My predictions over the following months: 1. Stock market will get hurt bad when the music stops on data centers, models, and chips. Too much froth, too high of investment, too many companies will fail. The switching costs are low. I don't know how these companies will become profitable. Its a mega bubble. The rest of the economy is already in a deep recession. Real pain will set in when the public markets dive. 2. Power is the bottleneck. AI is burning an absurd amount of power. The cost of electricity is skyrocketing which is making the cost of everyday life more expensive and hurting quality of life. I'm against data centers because of the power, not the water. The grid is extremely fragile and the weakness will be exposed in the coming months. 3. Subsidies are skewing the market. AI isn't cheap. The prices to use it are artificially low because of subsidies all the way up the chain. You pay $20 or $200 a month but the true costs are 10x That spread is venture capital money being incinerated at scale. When they raise the price, the users will disappear and investors will hold the bag. 3. A big security breach is coming. A bank, a certain model, something is going to rock our world. People are letting bots log in to their banks, their email and everything else. Big trouble coming. 4. Grokbot is exceptional. Its the first model that is adding significant value to my everyday life. I don't know why anybody would use a different personal assistant. 5. AI is insanely high maintenance Billions are being poured into training the next model. They day it comes out its already behind. China has cheaper electricity and more chips. The chips they bought will be obsolete in 18 months. Companies are stuck paying big money every month to maintain and update all of their AI tools. Its a mess. 6. The power companies will renege on their deals. Political pressure will unwind all the unsustainable power deals these data centers and LLMs have negotiated. Power costs will explode. Then comes the choice: Do we jack up costs for our AI / compute and watch everybody switch to the next model or do we incinerate more VC capital? Nobody wins. 7. Credit will be the first domino to fall. Data centers are already struggling to finance the GPUs over 10 years when they will be obsolete in 18 months. We'll end up with a shit load of half built data centers who can't negotiate power rates or buy chips because nobody will let them borrow money. The money will get cold feet as soon as the markets tank and the show will be over. 8. It'll be a dark, dark period in economic markets. The people who own assets that make real money (real estate or businesses) will win. The people who plan ahead and avoid massive leverage will win. The people with cash on their balance sheet will accumulate more assets and generate exceptional wealth. -- Don't listen to me. I'm just a bear. Not investment advice. Good luck!

It's as though we can predict what happens when a society gets Islamized.
Wow, this is what Yemen looked like in the 1960s under British rule. That was over half a century ago, but it looked decades more advanced than Yemen does today. It’s almost unbelievable compared to what the country has become. And it’s a testament to how quickly a country can collapse once Islam reigns supreme.

“Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there-on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves. The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand. It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.” ― Carl Sagan, Pale Blue Dot

This land was named “Palestine” by the Romans nearly 2,000 years ago, after crushing a Jewish revolt, as an attempt to erase Jewish identity and invoke the memory of the Jews’ long-defeated biblical enemies, the Philistines. For millennia, the region was ruled by various empires. In the centuries before the establishment of Israel, it was ruled by the Turkish Ottomans and later the British. There was never an independent Arab state here called Palestine. Golda Meir put it plainly: “East and West Bank was Palestine. I’m a Palestinian. From ’21 to ’48 I carried a Palestinian passport. There was no such thing here as Jews, Arabs and Palestinians. There were Jews and Arabs.” - Golda Meir, Former Prime Minister of Israel

