You people are not brilliant. The first council of Obas was coveyed at the Alaafin's palace Hall in 1937. The Governor of Nigeria then was Bernard Bourdillon and He was in attendance. Ooni was made the permanent chairman of the council following unanimous agreement of the standing traditional rulers there present which includes Oba of Benin, Alaafin of Oyo, Awujale of Ijebu, Alake of Egba land. Ooni presided over the council on permanent basis and no king raised any objection as to why he must be made permanent chairman. They understand the traditional and historical superiority of the OONI. Ooni Aderemi being Governor was during regional politics of western region and of course, the Governor then was performing ceremonial functions which can be compared to the function of the Head of state at the federal in a parliamentary system. The then Head of State was the Queen of England while the Head of government was the Prime Minister. Ooni Aderemi didn't use his office to made himself Permanent head of the council. That has happened long before the western region politics started. No king can rule & unify Yoruba land without question like the Ooni. Countless kingdoms has no link with the Oyo but every kingdom has direct or indirect link to Ile-Ife including Oyo itself. Even till present, the president will reckon with the Ooni first on matters pertaining to the Yorubas before any other kings as you've seen in different functions. That's the order from pre-colonial days, colonial days and post-colonial days. No Ooni has ever served as second to the Alaafin. The Akintola and Awolowo crisis had federal interest due to Awolowo's shadow cabinet and opposition. Akintola was removed as premier for anti-party activities during the Jos conference of the AG and the Governor of western region, Ooni Aderemi approved it following the wish of the party. The federal declared state of emergency and appointed Sole administrator, Majekodunmi to govern thereby suspending both the Premiers (Newly appointed Adegbenro and Controversially removed Akintola) as well as the Governor, the Ooni Aderemi. Aderemi challenged the order and won the case at privy council in London. Aderemi didn't cause the non-partisanship of traditional rulers, in fact he challenged the order and open a pathway for traditional rulers to sustain their relevance through politics. I know you know little about the remote and immediate eason Alaafin's power dwindle before his eventual removal and enforcement of his days in exile - that's story for another day. Go and study before typing your beer-parlour analysis of historical issues online.

“Remarry If You Want, But Step Down From The Pulpit”: Mr. Brown Challenges Pastor Jimmy Odukoya Mr. Afolabi Brown, husband of media personality Morayo Brown, has questioned Pastor Jimmy Odukoya's continued leadership at The Fountain of Life Church following his remarriage. Speaking on Morayo Brown's show, he argued that although Jimmy has the freedom to remarry, he should consider stepping down from the pulpit because of the biblical standards expected of spiritual leaders. Mr. Brown also criticised Jimmy's appearance, mentioning his tattoos, nose ring, earrings, biceps and triceps. He described the pastor as physically attractive and a magnet for women, while questioning the example his lifestyle and marital decisions could set for younger Christians and church members.

If Alaafin Oyo throne is supreme historically in Yorubaland while would the first Alaafin stepped down from the throne and went to become the 6th ruler at his hometown in Ile Ife? I mean stepping down from a senior throne to go and become the junior. That doesn't makes sense.
“I am the supreme king in Yorubaland and the number one king in Yorubaland.” – Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade.

WHO IS THE HEAD OF THE YORUBA RACE? OONI OR ALAAFIN? LET US SETTLE IT. This is the oldest debate in Yorubaland, and both sides are right — but they are right about different kinds of power. Ooni sits in Ile-Ife, Osun State — Arole Oduduwa. Alaafin sits in Oyo, Oyo State — Iku Baba Yeye. One is the SOURCE. One is the EMPIRE. WHY PEOPLE SAY ALAAFIN IS THE HEAD: Because of IMPERIAL HISTORY. From the 14th to the 18th century, Oyo was the biggest, strongest, most organised empire in Yorubaland. Army. Cavalry. Bashorun. Oyo Mesi. Trade routes. Guns. Horses. When Oyo sneezed, all Yorubaland caught cold. Oyo conquered and influenced others. Many Obas in Ilesa, Ondo, Ekiti, Ijebu, Egbado, even Dahomey, either paid tribute to Oyo or got their beaded crown through Oyo's approval. So in people's minds: Alaafin = the one who makes kings. Oyo also controlled the ECONOMY. Kola. Horses. Trade. Later, guns. Whoever controls trade controls power. And when the British came, they found Oyo's government easy to use. They made Alaafin a powerful Native Authority. That colonial boost made many believe Alaafin is supreme. In short: People think Alaafin is head because OYO WAS THE GOVERNMENT. That is true. But that is only HALF the truth. WHY PEOPLE SAY OONI IS THE HEAD: Because of ORIGIN HISTORY. Every Yoruba creation story starts in Ile-Ife. Oduduwa in Ile-Ife. Creation in Ile-Ife. Oranmiyan was born in Ile-Ife, then LEFT Ile-Ife to found Oyo. The son cannot be greater than the father. Ooni is Arole Oduduwa — the direct inheritor of Oduduwa's throne. Even Alaafin traces his lineage to Oranmiyan, son of Oduduwa from Ile-Ife. You cannot be greater than your source. In the old system: IFE CROWNS, OYO RULES. The Ooni blesses the Ida Oranmiyan — the Sword of Oranmiyan. The Alaafin receives spiritual authority from Ife on coronation. That is why even when Oyo was militarily stronger, Oyo NEVER attacked Ife. You don't fight your source. It is taboo. And spirituality lives in Ife. Ifa was revealed in Ife. Orunmila lived in Ife. Obatala, Ogun, Osun, Sango — root shrines in Ife. The Ooni is custodian for ALL Yoruba worldwide — Nigeria, Brazil, Cuba, USA, Trinidad. Alaafin may command an army, but Ooni commands the ancestors. In short: People think Ooni is head because ILE-IFE IS THE ORIGIN. That is also true. That is the OTHER HALF of the truth. SO WHAT IS THE CORRECT CONCLUSION? OONI OF IFE = SPIRITUAL HEAD OF THE YORUBA RACE. Head of origin, tradition, Ifa, Orisa, and spiritual unity. ALAAFIN OF OYO = ADMINISTRATIVE / POLITICAL HEAD OF THE YORUBA RACE. Head of empire, governance, diplomacy, and political organisation. One is the FATHER. One is the ELDER SON WHO BECAME A KING. A father does not compete with his son. A son does not disrespect his father. If Ooni tries to be Alaafin, he loses his spiritual power. If Alaafin tries to be Ooni, he loses his historical legitimacy. What Yoruba needs now is NOT a fight for who is number 1. Yoruba needs: Ooni to unite us spiritually. Alaafin to organise us politically. Both to respect themselves and work TOGETHER IN HARMONY for the progress of the Yoruba race. Ife is the ROOT. Oyo is the BRANCH. A tree needs both to stand. When the spiritual head and the administrative head work together, NO ONE can bring down Yoruba civilization. I am not Yoruba by accident. I am Yoruba by the grace of Olodumare. Let us stop dividing our fathers. Let us honour both thrones. #OoniOfIfe #AlaafinOfOyo #YorubaCivilization #IleIfe #Oyo #Oduduwa #Oranmiyan

It’s now evident that only the Portuguese were not rating Cristiano Ronaldo the way he deserved. New York Time square had to cancel all their programs and broadcast Ronaldo playing for Portugal the whole day as a way of honoring his legacy.
