I wrote about Rosa Luxemburg for the anniversary of her birthday today.
She is of the most interesting and controversial people to ever live, and she would want to be remembered for what she thought and did, and why they killed her!
Today is the birthday of the revolutionary Rosa Luxemburg.
Routinely reduced to an inoffensive libertarian figure, the harder edges of her class-struggle politics are often ignored. jacobin.com/2026/03/rosa-lux…

Me: Martin Luther, stop that! Do NOT initiate the early modern period of European history!!
Martin Luther, hammering theses onto a door: Well first off, depending on your definitions that isn’t even what I’m doing.

I've written about the Burnham govt's outrageous ban on Andreas Malm entering the UK - for @jacobin.
This repression of the left is yet another sign of things to come from a govt on the wrong side of every major moral question of our time.

This is false. They infamously couldn’t tell who was Jewish just by looking even if they propagandised about the fact they could.
The primary method was looking at records, local collaborators and rounding up segregated areas.

New budding movement is emerging in Georgia to save the Expo. The Soviet built expo of course was privatized in the 90s as most public buildings were but still maintained its public function. Now they’re selling to build private residence buildings, ‘multifunctional complex’ and they’re saying they’ll retain the Soviet architectural heritage and site’s exhibition function, green spaces but at the end of the day it’s a private residence complex and those promises to keep it public are viewed with suspicion.
‘The Exhibition Complex of Achievements of the National Economy of the Georgian SSR (known today as "Expo Georgia") opened in 1961. Its purpose was to showcase achievements in industry, agriculture, construction, transport, communications, healthcare, culture, science, and technology. The chief architect of the complex is Levan Mamaladze.

Maybe it's that the pundit class doesn't want to be seen as excusing urban violence, but there hasn't been nearly enough alarm – or comment – at the concerted attempt to depict the protests in France as 'race riots'. jacobin.com/2026/10/france-s…

It is a strange world.
Because 5.7 million people live in three small Baltic countries (whose total size is less than a Chinese Tier II city). and whose half of the population lives in Europe, and another third are Russians who cannot get citizenship, and because they have traumas and bad memories of the Soviet rule, the entire world of 8 billion people should go into a nuclear apocalypse and die.

In the United States “Irish” is an ethno-confessional autonym that has nothing to do with Ireland, just like its cousin “Scotch-Irish.” It means “historically Catholic but not in a Mediterranean/Slavic way.” Most Irish Americans are German the way most Scotch-Irish are English.

Just before Peter Thomas died, I'd read this about him in a forthcoming book about 'Gramsci in Russia' edited by Craig Brandist for the HM series. This is how I'll remember him, and this is what real scholarship is: drinking with Gramsci's relatives
absolute queen. the question is now what the fuck the party is going to do about the scum within it that leak messages to Die fucking Welt

The number of people defending this is astounding. "Latvia has no obligation to host foreigners who disagree with them" being the main line. Extend this line of thinking out. You'd have no problem with the Trump administration cancelling green cards because of political views?
I personally know Leonid Ragozin and shared a newsroom with him in the 2000s. I may not agree with everything he says, but it’s crazy and shameful to portray him as a Kremlin propagandist. To me, this is a direct assault on freedom of speech.