I’m sick to my stomach. I honestly never thought that I would witness such an antisemitic piece of American political propaganda in my lifetime. This is Nazi-Islamic antisemitism delivered against the Jewish collective in 2026 in the United States. By endorsing Abdel El-Sayed, the Democratic Party has crossed a threshold that signals a sickening decay of dangerous proportions to the American Jewish community. If this ad isn’t pulled with an explicit apology to the Jewish community, I will say Kaddish over my country of birth. I’m disgusted by what was once a great country. Voting Democratic is now like voting for the Nazi party. Anyone who rationalizes this ad as anything other than an Islamic-Nazi propaganda piece that scapegoats the collective Jew for cheap political currency has succumbed to antizionist brainwashing. x.com/Joelmpetlin/st…
New low for normalized Jew-hate in the American Democratic Party. Very sad: Painting your political opponents as puppets of Jews, as this El-Sayed ad does, and as crazed baby-killers and money-grubbing villains who are the root cause of every bad thing not just in the world, but in your life—from wars to the price of eggs to the reason you can’t have free healthcare—is not just low-grade Jew-hate. It’s pure Third Reich stuff, translated directly from the original German. Do you remember when Jewish Democrats in Michigan explained that they would vote for El-Sayed despite his open disdain for Jews, since there are many other important issues they need him to fight for? That anything was worth it to “defeat MAGA”? Well, here’s El-Sayed’s answer to them: Don’t worry, all those issues we agree on, like healthcare, inflation, and climate change, I’m going to make them about Jews too! I will tell the public that the Jews are the reason they can’t have those things.

Like it or not, LOADS of viewers will STILL ROOT for Paul as the HERO, as Frank Herbert intended. Both the films and books portray him as trapped by prescience, with no better choices. This allows us to sympathize with Paul and root for him while still recognizing the dangers of powerful large human systems, which is also what Herbert intended. FOR THIS REASON, positioning Chani in opposition to Paul risks making her the antagonist to what many audiences see as his most reasonable, albeit terrible, course of action.
Just rewatched Dune and MAN, I forgot how much of a drag Chani is. Just scene after scene of pouting and scowling while Paul unites her people and heroically leads them to victory over the outworlders that have plagued them for centuries. Truly the wettest of blankets.

My thoughts of late have returned to this amazing scene by @WilliamShatner, made decades ago. As a young person, I found it tremendously inspiring. A code to live by. But it didn’t play out quite like we expected. The “fantastically advanced” life that we actually ended up encountering is right here, on Earth. All around us now. The key issue of our time is becoming this: Not everyone signed up for this mission, or the risk. And what we do about that, ultimately, is where the debate about AI will end up.

A24 is looking to level up and beat the majors at their own game — making blockbusters. ELDEN RING is the first real step in that strategy and the studio decided to place its biggest bet on Alex Garland, who has directed several successful features (Ex Machina, Civil War) for A24
A24 is reportedly spending nearly $200 million on its Elden Ring movie, by far the most expensive film the studio has ever produced.

