I was board so I built a board game. And I'm working on a Claude skill to make more board games. jschall.github.io/bumble/

And also Reddit is absurdly upset about this.

Astra is currently autonomously using PCBWeave (the completely greenfield browser-native EDA suite that I've been building for the last 4 months) to build progressively more complex boards end-to-end. It is autonomously filing tickets for Fable to fix using Opus and Grok subagents as it finds bugs and UI snags. This is interesting because it is successfully using software that it was *definitely* never trained on to build PCBs from scratch. Are they even good PCBs? Of course not, but it is doing it! PCBWeave is currently invite-only. DM for an invite.

It's wild how much of the PCB design process, as commonly practiced, is based on vibes. Not rigorous engineering. Rules of thumb and aesthetics, not simulations. This sets AI up for failure because you can't optimize what you don't measure. Passing ERCs and DRCs is "didn't forget any semicolons." That's the bar we just cleared with Astra.
Breaking: stubborn EE chuds think LLMs are just stochastic parrots, will never be able to conquer the extremely difficult task of plugging things into simulator + copying reference design

New multi-highlighting feature in the EDA software I am building. Really helpful for guiding reworks!

I’ve been trying to loose weight this year and having terrible luck. Then it hit me. Why not use Claude? So I cobbled together an app using open source metabolic models to get a real time estimation of my metabolic system. It’s been working great! I log my food in it and it estimates my liver and muscle glycogen levels. This helps me track how my food and exercise impacts my blood sugar and estimates precisely how much fat vs carbs I’m burning down to the gram. I’m not sure how precise it truly is but the trends match quite closely to reality and my weight input is used to continuously tune the model to match my metabolism. I’m about six pounds down now.

🚨 Our AI schematic review capability just saved our pilot customer from spending $16,000 on broken circuit boards.
I used @grok, @claudeai and @OpenAI to build a complete PCB EDA suite, which includes: - Real-time collaboration with other users. Edit the same schematic, see each other's cursors and selections. - A multi-agent AI assistant that can orchestrate subagents to review documents, perform deep reviews of the schematic, suggest BOM additions and circuits. - Outputs that assist coding agents in understanding your PCB so that they can write the firmware for it. This project as it stands now is the result of many thousands of agent sessions. I frequently run 30+ sessions at a time to complete audits and other tasks that span hundreds of agent sessions. I have spec documents that took 800+ agent sessions to complete and review. I use my own harness built using headless agents (claude -p, codex exec, etc). This is the largest project I have ever built, at ~250k SLOC. The goal is to create a Thingiverse/Cults3D-like marketplace for engineers to share their boards and circuits, and to make circuit reuse much easier. Imagine you want to build a drone with a single circuit board: you need an autopilot, an RC receiver, an ESC, a GPS, a power supply. You don't have to design each of these from scratch - you tell the AI what you want and the AI builds the schematic out of a bunch of marketplace circuits. You flip to the PCB tab and each of these major circuits is already laid out - you drag them into place and draw the traces between them. It is invite-only for now. It has been an absolute blast building this and I hope to get it out to people soon. Schematics are pretty mature, PCB design isn't ready yet. Happy to invite people who want to give it a shot anyway, as long as it is understood that it is not ready for end-to-end design. So far, I've been funding development myself. Would love to connect with anyone who sees the potential and wants to help accelerate it. #PCBDesign #EDA #HardwareAI #ElectronicsEngineering

At 3DR we developed geotagged video which allowed us to incorporate AR based visuals into the app. We built the home locator that shipped, object tracking and some games like ring racing and this AT-AT mockup. Would have been amazing to finish it.

I will never understand @Tesla's decision to change the function of the right scroll wheel button between vehicles On older 3/Y with stalks, it is the voice control button, and on newer vehicles such as @cybertruck, it is the FSD button. They should have put a dedicated FSD button next to it and kept it as the voice control button. Instead, they put a dedicated voice control button next to it and changed its function to FSD engage/disengage. This creates a MAJOR human factors safety problem where the human accidentally disengages FSD. My wife nearly crashed us by pressing the button on a corner on an 80mph curve, because she is used to it being the voice button.

FYI for everyone discussing the vehicles' crash performance in the latest @whistlindiesell video It was nothing unexpected. The physics says that the @cybertruck's 111mph impact with a lighter vehicle was equivalent to a 45-50mph impact with a solid barrier - just a little higher than what gets tested by @NHTSAgov and @IIHS_autosafety The F150, on the other hand, was subjected to an equivalent of a 60-65mph barrier crash. Just be aware of that when comparing the damage on the 2 vehicles. THAT SAID: I will put my family in the one that didn't burn to a crisp in the 20 seconds it took for the fire truck to arrive, tyvm.

Do you think I'm on the right track? Let me know in the replies. Want an invite link? Give me useful feedback in the replies and repost this post and I'll send you one. Think you can help me in any way? DMs open. This will be a FREE tool for the open source hardware community to use, and one major goal is to enable the community to import other projects or pieces of other projects and create derivative works with ease. At the moment it is not ready for production use. I'll try to post updates on this at least once a week. Right now I'm rebuilding the UI/UX flow for defining parts in the BOM and placing them on the schematic. The data model is changing so that most of the fields that previously lived in the symbol will now live in the BOM line item. The goal is a clean, simple user experience that still offers the power that professional EEs need. I'm in this to build a usable tool for real professionals - not to try to attract investors using buzzwords. - BOM line items each have a human-readable name, which is generated either procedurally or by an LLM depending on the type of part - Drag components from the BOM panel on the right onto the schematic, or press a hotkey to open the searchable placement tool dialog. - To add a new component to the BOM, the "add part to BOM" modal allows you to select from a menu of common symbols, or search for a specific part number. The goal is to streamline the process of locating a symbol and footprint for a part as much as possible. BOM lines have documentation (datasheets, application notes, etc) associated with them. The AI assistant can perform deep research against these documents to answer questions or review the schematic.
