🚨 NEW: Scott Colom, the Democrat vying to be Mississippi’s first black Senator since 1881, has won counties named after the founder of the Ku Klux Klan and the President of the Confederacy
Forrest County is named for Klan founder Nathan Bedford Forrest, whilst Jefferson Davis County is named for the only Confederate President
Stop The Count!
Cindy Hyde-Smith is going to represent Mississippi in the United States Senate for the next six years. We believe thousands of votes remain to be counted from dozens of Republican counties, and we are confident those votes will reinforce her path to victory.
Election officials are continuing the normal process of counting outstanding ballots, including absentee ballots. They must have the time to complete that work and ensure every lawful ballot is accurately counted and every Mississippian’s voice is heard.
We expect Democratic lawyers to pull out every stop, and we are prepared. Our focus is on completing the count and returning Cindy Hyde-Smith to the Senate to keep fighting for Mississippi values.

Also the home of slain civil rights activist Vernon Dahmer - famous for the “If You Don’t Vote, You Don’t Count” quote so the history here is layered. ALSO the home of The University of Southern Mississippi which has historically put up damn near HBCU numbers in Black enrollment

Lesson from this week: Democrats can easily win southern states by just being fucking normal … not campaigning on shit like ending plastic straws and banning air conditioners unless the temperature is above 85 degrees.
