I have not seen the video. Those who love me most have urged me not to. One of the truths playing Kunta Kinte taught me is that the dehumanization of Black people was necessary to the success of our enslavement.

To all of the verified Twitter Blue vigilantes who feel duty bound to educate me about:
a) Africans enslaving other Africans.
b) Black on Black crime in America, or
c) How my privilege makes me somehow less Black.
Please f*ck all the way off!

Since many people are seeing this…I’ll add this for my medical friends:
Early in COVID Children’s hospitals made huge changes to care for adults in order to assist with the incredible surge. We need the same creativity, flexibility and bravery from our adult hospitals now.

After a solid week of Australian schooling for my kids, I can say that my second favourite thing about schools here is school uniforms. It's amazing to not have to worry about outfits.
Of course, that's a distant second to the fact that they won't die in a shooting.

Abortion is not just health care, it is a human right. Beyond infringing on bodily autonomy, there are conditions in pregnancy that result in death without safe abortion care. This is a calling for all in medicine to stand on the side of justice nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NE…

The people most upset about Beto’s manners were totally fine when it was parents screaming at school board members last summer

If only there was an evidenced based expert in gun violence in our state who could offer perspective and practical solutions. @RealCedricDark

Pediatricians are being told (warned) to stay in our own lane and not weigh in on the toll of gun violence on children. If preventable death isn’t “our lane,” I’d like to know what is. Child advocacy is as integral as otitis treatment to the practice of pediatrics.

I am mentally ill and yet I have never had the desire to target an entire group of people and massacre them.
Racism is not a mental illness. It is a choice of hatred and violence.
Do not further demonize and stigmatize mental health in order to avoid the dealing with racists.

Here's how much profit Big Oil raked in last quarter:
Shell: $9.1 billion
Chevron: $6.3 billion
BP: $6.2 billion
Exxon: $5.4 billion
They’re not raising prices to cover their costs—they’re raising prices to pad their profits.

Hospitals literally have more turnovers than an NFL game.

Right now, hospitals are incentivized to short staff because they pocket the $$$ saved by the missing staff member. Remove that incentive and give that $$$ to the people doing the extra lifting.
