My latest review at FanFiAddict is up! The brilliant CAINE BLACK KNIFE is the third installment in THE ACTS OF CAINE by @MWStover. It walks an incredible line between the most insane action you've ever read and the sort of quiet contemplation that begs you to slow down and think.

I'm pretty sure my hottest writing take is that many stories don't deserve to be published. Writers need to seriously (and I mean *seriously*) consider who the primary audience is for any given story. If it's you, the author, then that story shouldn't be published. 🧵

"Service of the Blind" is out in the world! The fifth Story of the T'Kan Empire is a mind-bending doozy. Inspired by Gene Wolfe and Matthew Woodring Stover, it's a psychological journey through the mind of a prisoner with no memory, confronted by an unexpected choice

I don't know who needs to hear this, but rereading is a good thing. And it's good in multiple ways, especially if you're a writer! If something is so challenging that you have to stop and reread a sentence, that means you have a chance to learn... 1/2

My latest is up at FanFiAddict, reviewing Thomas Elrod's debut about a film studio that creates a fantasy world and manipulates the lives of those who inhabit it (sound familiar to any Acts of Caine fans?) 🔗 ⬇️

Grimdark fantasy really took off in the late 2000s and early 2010s, but a decade earlier, @mwstover was busy writing a series that still overshadows most of it. My latest review at FanFiAddict!

What if someone wrote the Great American Novel, but it was like...a Star Trek novelization? Has that ever happened? A cynical corporate cash in that ended up being a beautiful and startlingly original work of art?

Your reminder that THE WORLD-MAKER PARABLE is available in audiobook. Released in 2020, it’s the first book in the Adjacent Monsters duology. A psychological dark fantasy interpretation of “The Inferno” appealing to fans of Poe, Malazan, and Dark Souls.

Can't believe THE BLOODY GOOD is releasing *tomorrow* already. Darkest thing I've ever written; honestly, my first foray into truly grimdark fantasy.
