CORRECTION: A South Africa free from guns WAS possible, but it's too late now. SA is now awash with illegal guns, including many former SAPS/SANDF weapons. Further restricting legal gun licenses merely makes it easier for armed criminals to overpower unarmed civilians.
A South Africa free from gun violence is possible. Together, we can take illegal guns off our streets and build safer communities for everyone. #ServicedeliveryZA #GovZAUpdatesGP

⚡️️ Zelensky pushes back against Musk, says Ukraine uses Starshield only to defend its territory.
"When Elon Musk said that we use Starshield against the Russians — yes, against the Russians, but on our own territory. This is not offensive; it’s defensive," Zelensky told journalists at a press briefing.

To speak honestly is one of our weapons, to be open, and to be clear. Not to play games with our partners. This is my rule of thumb. There is a lot of pressure on Ukraine at the moment, and of course I have to be louder. And I will be, because it's part of our defense strategy. We are not trying to be somebody else. If I feel that dangerous things are looming over Ukraine, I have to defend my country. And I do what I can, like our soldiers on the battlefield and people who work for Ukraine. And I, the President, have to use every format of diplomacy.

Debate this: For new electricity generation in South Africa, utility-scale solar is the cheapest option by a clear margin. Solar plus storage already beats gas peakers and most new fossil or nuclear alternatives on a levelised cost basis.

Well, at least they are voting from a position of common sense. They feel that there is more than just the colour of one's skin. And they are disappointed by the ANC being pro black and non everybody else.

The objective is to sway votes turnout. They always do that when they see that their horse is in trouble. 🧐

The comments made by Deputy President Paul Mashatile during Monday's briefing in Bronkhorstspruit warrant particular attention.
Mashatile said:
"We are quite CONCERNED ABOUT PRIVATE SUPPLIERS OF WATER WITH WATER TANKERS BECAUSE WE DON'T KNOW WHERE THEY GET THAT WATER FROM. So there will be an intervention to check those but the city is supplying water in the meantime so there's nobody will go without water whilst this plant is being attended to."
Given the national government's concerns, has the City engaged with them to provide assurances regarding the safety of water provided to residents through these private suppliers? Is this again a result of siloed communication?
The City recently announced a temporary suspension of water tanker operations from the Cullinan hydrant, effective immediately, following the results of routine water quality monitoring conducted yesterday.
Interesting 🤔
