Exactly the kind of action the phrase “stay woke,” in its original usage, was intended to warn of.
After a resounding rebuke by voters of Trump's immigration policy, the president has just named the person who orchestrated that policy as his new chief of staff.

.@AbdulElSayed makes the fundamental point that criticism of Israel's misconduct is not necessarily a swipe at Jews any more than criticism of Egypt's misconduct is is a swipe at Arabs. If you don't care for human rights for all, you don't actually care about human rights at all.
I've been in politics for a quarter century. It's hard to express how staggering it is to see a conversation like this on corporate US media. The Morning Joe panel gobsmacked by the directness of @AbdulElSayed's points. (clip via @DropSiteNews)

This was an election about the economy, but also about freedom
The note I received tonight from Martese Chism, a Mississippi voter I met this year whose great-grandmother Birdia Keglar - a prolific organizer - was killed under suspicious circumstances in 1966:

Good morning from Mississippi! Our lead continues to grow, and we're now up by roughly 1,100 votes! We're confident Scott's lead will continue to grow as the remaining votes are counted. We're staying focused and protecting the integrity of our election.

hadn't really hit me that some of the voters who just sent a Black man to the Senate from Mississippi remember having to pay poll taxes. American history is so short. Historic. So so so so so happy for them.

Democratic Rep. Shomari Figures just won a huge upset victory in Alabama's 2nd congressional district. This was a district that the Alabama GOP specifically gerrymandered to oust Figures after the Supreme Court dismantled the Voting Rights Act. But Black voters turned out in huge numbers to counteract that decision.

In a gerrymandered district, our campaign was within a single point of winning. Thank you to everyone who worked to make that a reality. I am immensely grateful. I will continue to fight for the people of TN and together our movement is just getting started.

The MS Secretary of State used expired Experian data to "clean up" the voter rolls, inactivating many eligible Mississippi voters who then voted by affidavit ballot. Just anecdotally, I heard stories about it being a mess, especially in DeSoto County mississippitoday.org/2026/11…

It's so interesting to see these conversations about Mississippi. Most times y'all speaking down on us. Now I see so many posts about "invest in Mississippi" when folks on the ground have been screaming from the rooftops about investment for years.

With 86% of the vote in in Mississippi, incumbent Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith leads Democrat Scott Colom by just 1-point, 49.4%-48.4%. Independent Ty Pinkins (former Dem Senate nominee) has 2.2%. Mississippi is going down to the wire. Results: mississippifreepress.org/liv…

Mara Gay (who went to college with El-Sayed) on Morning Joe: One thing you learn when you're not a white American is that it sometimes doesn't matter what you want to talk about. The more the Republicans try to make it about Islamophobia, the angrier voters appear to be getting because they want to talk about health care. They want to talk about why they can't afford their lives. He decided to run because he cares about Michiganders. I know that. He can be very stubborn. He also cares about people.
