I would've told the states like Pennsylvania, Georgia, and so many others that we needed to have multiple slates of electors, and I think the US Congress should've fought over it from there."

It’s so weird when journalists — of all people — think the motive of the messenger is the “real” story. How many sources have pure motives? How many journalists? Show me a successful reporter who isn’t at least somewhat motivated by ambition or anger or ideology. Doesn’t make their reporting wrong. Deep Throat wasn’t a super-patriotic liberal. He was a vengeful jerk who got passed over. Journalists are supposed to be primarily concerned with the facts. Is the allegation true? Not “will this be a win for right wingers?” If Gay hadn’t horribly screwed up her Congressional testimony and then got caught plagiarizing, she’d still be the first black female president of Harvard. What made her accusers successful was that the accusations were, you know, true. Take the L.

Detente was supposed to reduce competition with the Soviets. It didn’t achieve the objectives while also abandoning the moral case against pariah regimes. Republicans later elected someone who rejected all that, and he helped make the Soviet Union go away. Let’s stick with that.
I’m not an isolationist. I’m a Nixonian realist. The neoconservatives & liberal internationalists who can’t tell the difference between those things need to stand down and let a new generation lead our nation forward.

Most everything he says in this monologue is false. Not just the paranoid outcomes he's making up from whole cloth. Easy things like dates, troop strength, and which administration was in office when. It's incumbent on those in the business of posterity to correct the record.
i am no fan of the politics of @RFKHumanRights . but he is 100% correct on the facts here. This administration has pushed this war from day one. Putin is EVIL. Zelenski is not a good guy. Biden and his cronies are corrupt. Money - YOUR MONEY is being laundered. I will not support a war where i cannot find the good guy.
