$18 billion in DePIN. 300+ projects. But here's the thing nobody talks about: None of them are actually built for community benefit. 🧵👇

Another week wraps up, and as always, here’s your Cartesi Weekly with the latest ecosystem updates 🐧 Devs and aspiring devs can get hands-on experience building with Cartesi on our interactive Playground dApp, which made headlines during the holidays campaign. Inspired by CryptoZombies, it was built by our Dev Advocacy contributors and features three levels to guide you through your first steps with Cartesi’s framework. Try it here: → xitter.cf/cartesiproject/status/… The first podcast we joined in 2026 is live! Huge thanks to @CryptoCoinShow for hosting our cofounder @felipeargento to share the latest Cartesi updates. Give it a listen and let us know what you think of this fresh way of explaining our tech: → youtube.com/watch?v=do4hmhFP… Builders of @LocaleNet have open-sourced their work, L{CORE}, a self-hosted attestation stack that solves the "IoT trust problem" by cryptographically verifying sensor data (temperature, energy generation, traffic counts) before it gets onchain. They use Cartesi as their fraud-provable computation layer, running a full Linux runtime with SQLite inside Cartesi's RISC-V virtual machine to perform deterministic verification of device signatures and complex queries, ensuring all IoT attestations are cryptographically provable and disputable. Check it out and show them some support: → xitter.cf/LocaleNet/status/20140… Community clippers have been busy this week! After the InfoFi sunset, clipping videos has become the new trend. Watch this @CTSInumberONE edit of cofounder @erickdemoura explaining Cartesi’s mission back in the day: → xitter.cf/CTSInumberONE/status/2… Speaking of mission, check out this recent Linux meme, courtesy of contributor @cryptocyn, illustrating the natural progression from the most versatile OS in the software world to its Cartesi-powered version brought onchain: → xitter.cf/CryptoCyn/status/20125… And lastly, stay tuned for our newsletter next week. You could snag a branded hoodie during our end-of-month recap. Subscribe here: → mailchi.mp/cartesi/email-new… Now let’s wrap it up, and until next time, keep building and supporting your web3 peers!
mac vs windows vs Linux.. vs 25+ years of open-source software onchain, fully trustless.

A big upgrade just landed for Web3 and real-world data. Locale Network and @MSocietyLabs have open-sourced L{CORE}. This is the first decentralized system that allows IoT devices to prove their data on-chain. This means sensor data can now be trusted without relying on centralized platforms. The system is built in partnership with @ReclaimProtocol and @CartesiProject, and it brings trustless device data verification directly to Arbitrum. L{CORE is the main infrastructure behind Locale Network’s City Chains. These are community-built Layer 3 networks designed for DePIN, ReFi, and real-world assets. They focus on real use cases and community ownership. The goal is simple. Devices are verified at the source. Data is recorded on-chain. Control belongs to the community, not a central company. Today, most IoT systems work the same way. A device reads data, sends it to a cloud server, and an app later shows the result. In this setup, users are not really trusting the device. They are trusting the platform that stores and controls the data. 🔹That is the problem L{CORE solves. Once data leaves a device, it is very hard to prove where it came from or if it was changed. Anyone can send numbers to an API. Very few systems can prove that a real device produced the data at a specific time without a central authority. 🔸L{CORE brings that missing proof. Instead of creating a new blockchain just for IoT, this system works directly on Arbitrum. No new chain. No bridges. Builders can simply connect their devices and start building. Each device gets a unique identity. Devices sign their data using the same cryptography used by Ethereum. The data is encrypted and submitted on Arbitrum. Cartesi then verifies the data in a secure and deterministic environment. 🔹Anyone can replay and verify the data. No trust is required. This is not a mobile app or an API wrapper. It uses real embedded software that runs directly on hardware like Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and other IoT devices. The project is funded and supported by the @Arbitrum DAO. It can be self-hosted or run in the cloud. There are no protocol fees, only gas fees. This unlocks real-world use cases that need trusted data. Real-world asset lending with live collateral data. Verified carbon tracking. Energy meters with on-chain proof. Smart city systems that people can actually trust. This is how real-world infrastructure moves on-chain.
🚨 Big milestone: Locale Network + @MSocietyLabs just open-sourced L{CORE} 🔓 The first decentralized IoT attestation infrastructure. In partnership with @ReclaimProtocol & @CartesiProject, we’re bringing trustless sensor data verification to @Arbitrum. 🧵👇 paragraph.com/@localenetwork…

Real builds. Real data verified and settled securely onchain. By enabling fraud-provable settlement of IoT attestations, the vision of processing complex data in a verifiable and scalable way comes to life, opening the door to DePIN, RWA tokenization, and smart city infra apps.

7. Real hardware. Real crypto. 📍 Devices sign readings with secp256k1 (same as Ethereum). 📍 Encrypted + submitted on @Arbitrum. 📍 @CartesiProject verifies in a deterministic RISC-V VM. Anyone can replay & verify — zero trust needed ⚡

L{CORE} is the infra layer powering Locale Network's City Chains 🏙️ Grassroots L3 networks purpose-built for DePIN, ReFi, and RWAs. Every device. Verified at the source. Settled on-chain. Owned by the community. docs.locale.cash/city-chain/… Here’s what we built, and why it changes everything 👇

the Crypto Cities thesis connects onchain liquidity with real businesses generating revenues. that cash flow returns onchain as yield and composes with the rest of DeFi/protocols. across every builder conversation, one bottleneck keeps surfacing: liquidity. BLAZE solves this.
