In all seriousness, Greg Abbott’s and Ken Paxton’s (and all the Republicans’) refusal to debate their opponents is such an on the nose representation of how little respect they have for the people that they are running to serve.
They are flat out declaring that they are too high on their horses to be bothered with answering questions from us little folk. It’s how they campaign, and it is also how they govern.
We deserve leaders who show up. We deserve leaders who will listen. We deserve better.
Vote wisely this November.

You know something I think about often? Of all the things that Ai isn’t ready for yet, one thing that it absolutely is capable of is using 250 years of historical data including growth indicators, periods of growth and recession, overlapped with previous iterations of US tax laws to completely rewrite our Federal tax code in a way that would both support capital investment at the top while also creating upward mobility for the lower and middle class.
And the fact that no one has even suggested this really gives you a window into how corrupted our politicians have become by back scratching donor quid pro quos.
And that sucks.

In July 2023, researchers on a whale watching expedition in the Caribbean Sea encountered an unusual scene: 11 sperm whales clustered tightly at the water’s surface.
The animals began to inch closer and closer together in the waters off the island of Dominica, with their attention turned to one individual, until a burst of blood tinted the water.
At first, the scientists—part of @ProjectCETI, a nonprofit that studies how sperm whales interact—thought the animal had been attacked. But then they saw a tiny tail pop out of the water.
The researchers quickly realized they had in fact observed a group of whales helping a calf take its first breath. Even more fortuitous, they had captured it on video from a drone.

I just want public education in Texas to thrive, for people to not choose between dying or bankruptcy when they are seeking healthcare, for seniors and veterans to be respected as adults when it comes to hemp legalization, for women in Texas to not face death during manageable pregnancy complications, for property taxes to not force people from their homes or prevent them from ever buying one, and for billion dollar data companies to not be given free reign to rape and pillage the communities they are trying to plant their monstrosities in.
I’m a simple Texas citizen turned candidate.
Everything else is a distraction. A well designed one.

We added the numbers together and found for the white house grounds for the vanity projects, the beautification and the needed upgrades: They've set aside $323 million for this year…
$323 million compared to $7 million for the white house in 2024. That's a 5,000% increase.
National mall has a ten fold increase from 2024 for projects that are the president's priority.
Doesn't mean the money is directly being starved out of Yosemite, Yellowstone, Mount Zion, Grand Canyon. But we checked those parks all have significantly less funding allotted for them this year than they did two years ago, and there's a $30 billion backlog of deferred maintenance
They are going to have to shortchange important projects throughout America to marshal donated money or taxpayer money on things like a reflecting pool, a helipad, a ballroom, and other vanity projects.

I’m so scared by this interview - not just because of what Prof Anderson says - but because it’s a reminder these leading experts don’t get airtime in the mainstream.
The discussion about climate change in our broken media is members of the public talking crap on phone ins, dim commentators discussing it over a cuppa on magazine style shows, or people debating how expensive Net Zero is on Newsnight.
We never get to hear the most important information from the most important experts. It’s disastrous how uniformed the public are.

The legislation I see getting passed in the Texas House—the only legislation we get to vote on that comes before us—is pushed by moneyed interests. That is corrupt.

Texas has become a pay-to-play state, and as a result, we have skyrocketing property taxes, yet we have over 150 whole school districts operating on a four-day week because they can’t afford to operate five days a week. Whole school districts.
We have over 150 schools shutting down. We have the highest uninsured rate in Texas—the most uninsured children in the country. We have the most people being disconnected from their electricity because they can’t afford to pay their bills. I mean, the list goes on and on.
That is Greg Abbott’s record. That’s why the polling shows people want change. They know Greg Abbott. They know he’s been there 12 years, and they will not elect him to another four. That’s the opportunity we have in this election.
