We support “Build Community Safety Through Prevention, Not Policing” for convention because abolition is class struggle. Working class people need community-based solutions, not criminalization and incarceration.
A vote for W2W is a vote for an abolitionist socialist future! 🔴

The National Political Committee declared DSA-LA’s endorsement of Nithya Raman in violation of DSA’s organizational principles and processes. So where do we go from here?

The pre-dawn raid on Ilhan Omar's home in D.C., the attempt to extradite Fergie Chambers from Spain on politically motivated charges related to Palestine solidarity, the DOJ investigation of Shawn Fain following his internal UAW advocacy for a ceasefire in the genocide, and the targeting of CODEPINK, BT News, and other organizations supported by Roy Singham represent an escalating pattern of political repression against those who show solidarity with Palestine and oppose U.S. militarism and fascism.
It is critical that we speak forcefully against this abuse of civil liberties and the weaponization of the Department of Justice, congressional authority, and federal agencies against dissent. Without concerted and organized pushback, this repression will only get worse.

When the police unions come after Mamdani it’s important to also defend his decision with holding them accountable. It’s a two way street, we criticize when he needs to do better and we support when he comes through.

3 months ago Zohran announced an NYPD expansion.
After pushback from Emerge caucus, which a bunch of DSA chapters and NYC orgs signed onto, he cancelled it.
He is responsive to public pressure. You don't have to be so fragile and defensive about him.

PYM NYC Statement: Zohran Mamdani and the Palestine Movement in NYC
THREAD 🧵 ⬇️
Ricardo Herrera retweeted
Genuinely not as disappointed in Mamdani as I am at all those who refuse to hold elected officials feet to the fire.
He has absolutely no incentive to deliver on the demands of the Palestine movement if we don’t relentlessly make those demands. Meanwhile, Zionist organizations are doing exactly that, applying pressure and getting more and more of what they want, while people who claim to be on the left or support Palestine tell us our strategy should be to shut up.
It’s absurd. You see that political pressure works. You see Zionist organizations using it to advance their interests. Yet somehow when Palestinians do that, in the context of a genocide no less, we’re accused of doing AIPAC’s job for them.
There is nothing Zionist organizations would like more than for the Palestine liberation movement to silence ourselves while politicians endlessly cater to their demands.
But what infuriates me even more is being lectured by Americans whose tax dollars are funding the weapons slaughtering my people. People who not only refuse to hold their own politicians accountable or do more to stop the genocide, but have the audacity to tell Palestinians to shut up about it.
You don’t get to sit comfortably in the country financing the slaughter of our people, refuse to hold your own politicians accountable, and then lecture us about how we’re allowed to resist it.

"Solidarity is measured by what you do with power, not what you say to obtain it." 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
RIGHT NOW: Zohran Mamdani stands on the Israeli side of an October 7 vigil while Palestinian organizers and supporters of Palestinian liberation directly protest him.
Another politician at the vigil is Brad Lander, who increased NYC pension holdings in Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer, as their weapons were used to annihilate Palestinians at the height of the Gaza genocide.
Meanwhile, students across NYC are walking out of classrooms demanding an end to the city’s complicity in Israel’s genocide of Palestinians.
Mamdani campaigned on solidarity with Palestine. Now the movement is confronting him over the gap between that solidarity and his political decisions. This is not a hypothetical contradiction or a disagreement over rhetoric. It is a confrontation over where political power is being exercised, whose demands are being accommodated, and whose are being dismissed.
Solidarity is measured by what you do with power, not what you say to obtain it.

OUT NOW IN GEESE MAGAZINE: A critique of Zohran's "Strategy to Combat Antisemitism," from the World to Win Coalition 🔴

ALT Red title text "On MOCA's 'Strategy to Combat Antisemitism'" and white body text on black background: On September 29, the Mayor's Office to Combat Antisemitism (MOCA) announced a "Strategy to Combat Antisemitism." Framed as a benign attempt to combat antisemitism, the document relies on faulty reporting to justify further empowering the NYPD and directly financing Zionist institutions. New Yorkers voted in overwhelming numbers for a mayor who spoke out against genocide and affirmed the importance of safety for all, from New York to Palestine. Mayor Mamdani's plan betrays the hopes of those New Yorkers.
