What happens when the incredibly talented Chef Manisha Bhasin @ChefManisha visits, and you spend hours talking about sustainable food while bonding over home-cooked meals garnished with fresh herbs from the kitchen garden? Pure magic. Grateful to enjoy dishes prepared by the one and only chef herself — and I even got to make pongsen, a traditional Ao Naga delicacy.
Food, stories, and culture shared around one table. A beautiful start to the month of May, welcoming the summer season and celebrating Ao Naga Moatsü Mong. 🌿🍲☀️

I had the privilege of engaging with an inspiring group of climate scientists through the My Climate Risk Interdisciplinary Learning Group under the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) on 10 Nov 2025.
It was a meaningful opportunity to share my research and learning journey on a topic deeply connected to both my heart and my roots: “Listening to the Mountains: Insights from Indigenous Mountain Food Systems for a Resilient Future.” The presentation was followed by rich and insightful discussions that deepened our collective understanding.
Grateful to the Walker Institute (now Pearl) for making this experience possible.

Absolutely agree @UNGeneva . This echoes an article I wrote on 9th August on World Indigenous Peoples Day, “AI at crossroads: Will tech protect or erase indigenous identity in Northeast (India)”.
According to the Indigenous World 2025: India report by the International Work Group for Indigenous Affairs (IWGIA), India is home to around 705 ethnic groups recognized as Scheduled Tribes, with the Northeast comprising a large portion of this population. @UNFPAIndia

AI can perpetuate historical injustice or be a tool for healing.
When Indigenous Peoples’ knowledge is used without consent, it echoes centuries of cultural appropriation. When done right, AI can be a tool for communities to revitalize & teach their traditions. #WeAreIndigenous

Today August 9 is the UN International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. The 2025 theme, “Indigenous Peoples and AI: Defending Rights, Shaping Futures”, takes on particular significance for Northeast India—AI can serve as a tool for self-determination, resilience, and inclusive development, helping to preserve cultural identity while embracing progress.
