On this day in 1931, a segregated Georgia hospital refused to admit Juliette Derricotte, dean of Fisk University, and one of her students after a serious car accident. They both died as a result. calendar.eji.org/racial-inju…

You can’t get to affordability without defeating corruption and if you pretend otherwise you will fail at both.

Democrats did not sound like this before Bernie Sanders ran for president and anyone pretending otherwise is obviously full of shit
A young man at our town hall asked if I was pushing class warfare. I told him: “We already have class warfare in this country — billionaires are waging war on the rest of us.”

To a surprising number of people, Christianity is an ideology but Islam is a group of people. Thus, quoting an uncomfortable biblical verse is clever argument, but quoting an uncomfortable hadith is racist. No other ideology gets that sort of treatment, it's bizarre.
Muslims like to act like Islam is some immutable hardwired identity like race and ethnicity, whereas It’s just an ideology. A belief system you were not born with, and that you can totally control. One You can just opt in and out of.

Talarico and Hinojosa were considered the most liberal members of the Texas state legislature. Hinojosa was the vice chair of the Texas Legislative Progressive Caucus.
Lol every race he touched underperformed or lost Meanwhile moderates are pulling double digit wins and flipping fucking texas.

I think the truth of this election is that everyone is a little bit right: -fresh progressive millennials are taking power (FINALLY!) and they won in blue states. Good! -normie moderate Democrats are the ones who largely took the red states. Good! -the Democratic Party should make room for both and run appropriate candidates in appropriate states.
It's not just Democrats winning: it's fresh, younger, more populist Dems. I really hope they become the face of the Party - now.

WRONG!
Mainstream candidates trounced, and left candidates underperformed to differing degrees. This narrative just doesn’t fit what happened.

Remeber the great FL Senate hope @AVindman ? After losing to Nixon he said "I will be standing by her side in the fight against Ashley Moody." He had $7 million in is campaign then, how much did he transfer to Nixon? $0.00 Nadda. Nothing. Stand up dude.

Jon Ossoff had $135.4 million behind him. Angie Nixon had $16.65 million. That’s about eight times as much, so keep it in mind when comparing their results.

I’m proud of the race we ran. We helped drive turnout and broke the super majority in the state house and senate. 2028 is around the corner. LFG!

Thank you, Florida. We didn’t get the result we fought for tonight. I’m not going to pretend that it doesn’t hurt. But I want y’all to hear me. What we built together is REAL. Every door you knocked, every call you made, every dollar you gave and every friend you brought to the polls proved that working people in this state are ready for something better. That movement isn’t going anywhere, and neither am I. The fight continues. Love, Angie 💗 #AngieForFlorida

As a Muslim, I sometimes wonder if we realise how the rest of the world sees us. We are roughly 26% of humanity, yet many people see us as a problem the remaining 74% must deal with. ISIS, Boko Haram, Al-Qaeda, Al-Shabaab, ISWAP, JNIM. Terror groups keep emerging in the name of Islam. Add to that the demands for Shariah in other people's countries, the condemnation of other people's cultures and the intolerance towards different beliefs. Then we wonder why people are becoming uncomfortable with Islam. We cannot keep blaming Islamophobia while refusing to confront the problems within our own communities. At what point do we admit that some of the world's criticism of us deserves an honest response?

Obama was the first Black man elected president and rode in on a landslide and he was infinitely more humble and politically savvy than AES. You don’t need to make excuses for the guy, he’s just an asshole that refuses to bottle it up until the election.
The centrists are probably right that Abdul has an ego problem But if you were a hot doctor with Columbia and Oxford degrees who was about to be elected the first Senator of your faith, you'd probably be pretty cocky too

The murder of a child is a pain no parent should have to endure, let alone from thousands of miles away. Javits Frimpong’s mother deserves to say goodbye to her son in person. I just got off the phone with President Trump and he has agreed to grant her visa immediately.  All of New York City is mourning this tragedy.