Once you see the world through this lens, a lot of things that looked random suddenly make sense. You understand why Macron recognized a Palestinian state at the UN. Not a state with borders it controls, a single government, or elections. A symbol. A gesture for domestic consumption, performed on the world stage. That's the politics of posture over reality, the obłuda I described earlier: what matters isn't what is true on the ground, it's the narrative you get to emit. You understand why Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the leader of France's hard left and a man trained in Trotskyist organizations in his youth, made Gaza the center of his politics and refused for months to call Hamas a terrorist organization. Look at the mechanism. He doesn't address French Muslims as individuals with their own jobs, families, ambitions and disagreements. He addresses them as a bloc. A mass to be mobilized. That's the collectivist reflex in its purest form: you don't speak to people, you herd categories. Yesterday the proletariat, today identity blocs. The individual disappears every time. You understand why Zohran Mamdani built his rise on the Democratic Socialists of America. The mayor of New York isn't just a progressive Democrat. He's a DSA member, and DSA doesn't hide what it is: an organization that openly calls itself socialist and treats the Democratic Party as a vehicle. His campaign promised a rent freeze, city-run grocery stores, free buses. Every one of those ideas has the same shape: the individual steps back, the city steps in. The price is set by the planner, the store is run by the planner, and voters are addressed as categories, tenants, riders, communities, rather than as free people who can build something of their own. And Mamdani didn't come out of nowhere. The same movement helped send Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to Congress in 2018, and Bernie Sanders spent decades making the word "socialist" respectable in American politics. Different faces, same software. The lie isn't that they hide their ideology. It's the promise attached to it: that you can freeze prices without killing supply, that the state can run what entrepreneurs run, that someone else will always pay. That promise has been tested on every continent. It has never been kept. And you understand the most important thing: collectivists need chaos. This isn't a metaphor. It's their own doctrine. Lenin's strategy in 1914 was to turn the war between nations into a civil war inside them. The Soviet Union spent decades arming and funding movements across the Middle East and pushed through the 1975 UN resolution equating Zionism with racism. The KGB had an entire doctrine, "active measures," dedicated to amplifying every division inside Western societies. A stable, prosperous, confident society is the collectivist's worst enemy. Chaos is his natural habitat. Why? Because chaos is the perfect justification. It justifies emergency powers. It justifies more state. It turns citizens into frightened masses looking for a shepherd. It replaces individual judgment with tribal loyalty. A society at peace with itself asks the planner: what do we need you for? Look at the two great conflicts of our time through this lens. Russia's war in Ukraine was launched by a former KGB officer who called the collapse of the Soviet Union the greatest catastrophe of the century. A man formed in the exact school that treated chaos as a weapon. He doesn't just wage war on Ukraine. He wages it on Western cohesion, feeding every division he can find in our elections, our streets, our feeds. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the perfect fuel for Western politics. It splits every campus, every party, every city. It lets politicians like Mélenchon build an electoral base on permanent outrage. And for everyone who lives off that outrage, a real peace would be a disaster. Ask yourself honestly: who in our political class actually has an interest in this conflict ending? That's the pattern. The people who live off chaos never solve it. They manage it, they feed it, they posture around it. Because a solved problem is a lost lever. Freedom produces order from the bottom up: people who own things, build things, trade with each other and have something to lose. Collectivism produces disorder from the bottom up and then sells you order from the top down. Once you see it, you can't unsee it.
A lot of people are trying to explain the Epstein affair through antisemitism. They're looking at the wrong axis. Bill Gates isn't Jewish. He met Epstein several times, years after Epstein's conviction. If your theory is ethnic, it collapses on the very first name. I read the Epstein affair through a different lens: the oldest war in human history. The individual versus the mass. Private property, freedom to build, freedom to grow, versus the mind that looks at humanity and sees livestock to be managed. Look at what Epstein actually believed. He told scientists he wanted to "seed the human race with his DNA" by impregnating women at his New Mexico ranch. In emails released this year, he argued that racial gaps in test scores were genetic and pushed genetic editing as the answer. He mused to an AI researcher that "maybe climate change is a good way of dealing with overpopulation." Notice what's missing from all of it: the individual. Only populations, stocks, gene pools, numbers to optimize. Humans as raw material for a design drawn up by someone who considers himself above them. That's not a Jewish trait. It's not even a left or right trait in the electoral sense. It's the mental structure at the core of Marxism: the conviction that an enlightened few have the right to engineer humanity from above, and that individuals are just inputs. Marx wanted to remake man through the economy. The eugenicists wanted to remake him through breeding. The transhumanists want to remake him through technology. Same posture. The planner and the herd. Communism never died. It changed vocabulary. From the Politburo to the Davos panel. From the five-year plan to the global roadmap. From "the new Soviet man" to "optimizing the species." And the people who hold this view don't need to be cynical. They sincerely believe they're the shepherds. Which brings us to the AI era. Bill Gates said on national TV that within a decade humans won't be needed "for most things." Think about what that sentence assumes. That a human being's value is their output. That once a machine can produce it, you're surplus. That someone, somewhere, will decide what you're still allowed to do. That's the real fault line of this century. Not Jews versus non-Jews. Not even left versus right. Collectivists versus free people. Those who see humanity as a mass to be managed, and those who see each human being as sovereign: owner of their body, their work, their property, their future. AI can go two ways. It can be the greatest tool of individual empowerment ever built, letting one person do what used to take an entire company. Or it can be the ultimate instrument of the planner, the dream every central committee ever had, finally within reach. Epstein is not an anomaly. He's a symptom. The question isn't who he was connected to by blood. The question is who shares his view of humanity. Choose your side.
