🚨 The OpenMHz iOS App is live! 🚨 Still a work in progress - but it has all of the key features and will be getting better in the months to come. It also works on iPads and Mac Silicon, but hasn't been optimized for them yet. apps.apple.com/us/app/openmh…

The WMATA transmissions should hopefully start sounding a bit better. I just got my antenna mounted on the roof… and yes, it is a TV antenna 🤷‍♂️

I have been using @backblaze B2 for storing the audio files... but it looks like @GetSpectrum has been blocking BackBlaze URLs. If you haven't been able to get audio, it is prob because your ISP is blocking it. I switched over to Wasabi storage for now

(1) NEW: HUGE DC 911 news in the middle of @ELaserDavies's article on the latest mistake where someone died. Things are so bad @SafeDC admits they're considering moving fire & EMS dispatch to @dcfireems where it was before OUC was created. (more) @CMLewisGeorgeW4 @charlesallen

Anybody have ideas on settings I might change on my iPhone to make a service like @OpenMHz keep streaming even when I switch apps? Stream won’t skip to next item in playlist when I switch from Chrome or Safari to Twitter, etc. making me a sad neighborhood reporter guy

@patpend I've been monitoring @OpenMHz Alexandria police/fire/ems. Our first responders are slammed. Ambulance response times slow, because of staff shortages, volume and road conditions. Overload of calls for service. Hospital ER slammed. – at Alexandria, VA

(1) NEW: The story of today's Gallery Place incident may be best told in Metro's radio traffic. It's quite dramatic, with apparent confrontations between passengers & Metro workers before some passengers self-evacuated. Listen yourself in the next tweet. (more)

The citizen journalism scene in DC is pretty strong. I really miss Homicide Watch D.C. though - homicidewatch.org/index.html

Nah. Just very glad to see recognition for people covering the news that's not being covered. I actually wrote @LauraHayesDC to futher highlght the importance @OpenMHz & point out a group of other young citizen journalists who are reporting on non-breaking news.
