That’s definitely not what is happening. The only thing jeopardizing rights are purity tests that will put republicans in charge.
If this was any other oppressed minority it would quickly get shut down as the bigoted bullshit it is, but because these ratfuck cowards have no principles they're willing to sell your rights piecemeal until you're no longer allowed to be in public.

They’re not mad because they’ve turned towards right wing voters on trans issues, they’re mad because they haven’t and criticism is unwarranted
if you as a centre-left party decide that appealing to right-wing voters is more important than protecting the rights of minorities you cannot turn around and throw a fit when those minorities stop voting for you

People probably should have listened to @hecubian_devil more
they made the calculation: transphobes' votes are more important than ours. they don't get to be mad when they get what they asked for!

Are European airlines crashing a lot?
Matt Yglesias wants you to die in a plane crash, apparently. nytimes.com/2026/10/16/opini…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Yglesias argues US 1500-hr pilot rule (vs Europe ~200) is job protection raising fares, not safety. Europe has comparable safety per IATA. He says he wants no crashes, just to end a pretextual rule. Colgan pilots exceeded 1500 hrs. iata.org/en/pressroom/2… x.com/mattyglesias/s…

I get the reluctance to bring in too much former WWE talent, and that really is a niche TNA fills, but this could have really helped AEW women’s tags.
The team of Zoey Serrano and Shayna Baszler are officially called APEX. #TNAiMPACT

For all the nihilist saying all you need is ‘a good guy with a gun’ this does not seem like an optimum outcome
NY Post: Oregon school shooter "tried to enter through the school’s front door but was blocked by two bystanders, including a dad of two little girls at the school...The man opened fire on Griffin with a concealed weapon he was carrying, thwarting the teen’s attempt to go in the front, sources said. Refusing to give up, Griffin ran around to the school’s back door and blew off its lock — which was designed to prevent such tragedies, sources said. He entered the school and headed straight for his former special-needs classroom and opened fire, killing three students, ages 5, 8 and 11, and a teacher, while also injuring a 7-year-old in a wheelchair and a 54-year-old teacher before being gunned down by the gun-toting dad who had spotted him out front." nypost.com/2026/10/16/us-new…

It’s fun watching these losers realize “co-governance” is not a thing and DSA elected officials are accountable to the whole electorate like all other officials
“Jessica Tisch is the Police Commissioner. I have no plans to change that.” This is the response of the mayor after countless movement organizations across various issue priorities including his own organization, DSA, call for her firing. Dying on the dumbest hill imaginable.

Trying to get some sort of Mystara Twitter going over here.

There’s a lot of truth to this, moreso on Twitter than outside of it.
I am not anti film critic. I love film criticism. It is essential to have smart brains giving real analysis on the most dominant art form of our lifetime. However, the field is muddled with groupthink and ideological dogma, not to mention a mass infestation of Dunning-Krugerism. Politically the line starts left of center, and only grows more acceptable as the graph goes left. It's bad for movies but, more importantly, it's disconnected from half of the country, if not the world. I doubt all of these credentialed critics are as party line as their collective would make them out to be. They are under the same pressures of being cancelled as any other job, if not more due to the need for readership. But there's no excuse. You chose to to be a public voice, and if you calibrate one word of it to placate employers, audiences, and your paycheck out of repercussions, you are the sellout you accuse many filmmakers of being. Film criticism is very important work. It frames the mass hallucination of our time - moving images - and the basic rule is to keep it honest. The most honest person in the room is often the least popular. They exist, they are few, and yes, they are unpopular. Anyway if your thinking is groupthink, either you don't have the skill to realize it, surpass it, or you're faking it.

The fact that so many people in film twitter think the best relationship with finders and makers of film is a kind of renaissance patronage rather than a business does not speak well of the health of the business.

Unfortunately Gibney’s Musk documentary is a mile wide and an inch deep.

This is partly true but I think they also resent when a movie seems to be looking down on them, which iniarittu films tend to do. As much as it reminds me of Megalopolis it reminds of Joker Foliex au Du that way.
Digger’s poor box office numbers prove the film's premise: critics and audiences desperately want to believe art can save the world, and they get furious when you suggest it can’t.

Reaction to the movie will remain divided but this should be a big part of Tom’s reel forever. This should get a rightful place alongside his definitive performances.

Probably he means metric ton because a lot of freight, even liquid freight, is measured and priced in weight and not volume that way. The conversion to barrel is around 7.4 and then 42 gallons per barrel.
To give some necessary context, and assuming the President means US Tons of already refined diesel: One US Short Ton is 2,000 pounds. 300,000 US Short Tons is 600,000,000 pounds. One gallon of diesel fuel is around 7 pounds. Meaning 300,000 US Short Tons is a little over 85M gallons of diesel. These are approximate numbers since diesel usage is measured in volume, not mass, since density can change based on things like temperature. For reference, the United States uses about 160M gallons of diesel fuel per day. Globally, that number exceeds 1B gallons of diesel per day. Even if Russia supplied all 4,800,000 Tons of diesel as claimed, that would be just 1.37B gallons of diesel reaching market. Or, roughly, one day of global use when you factor how much diesel is burned just to deliver that diesel. Not that Russia can even supply that much diesel with close to 50% of its refining capacity destroyed or disabled.
