The provincial take-over of blue box recycling (remember: blue box recycling started as a result of community pressure at the municipal level - the easiest level of government to access & win change) is leading to top-down decisions that dont reflect community priorities. #onpoli
Alarming scoop from Patty Winsa: @fordnation govt's recycling reforms are off the rails, triggering a proposal to cancel curbside collection of flexible plastics and overflow recycling bags, as well as delivery of extra requested recycling boxes thestar.com/business/ford-go…

Honoured to help redicate the Calgary Cenotaph to recognize the 40,000 Canadians who served in Afghanistan, including 158 who never came home. A new plaque honours their sacrifice. Thank-you to John Tyrell and the Calgary Salutes committee for their tireless work to preserve our military heritage.

The Canadian Network on Cuba (CNC) has called on the gov’t to authorize at least one direct weekly flight to Cuba for humanitarian purposes and permit Cuban Canadians to visit their families. Tell PM Carney you agree. @MarkJCarney #CUBA en.cibercuba.com/noticias/20…

It was actually our 250th anniversary. Not that you would know — you spent it with the British.
Paxton: On July 4th, we celebrated the 200th anniversary of our country.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
July 4 2026 marked the 250th anniversary of US independence not the 200th as claimed in the video. Multiple reports placed Paxton in London England that weekend with videos of the trip. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_St… thedailybeast.com/must-win-maga-… ibtimes.co.uk/ken-paxton-lon… washingtonexaminer.com/news/campaigns…

It’s a good day to be Anishinaabe. It’s a good day to be a Canadian. 🪶 🍁 Miigwech to Prime Minister Carney, National Chief Cindy Woodhouse, Chiefs, Leaders, and all the First Ministers, who listened to the shared wisdom and vision for Canada. As our National Chief said, this can’t be a one and done. We must continue building relationships, working together and making Canada stronger for everyone. #abolishtheindianact

Isaac Saney of the Canadian Network on Cuba and a professor at Dalhousie University of Black and African diaspora studies and history: “Many economists, many specialists in Cuba, point to the principal cause of the Cuban economic distress as being this unprecedented economic war waged against Cuba that has now become a genocidal siege. It's become an obsession of Donald Trump, but particularly Marco Rubio, to starve an entire people into submission by deeming, by denying them basic access to trade, to fuel and the basic necessities. One question I'd like to point out: What country could withstand this would stand what Cuba has done for the last nearly nine, ten months of this vicious, vicious economic warfare raids against it? What would happen to Canada if somebody were to cut off its access to international trade and so forth? It would lead to chaos. And so I think it's important to bear in mind that what Cuba is undertaking, as Julio has pointed out, with its 176 measures, has been long debated and discussed about improving the efficiencies of the economy. But as the United Nations report and many scholars have pointed out in the studies, the principal cause of Cuba's economic distress is this is this criminal, illegal and immoral economic war waged by Washington.”

A man in Ottawa with a dozen blood clots in his lungs was put in a hospital storage closet because there was no bed. How can we accept that? Doug Ford promised to end hallway health care, but it’s only gotten worse. It’s time to end the wait times by bringing in safe staffing ratios and fixing the bed shortage, so every Ontarian gets a real bed when they need one.

Avi is absolutely right. Nationalize Stelco....like yesterday!!!
The American CEO who bought Stelco is openly admitting that he purchased the company to sabotage it. This is why the Liberals should have never approved Stelco's sale in the first place. When you give away ownership of a critical industry like steel, your economy is forever under another's thumb. There is only one solution that will save these jobs and put Canada back in the driver's seat: we need to nationalize Stelco.

Cleveland-Cliffs’ CEO just admitted it: they bought Stelco in bad faith to kill Canadian competition, and Ontario steelworkers are paying with their futures. Ontario can’t stand on the sidelines. Ford and Carney must bring Stelco under public ownership and protect these jobs.
