For everyone hoping that Steichen will be gone after '27, refer to this video. It's possible I'm reading this answer wrong, it's also very possible Shane is back for one more season.
Mark this down for future reference. As long as Carlie Irsay-Gordon is calling the shots for the #Colts, they'll never hire a GM and head coach in the same year.
If Ballard isn't back in 2027, Steichen will be.

I criticized the Colts for the worst trade of 2025, giving up two firsts for Sauce Gardner.
But getting a 3rd (and a 5th) for Nelson on an expiring contract -- they were going to lose him in two months regardless -- is good work by their front office.
Absolutely hate to see Q go. One of my favorite #Colts of all time. But this is better for everyone.
I know fans are upset about compensation but the bottom line is he's a 30 year old guard. He's really good, but a 3rd was what I expected.

Trade: Colts have agreed to send eight-time Pro-Bowl guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks, per me and @rapsheet. Nelson is on an expiring contract and the Colts are opting to get back draft capital now before they could lose him in free agency.
