I think this is still cheap enough to scale to wherever there’s relevant TOD that would make you want to build second entrances

*Are* they making FSD sound dangerous? The relevant fact, that he was crossing I80 as a pedestrian, is in the tweet?
The entire comments section is flaming this story, and I also object to placing the word "Tesla" before mentioning it was a pedestrian crossing an interstate.
Nonetheless, this seems like a reasonable presentation of the involved facts? They're didn't leave anything out.
A 71-year-old man was killed early Thursday morning after he was struck by a Tesla in full self-driving mode as he was crossing I-80 in Vallejo, the CHP said. A 26-year-old San Francisco man was inside the Tesla and stayed at the scene. More here: abc7news.com/19969111/
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
According to CHP dashcam footage, the pedestrian entered I-80 from the right shoulder and stepped directly into the path of the Tesla traveling around 70 mph; the vehicle applied brakes and steered left attempting to avoid him.

It is clearly ok to "mostly stop for a stop sign" even if not strictly legal

Most of the time the law states that it's basically on the AV company to figure out who to contact without the cops (typically pretty trivial); some states substitute the whole duty with a police report and then it's on the police themselves to reach out I assume
Replying to @CanaanQuest
In states where duties like this are not waived or substituted, a representative of the company basically has to go out there and write the note

overpass accounting in football fields
Replying to @expectiles
Well, strictly speaking, accounting for this particular overpass in lane miles results in an infinite cost per lane-mile of overpass
Replying to @causeiexist
On the contrary, Texas highway interchanges probably contain a zillion miles of roadway and thus excellent per-mile rates but again, you can see the issue
Replying to @SaladBarFan
A lot of the cost of overpasses specifically is pretty invariant to the length of the structure, mostly all related to the cost of building the bridge at all
