Good breakdown by @BioLayne of new research on long muscle length partial rep training. This meta shift in has been brewing for the past few years. Kinda wild if you think about it. Keep an eye out for a new video soon 💪
Training at long muscle lengths grows muscle better than training at short muscle lengths 💪
New research breakdown! RIP @dr.joelseedman_ahp 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
We have substantial research demonstrating that full range of motion (ROM) training produces better hypertrophy & strength than partial range of motion training but that has only been shown when the partial reps are when the muscle is in a shortened position (PMID: 34170576)
A new meta-analysis by @bradschoenfeldphd @dr__pak @wolfcoach_ @bretcontreras1 @menno.henselmans @drmikeroberts compared training at long muscle lengths vs training at short muscle lengths & found that training at long muscle lengths produced more hypertrophy than training at shortened muscle lengths
This body of literature demonstrating that to maximize muscular hypertrophy it is important to train muscles in a lengthened position. Some have postulated that lengthened partials may produce more hypertrophy than full ROM training but thus far the research shows them to be equivalent when volume & intensity are matched
Anyone wanna take a bet on if @dr.joelseedman_ahp adjusts his recommendations to be in line with the literature? Spoiler alert… he won’t

Table is showing effectively the opposite (lower assc. risk).
"inverse all-cause mortality hazard reductions were observed for unit increase of weightlifting"
"...these findings support meeting both the aerobic MVPA and muscle strengthening..."

Pre-print is up! Cold water immersion inhibits muscle development when applied immediately after resistance training on a regular basis. Kudos to my master's degree student Alec Pinero for spearheading 💪

The best time to train is when it suits your lifestyle 💪

Am I wrong for feeling a bit judgy when health/fitness expert posts a contextless screenshot of a scientific study rather than posting the study itself?

The majority of gainz can be achieved with a fairly basic, minimalistic training program. On the other hand, substantially more time, effort and knowledge are required to optimize your muscle-building potential 💪🏽

Genetics matter. That said, virtually everyone has the ability to substantially improve their muscularity with proper training, consistency and determination. And if you weren't blessed with the best genetics, the more important it is to take a scientific approach to training 💪

None of these exercises will build any noticeable muscle mass at all. Not even close to enough tension. They will burn some calories and improve endurance though.

Reposting this: Examine is hiring for a remote researcher position. Know anyone who fits this bill?

I generally don't call out specific people for making blatantly false claims, but this video has almost 1 million views so it's evidently impressionable. So for the record, there is no evidence that soy protein will feminize men.

If I could give two pieces of advice to people with new year's resolutions related to fitness or weight loss, they would be:
1) focus on process over outcome
2) learn to embrace "good enough."

The strength of the evidence for a study result depends notably on this result’s 𝘱-value. Our page on 𝘱-values is simple enough for laymen *and* accurate enough for the stickler biostatisticians among you. 🧐📈

Overturning Roe and outlawing abortions will never make them go away.
It only makes them more dangerous, especially for the poor + marginalized.
People will die because of this decision. And we will never stop until abortion rights are restored in the United States of America.
