Saw the most ridiculous thing this morning. A "firework control zone" where it's ILLEGAL to light a firework between 30th October and 8th November, but absolutely fine outside of the those dates.
What in the puritanical authoritarian controlling hellscape is this?
3 days this road has been closed now, causing significant delays on the airport road and disruption for hundreds of commuters. The first day they were clearing storm damage but not a single thing done since.
Why do we put up with this shit?
If you're going to close a major bit of road that was designed to reduce congestion you should have a legal requirement to work around the clock to get it open again. As usual motorists just get ignored and expected to suck it up. Not as bad as the travesty that is Livingston but
still. In other countries when there's a road closure you actually see people working on it or there's a an explanation of why. Here they just put up cones, go "road closed, live with it" and we just accept it.
Where's the accountability? @StephenFlynnSNP ?
Heard @JennyGilruthMSP on the radio this morning and she was asked about Rosebank's approval and the tax revenue it bring, and whether the Scottish Government agreed it should go ahead. Her answer:
"Waffle waffle climate change, waffle waffle matter for UK ministers"
Incredible.
Why is it so hard to be honest? Yes, we want to be independent, but why is it impossible for the SNP to just go "yeah, we would have approved it too and we of course welcome the decision"? These are serious decisions for serious and credible politicians, not a game of Pictionary

Should it be illegal for UK based companies offering services to customers in the UK to "offshore" UK roles?

Today we lost Walter Koenig.
Some thoughts about a fine actor and an exceptional human being...
Sad news indeed. They screwed him over cutting some of his work from VI but he had a great career. Not many actors who will pass knowing they will genuinely be loved forever.
He did look frail in the last documentary but still, another light goes out.

This is the official map of Scottish territorial waters according to UNCLOS (United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea). There is therefore no discussion or debate to be had, Jackdaw & Rosebank are very firmly in Scottish waters according to international law.

There was a time when Scottish Conservatives at least pretended to stand up for Scottish interests. The current cohort could be told the British were going to shit on their cornflakes every morning and they would proudly tell us all it was the right decision as they crunch down.
Today’s BBC Scotland announcements are difficult, especially for the staff affected.
But these are the right decisions.
The way people watch TV has changed. The BBC has to respond to that reality.
It needs to spend licence fee payers’ money wisely, focus on quality journalism and programming, and stay relevant in Scotland.
Keeping services going simply because they’ve always existed isn’t sensible.
Difficult, yes, but necessary for a strong BBC.
