When I started Rapping at 13 yrs old, it was all because of Eminem. I couldn’t get enough of him and he was my biggest inspiration. Then the Nigerian Hiphop scene began to bloom and rappers like Eedris Abdulkareem, Ruggedman, Terry Tha Rapman, Pheroshuwz, Freestyle, Eldee Tha Don, and the First Lady Sasha P made Rap even more accessible for a young Nigerian girl like me. It was no longer just: “There’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti..”🎵 It was now — “Baraje “Ewa ba mi jo.. “Me I go yarn, me I go speak my mind..” Rap was no longer a faraway distant dream.. it was homegrown and Nigerian rappers were sharing stories I could relate with. A win! My life-long dream of becoming a Female Rapper in Nigeria was beginning to look possible. Then DaGrin and Sossick created a Masterpiece that would forever rock my world. And when M.I, Iceprince and Jesse Jagz unlocked ChocBoyz — it was over!! I remember playing M.I’s TALK ABOUT IT back to back to back till the CD knocked. I bought that CD again and again and always had a back up copy. These guys made Rap enjoyable even for non rap-heads. I quickly went from a playlist with Eminem, The Wutang Clan, Rakim, Tupac and Nas — to completely filling my playlists with mostly Nigerian Rappers. Rap had more rhythm, more bounce, more Afrika! As a young, studious Rapper studying the greats, this was important for me. And then… Jesse Jagz!! @jessejagz Jesse Jagz opened the doors to the hallways of my Ancestors past.. his music and powerful spirit-fueled storytelling held my ears captive and sent tingling shivers down my Spine. I thought he was a god! I loved, honored and adored his intellect… and for everything in me, I wanted music with Jesse Jagz. I have waited 13+ years to be on the same record with these great men… and Ruggedman has made it happen in my lifetime. I feel soooooo very blessed and I need you guys to ruuuuuunnnnnn!! Please go to @RuggedyBaba ‘s profile and thank him for me in his comments! 😭😭😭 Are you ready for the Rap Record of 2024 out of Naija?? “OG” - @RuggedyBaba Ft. Uzikwendu, Terry Tha Rapman, Jesse Jagz, Eva Alordiah, Mr Styles on one song? MADNESS! 😳😭🔥 🔥🔥🔥 RT for Naija Hiphop! Click the link in the tweet below this to stream now!👇👇Go!
