#KansasSenate Adam Hamilton on transgender rights: ā€œI don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself.ā€ ā€œI’m gonna love the trans person as well as the straight person, male or female. We have to do better than picking on small groups. What’s happened is we’ve turned a group of people into a campaign issue because it polls well.ā€

This is actually a condescending view of working-class people. I grew up in a working-class immigrant family and we ate at Red Lobster and The Cheesecake Factory for "fancy nights out." But even we understood that the White House should not look like the inside of a Red Lobster. Working-class people are not culturally illiterate just because their experiences are shaped by their limited means.
Does Obama not understand that to most Americans the Cheesecake Factory is a very nice and fancy restaurant?

"Everything we love is on the line" in the US election. I argue that President Trump has systematically undone the strategy that since the 19th century has made the US the world's leading country. He has eroded our sources of greatness. So what's at stake isn't just affordability or data centers or the Iran war. It's America's future: nytimes.com/2026/10/24/opini…

This Forbes investigation is a must-read. Donald Trump pulled in roughly $1.4 billion from crypto in 2025, plus more than $200 million from real estate, and faced a projected tax bill north of $500 million. So his company donated the "development rights" to his Jupiter, Florida golf course to a land trust, argued the course was a natural habitat worth protecting, and kept right on running the club. Forbes estimates the write-off could land around $825 million. He has done this at least five times since 2005. New York's attorney general alleged two of those appraisals were inflated. In Doral, he claimed a deduction of up to $323 million, more than double what he paid for the entire resort. A month after the Jupiter deal, he sued the IRS. The settlement his own Justice Department signed bars claims against him over matters that "could be pending," language that appears broad enough to cover this year's taxes. A federal judge found the case was brought to manipulate the judicial process. And the man now running the IRS, who took the job as this deal was being assembled, has a home backing onto those same Jupiter fairways. This is absolutely ridiculous. Nobody should be able to use the presidency to write his own tax bill. forbes.com/sites/danalexande…

New Talarico ad running statewide: "Ken Paxton says, I don't have his experience, and he's right. "I've never been indicted for fraud. I've never been reported to the FBI for bribery. I've never been impeached by my own party, and I've never given a sweetheart deal to a pedophile. "I have a different kind of experience. I've worked with both parties to cap the cost of insulin and pass the largest property tax cut in Texas history. I'm James Tallarico and I approve this message because we need a different kind of experience in Washington."

Israel is the result of a modern community of Jews attaining statehood when Britain abandoned its colony in Palestine. It's legitimacy rests on the right of that community to self-determination and the international community's decision to recognize Isareli independence. It's legitimacy does not rest on the idea of "ancient homeland rights." Such a right does not exist and it would require the entire world map to be redrawn if it were consistently applied. Confusingly, framing Israel as an "ancient homecoming" is the national origin myth for many Israelis and non-Israeli Jews who back Israel. Not only is this myth completely uncompelling to anyone who isn't Jewish, it is not a legally sound argument to defend Israel's legitimacy. And this ideology also takes dark turns. It is used to support the revanchist and colonial settlement project in the West Bank, and to deny Palestinian self-determination generally. The path to peace is respecting international law and the rights of both Israelis and Palestinians to self-determination.

šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡¦ Zelenskyy delivers a blunt message to the United States: ā€œJust give us Starlink back. If you refuse, Ukraine will survive. We will continue defending ourselves with or without it. But why would you restrict a country fighting for its survival? Why make it harder for us to defend our people? I simply cannot understand the reasoning behind this decision. It is a mistake.ā€ Ukraine isn’t asking America to fight its war. It’s asking America not to stand in the way of its defense.

Ukraine is fighting for its life and freedom. They aren't fighting for nothing. Russia is fighting for nothing besides Putin's ego. I can not express how much contempt I have for this "man".

Spare me the pearl-clutching — especially from Republican Members of Congress and online MAGA grifters who have cheered President Trump's weaponization of the government against those he doesn’t like, as recently as last week. This is a subject I know something about: Less than a year ago, Trump directed the DOJ and FBI to investigate me, and then tried to criminally indict me for a 90 second video, exercising basic free speech. The same free speech you’re exercising now, lying about what I said in this clip. If not for an anonymous group of grand jury members standing up for America's laws, I’d be criminally indicted for sedition. President Trump has turned the government against people, with raucous support from you and virtually all D.C. Republicans. So spare us the manufactured outrage. America must be a place where the rule of law still matters. Those laws should apply to everyone equally. If you have aided in the corrupt use of U.S. taxpayer dollars to benefit the President or his family, or you have violated the law in order to carry out guidance from the President, you should be held accountable. And given how rampant that corruption appears to the average American, people looking to work for his Administration should realize that while the Supreme Court has granted the President immunity, it has not done the same for those who do illegal things at his behest.
It is absolutely disgraceful to threaten young Americans for participating in politics and serving their country.

If you found Uncommitted both unproductive and unwise (as I and many others did), I don’t really understand how you can justify something like this given the stakes. Should have equally loud condemnation in my view.

The president and his administration are supercharging American decline, and adding both shame and dishonor to that decline.
.@SECWAR: "Under the previous administration—whether it was October 7th, the war in Ukraine, or the withdrawal in Afghanistan—the world looked at America and WONDERED whether or not we were capable of executing the way we did in the past... PRESIDENT TRUMP SAID WE WILL NOT ACCEPT AMERICAN DECLINE."
