Congrats @AmarKumarEdu 👏 It has been such a pleasure to be a Kaipod affiliate. The support and guidance provided has made launching my microschool so much easier.
A new generation of schools is emerging across America. And at @KaiPodCo, we've spent the last six years building the infrastructure to power it.
Today, I'm excited to announce additional investment from our existing investors—Reach Capital, EO Ventures, and Ulu Ventures—to accelerate our growth and expand our impact.
We've built something unique in education: an integrated platform that helps educators launch, operate, and grow great schools. Here's what that looks like today:
🚀 125+ schools across 21 states, serving children from all backgrounds in urban, suburban, and rural communities.
🏫 KaiPod Catalyst is the country's largest school launch program, helping hundreds of educators turn their dreams of starting a school into reality.
💻 KaiPod Newton supports more than 100 schools, bringing modern, purpose-built technology to a sector that's long relied on spreadsheets and software designed for daycares or large institutions.
🤝 We're expanding our work with states and school districts, bringing new schools to more communities.
I've never been more optimistic about the future of education than I am today.
The pieces for meaningful change have finally fallen into place. Families are demanding more choices. Educators are creating new schools. Policymakers are making those options more accessible. And as more great schools emerge, competition is raising the bar for everyone.
Regardless of where we stand on education policy or politics, I believe we share a common goal: more great schools where every child can thrive. We've spent years building the infrastructure for this moment. Now, we're ready to scale it.
And, if you’re an educator, partner, or someone who wants to help build the future of education, I'd love to connect!
I've shared a short video about our journey and where we're headed next.

I've seen enough Power of Attorney disasters over the years to tell you this:
Having a Power of Attorney doesn't necessarily mean you have a good Power of Attorney. Unfortunately, people often don't discover the difference until it's too late.
Three things I wish more people understood about POAs:
1. Not all POAs are created equal.
Just because a document says someone can handle your financial affairs doesn't mean they can actually do everything you might need them to do.
Sell your house? Deal with retirement accounts? Make gifts? Handle certain transactions? Maybe. Maybe not.
The words on those pages matter a lot.
2. Choosing your agent isn't a popularity contest.
Your oldest child doesn't automatically win. Neither does the child who lives down the street. Or the sibling you're closest to.
You're potentially handing someone tremendous authority over your financial life. Pick the person who can actually handle the job.
(And sometimes, that's not the person everyone expects!)
3. Signing something and understanding it are two different things.
People will sign a POA because they trust the person they're naming.
Great! Trust is important. But do you understand what powers you're actually giving them?
Depending on how it's written, that person might be able to make gifts, change beneficiary designations, create trusts, or make other significant financial decisions.
That's a pretty big deal, don't you think?
Here's what I want you to remember:
A Power of Attorney isn't just another document to check off your estate planning to-do list. Rather. It’s a document that could determine who controls your financial life when you can't.
So, get it right.
In my line of work, I've seen what happens when people don't. Trust me, those aren't fun messes to clean up.

Sleep is not a luxury. Do not ignore it.
In a UK study of nearly 8,000 adults, people who consistently slept 6 hours or less in their 50s and 60s were about 30% more likely to develop dementia than those sleeping 7.
Association, not proof. Still, protect your sleep.
Give students tools and they will figure it out.
We added instruments in the hallway and now we have impromptu lunchtime concerts and students teaching themselves how to play.

PUBLIC BLESSINGS DUE TO PRIVATE FAITH & SACRIFICES nitter.gq/i/broadcasts/1qJDzWkEg…
We are leaning to farm. Had our first hydroponic station installed. In addition to learning tangible skills, eg data collection and monitoring PH,EC & water flow, they are learning patience. #STEM #microschools #PKLA
I definitely think we don’t focus enough on the socio-emotional aspects of child development. Which is very difficult to do if the majority of a child’s day is spent on academics and homework. Balance is key. #microschools
We often focus on what children should know when they leave school, but how they enter school matters too. A child who can listen, share, manage frustration and get along with others has a much stronger starting point for learning.
Academic readiness gets plenty of attention, but learning to care about others, listen and take turns is just as important in those early years. And, of course, these skills need practice, patience and good examples from the adults around them.

The Most Important Exercise Advice May Be the Simplest
We have quite the bubble here... many are running sub-3 marathons... some much more than that... but the reality for most people is that they average 4-5k steps/day.
I love when the science catches up to what we’ve observed in the office for decades. It’s always been clear that those who are able to move the most… thrive. Far better than those who are sedentary. And oftentimes… any movement works.
The American College of Cardiology just published a new scientific statement on exercise prescription. The central message is simple: the biggest cardiovascular benefit often comes from going from doing nothing to doing something.
The relationship between physical activity and cardiovascular risk is not linear. The largest absolute risk reduction occurs when a sedentary person becomes modestly active. More activity can add benefit, but the gains become smaller as volume rises.
The statement still recommends at least 150 minutes per week of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous activity, along with resistance training for most adults. But it also emphasizes that some movement is better than none, and that exercise should be safe, individualized, achievable, and sustainable.
It also reinforces another important point: meeting an exercise target doesn't fully offset spending most of the rest of the day sitting. You can train in the morning and still be highly sedentary afterward.
Meaningful benefit appears at lower levels than the ever-present 10,000 steps per day we see online. Observational data link around 7,000 steps per day to substantial reductions in cardiovascular and all-cause mortality.
The bottom line: move more, sit less, lift something regularly, and choose a level you can keep doing… even on your worst day.

Changed the #JAHeritageWeek project this year. Instead of identifying the heroes around us my students and I talked about what heroic endeavor would they want to undertake.
Our young people can be so creative and insightful when given the space to be.

Bring your questions, concerns and recommendations to the virtual town hall on the National Cays Management Policy.

📺 Watch live on JISTV on YouTube and Facebook @MWECCJA.
The National Cays Management Policy for Jamaica proposes four categories to guide the management of the country’s cays, rocks, islands and associated ecosystems.
What could these proposed classifications mean for the people who fish, work, visit and depend on these areas?
Have your say. Help us protect Jamaica’s cays.
